Round of applause from me 👏👏👏and how generous of you to make a contribution to others less fortunate, I agree about the “bargain rice” to cook it would cost far too much for those already struggling, my elderly neighbour has been in hospital 4 times in the last 6 months, each time she goes in we have her dog, there’s never any dog food just an odd tin, so I make sure I have extra food ready to feed him, I think some of us have been “preppers” forever without realising it, again congratulations on your £5 Friday videos, you will of inspired many.

You could do a new series where you do £5 of household items and cleaning products to see what you can get and to help for when times get tough as well as the food

I tend to get household products along with the food items anyway, so I think moving forward I will just buy the things I need to top up what I use.

What a beautiful young lady you are, when thinking of giving food away, perhaps you could find an elderly or disabled person that could really benefit from the help, particularly the easy-to-prepare items, like opening a can or packet for an instant meal. I watched a documentary on the poverty of the elderly and it was heartbreaking. When I started prepping I brought everything that I eat on a regular basis first and then stocked other items, I agree with you, everybody's pantry will be different. Much love to you.

Great little haul, well done. You've obviously mixed it up on a weekly basis to keep the vids interesting but what i used to do when i first started out was to buy a tray a week, ie week 1 a tray of garden peas, week 2 a tray of carrots, week 3 a tray of potatoes etc etc. In my pantry i store my tins in industrial plastic totes rather than racking and sort the products by BB date so i have totes dated 2024, 2025 etc with each tote having a good mix of meat, veg and puddings. I keep my dried food in the kitchen in clip top jars, got loads of em in all different sizes running all along the top of the cupboards with the bigger ones for cereals and pastas etc on the worktops. For longer term i repack them in vac seal packs with 02's, and store in food grade buckets the shop bought packing is generally ok but far too much air in them for my liking. RE the comment about out of date food losing its flavour, while that may be true it takes much longer before it loses it nutritional value, i'd rather think of ways of adding flavour than binning. Also on your comment RE watching out for burst packets, i had this happen to me recently. I moved house a few months back and on transferring my stuff i did a check before putting them away and found a bucket of micro rice with a burst packet that had gone moldy. I disposed of the guilty packet, gave the rest a thorough good wash and put them in drawer in the kitchen to be used. Have you dipped your toe in the canning world yet? Or water bathing? And do you make your own jams and chuknies?

This has been a great idea. It has been interesting to see how some of the prices have changed over the 24 weeks. I remember the video you did on the Asda value brands. The soups have increased 12p since you did that video. I priced up their Just Essentials range late last year and again a couple of weeks ago and noticed the majority of it has gone up in price. It would be best to donate to a food bank or school/college. Some individuals can be offended if they are offered a huge amount of goods. They feel they are being singled out for not having enough money or food to feed their families. Keep up the good work. 🙂

Thank you so much for doing this Tilly. It is a very good example to get people started on a pantry. Yes we couldcall do a littke each week and have a store for emergency.
My mum always had a well stocked pantry especially in the winter. Living on the east coast we often had bad weather in the autumn and winter even if it was only rain or fog. It just meant that she could still make good meals without having to go out in it. We had milk on the step each morning and the green grocer divered her order friday morning. I have similar with milk and veg box delivered and it saves going down to the shop esp with the price of petrol and infrequencey of buses in our rural area. Wpuld not be without my store no matter how small.
Wish you and yours well and thank you.

That's amazing Tilly. Well done you. 😮
My opinion is that half to a food bank and half to a school that does their own food larder for parents who are struggling. I've heard that many schools have organised food larders. A few quick phone calls to local schools and I bet you will find one.
    I hope that helps.

Just an idea for you try cooking the savoury rice I use half savoury rice to half plain rice I add frozen mix veg cook in the microwave you can use the rice in stuffed peppers, burritos, have it cold with a salad or with chilli con carne. Left over rice can be put in the freezer then it’s ready to heat up in microwave just like the microwave rice! Xxx

You have inspired me which magazine reckons lidls / aldi gone up the most which is why we switched doing montly at tesco/ sainsbury.
Noticed some morrisions savers items gone down today.
Also last week tesco standard pasta gone down to 75p bag.
Going to do £20 this week at 4 different supermarkets and then from August 5 quid a week until Jan as that's when mortage goes up ..hopefully can provide family extra months worth of food

Its interesting that quite a few questions were about best before dates! I suspect that quite a few of us are either long time "preppers" and have a buffer of food in case something bad happens or buy food when its cheap after its BBE. I am a mix of both and have had to thrown some long term storage items because they taste "bad" or use stuff up before i think it will happen! Hence why i replace protein items such as canned chicken with beans as i eat baked beans as a weekly thing but cant afford to buy caned chicken, and have 10Kg of rice using and 10kg as next but the stored instant noodles i had to throw away.

WOW Tilly, the 6 Months worth looks huge on the table like that.👍
200 items for £118 is fantastic. Just goes to show how it can be done, & Yes, people starting out can do it for £2 or £3 & get a good amount to fall back on.
I've been the Joke of my Family because of Prepping for Yonks, but they're slowly starting coming round to the idea of how to start a Pantry, so they're forgiven. Lol.
Great that your hepling people out with the Haul too.
Now youve got a whole corner shelf to decide what to fill it with. 🤗

Well done Tilly, live in Ireland, seems to be a swings and roundabout on prices here. Lidl corned beef here cost's around €3.50 (could be a bit more now). Tomato puree here went from 39 - 49c to €1.29. Tinned peaches are 99c no matter who's store brand you buy. Have always bought from offers so have an extension full of items bought on offer. Would say to anyone when shopping, when you find something you use on offer buy more of that item, won't go to waste and then allows the option when something else ends up on offer to be able to get it.

Wonderful job, Tilly! It's a real treat to see all of these.
I stopped at a store that I had not been into in at least 25 years.I was not happy with most of the prices, but they were having a few specials, and I got a few unusual canned vegetables,(like seasoned cabbage; I have never seen that), and a few others to add to the prepping pantry to keep food-fatigue at bay.
OMGoodness, I just got one corned beef because it was on sale for 2.75 GBP, whereas they can go up to 5.50 GBP. It's been fun to be with you on this journey.
