I am with Nate on this one. This wealth of figures that are making it to Ross and Ollie's is result of the collecting boom during the pandemic. At lot of people joined the club and there were not enough figures to go around. Companies like Hasbro and Super7 over produced to meet demand, but the same demand isn't there anymore. New collectors that think that they can just wait it out for better prices are going to be disappointed when production drops for future waves and figures are harder to find or don't make it to discount. This has happened before and it's why some figures become hard to find. If you see a figure you must have order it or regret it later.
I remember the "Wait For Ross" movement at the tail end of the G.I. Joe 4" line that Nate brought up. Those were Target exclusives that Target cancelled and what was produced ended up at Ross. So the "Wait For Ross" mentality isn't new, just affecting a different collector base.
I find it refreshing that i cann find treasures at Ross.
Love the ep👏🏽👏🏽, thought provoking, hilarious and Clarence we must find him 😂😂😂!! Seriously I think clearance and Ross/Ollies equally hurt because they’re not getting all the money. Now layoffs, cancelled lines and fast out put is hurting the big brands. 🤷🏽♂️
Yeah I could definitely agree with that
Fucking Clarence...
😢There was a ton of Spawn characters all year at Ross, besides Staic Shock figures
Multiverse, Manga Spawn etc.
I never was lucky enough to find spawn but definitely found static haha
Great video man 🔥🔥
Thanks man! Appreciate you!
@@ModernToyfare anytime man. I appreciate you too 😁💖💖
At the end of 2022 Ollie's had tons of Black Widow Marvel Legends figures & all of the Ghostbusters Afterlife toy line. So if your movie line is a flop or just average it's line will be at Ollies just like Eternals, Black Panther 2 & D&D
Yeah that seems to be a trend lol
I see stores getting one wave box of figs and 4 vehicles and that's it, that's our store advertisement, stores are devaluing our IPs and not contractually trustworthy. You get a single wave case and let the fomo push to our web portal and our online partners who make money.
Yeah you're not wrong
In my area there were was nothing of note clearanced or at the discount stores. I checked multiple times over the last month or two. I'm not sure how much Hasbro cares about any of this because its the retail store taking the L on the reduced prices. Could it affect how much the store orders next time? Possibly, but like Nate mentioned toward the end of the video, it's hard to know which waves will sell out instantly and which will linger and end up discounted. I think this keeps stores from adjusting how much they stock, they probably have a certain number in mind and just always order that. Contracts might even lock them in at a certain number. I don't envy Hasbro though, they are gonna have a tough time figuring out production numbers when you factor in the loss of costumers from inflation or the fair weather collectors that joined during the pandemic. I think GI Joe specifically will have to be careful, we already have many of the popular characters now in the line, I'm not sure how many will continue to buy repaints of everyone in the different sub teams they do.
People think those $40 McFarlane figures are gonna wind up at Ross but it was only a 5k run. Rumor is Todd is gonna go as low as 3k production run in his waves
The $40 figures were/are online exclusive anyways, so no chance they'll ever make it to discount stores.
Yeah those are Todd store exclusive he's not gonna put em at Ollie's or ross
I think it hurts the company more than the consumer.
Im on a Action-Figure diet so I'm not the guy who buys at full price, slowly.
If anything maybe hasbro needs to lower prices to entice the average collector that doesnt mind buying figs at $20 over $27-$30.
I wouldn't be surprised if Hasbro burried their peg-warmers. ooof
Also, not a big deal but, it's pronounced TAY-VIN
I think a weeding out of a lot of newbies who collect for a fad is a good thing because clearly these companies are catering to them and not long time collectors who have established rules for the hobby . I say good riddance .
I thought it was all Disney's fault for making woke movies that nobody likes so the toys won't sell. Your saying that there are other economic factors involved? LOL.
Interesting opinions. And good conversation. Nice job guys.
Hahah who knew
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it 😊
