All modern Martial Arts is Mixed Sosai took the bits that he liked of Shotakan Karate and Goda Ryu Karate and merged them to creat Koyushkin Karate. People should get off thr MMA bandwagon and train. The only pure Martial Arts are those practiced back in the 1600. Since then all martial arts learn and adapt over time to suit the practitioner. Look at what Bruce Lee did with his adaption to establish JKD

There's a lot karate can bring to the table with hand techniques. Sadly, a lot of practitioners don't use them. By getting acquainted with kickboxing I think we can utilize them more.

i am a boxing coach , this is nice to see and can only benefit karate, i can see you have boxing experience , too many martial artists using fake boxers as dummies for their videos , slips and counters , great stuff , get some feints in there as well, nothing better than going in after a feint .
Karate and boxing (or K1 as it's called) is the most deadly combination of striking. The kicks, knees, fists and elbows of karate with the head movement and fitness of boxing. Chuck some BJJ in there and look out for that man.
Karate and boxing isn’t K1, K1 rules is so much more but predominately Thai boxing with out he clinched. Karate and boxing used to be called full contact karate in America then Kickboxing before K1 was formed in the 90s and Thai boxing took over as the main effective striking force in K1. The K in K 1 stands for many different styles, kickboxing, karate, kempo etc basically symbolising any striking art. That was the concept of K1 to see different striking arts compete.
Kevin R Not true, bub. Andy Hug was a pure Kyokushin fighter. He used 100% Kyokushin in his kickboxing matches. In fact Kyokushin with face punches is pretty much kickboxing. Also Karate doesn’t suck. Tell that to many kickboxers and MMA fighters today who still main them. 🤣
My Krav Maga coach told us besides boxing (he is a vivid boxer), Kyokushin Karate (he took KK first) is more suitable to supplement and complement Krav Maga combatives than Muay Thai. And Dutch kickboxing drills are very good. His favourite kickboxer was Remon Dekker RIP. Dutch Kickboxing is derived from Kyokushin. Ossu....

Gwishin Kyokushin Karate teaches real life fighting skills. In fact it’s highly regarded as the most realistic form of karate for practical combat. The only criticism it gets is the lack of face punching. But that’s only in competitions. Most Kyokushin Karate dojo’s teach face punches. In fact their are Kyokushin Gyms that Mass Oyama made that train Kyokushin fighters for kickboxing matches. In fact if Kyokushin competitions allows face punches then it’s like kickboxing. Though their kicks and body punches are uniquely different than how most typical kickboxers fight.
Karate works in Street fight. Especially Traditional karate but even Modern Karate works exepct the people that use karate in street fight spam like dumbasses, like u obv gon have to aim like u do

it doesnt allow punching face only in tournament, but you can kick the head. if you want to defend yourself in the street, it doesnt matter if you hit the face.

Anybody punching from the hip in sparring or actual combat has seriously misunderstood the technique. As for evidence, there was no film and still photos don't show movement obviously. From the writings of the old masters it is pretty clear that they understood the importance of angles and moving yourself (and your head) off the center line. To suppose that they did not understand the value of head movement is facile. Would it have looked like Tyson's peekaboo? No ofc not.

There are no elbows in k1 and k1 is basically freestyle kickboxing. Also, most people who fight k1 dont do Karate because Karate kind of sucks.

All practical fighting styles blend well...They are similar but kyokushin likes to be at a range while muay thai likes to be close/in a clinch...
