      Karate and boxing isn’t K1, K1 rules is so much more but predominately Thai boxing with out he clinched. Karate and boxing used to be called full contact karate in America then Kickboxing before K1 was formed in the 90s and Thai boxing took over as the main effective striking force in K1. The K in K 1 stands for many different styles, kickboxing, karate, kempo etc basically symbolising any striking art. That was the concept of K1 to see different striking arts compete.

    I shared this video a few years ago on a local online boxing/MMA group. The reaction was very negative, teasing me and calling the video sh*t. Needless to say I left the group after that. Just felt very disrespectful to me.

    KARATE IS KING OF MARTIAL ARTS , WEIGHTLIFTING TOO IS KING OF THE STREETS . WITH WEIGHTLIFTING , YOU CAN LIFT AND SLAM YOUR OPPONENT AND + YOU WILL HIT HARDER . HOW TO HIT THE HARDEST AS JUST A STREET FIGHTER STYLE PERSON , WITHOUT KARATE TRAINING ? USE OLYMPIC LIFTING , POWER CLEANS AND JUMPING / PLYOMETRICS . YOU WILL FIGHT LIKE A #BOSS WITHOUT KARATE .

    • @notmyname3681
      @notmyname3681 Před 4 lety

      @@subsonic9854 It's not a punch from the hip, it's represents a grab and pull back to the hip. The original name is Hiki-Te, literally translating as 'pulling hand'. Anybody punching from the hip in sparring or actual combat has seriously misunderstood the technique. As for evidence, there was no film and still photos don't show movement obviously. From the writings of the old masters it is pretty clear that they understood the importance of angles and moving yourself (and your head) off the center line. To suppose that they did not understand the value of head movement is facile. Would it have looked like Tyson's peekaboo? No ofc not.
