I’ve been a Tae Kwon Do instructor for 40 years, a boxing coach for 10. Weaned on old school , when it was called Korean Karate. This training brings back good memories of hard core training. This guys straight punches and shovel hooks are very good. Don’t know how he is as an instructor , but he is a prime example of long term physical training and high level technique. Really refreshing to see compared to the bogus bs that’s out there. Weak people with no physicality, barely breaking a sweat and claiming near mystical techniques.
This man Judd Reid completed the Young Lions Program, training every day for 1000 days under Kyokushin founder Sosai Mas Oyama. He has achieved numerous world titles including world champion in Kyokushin and other karate tournaments. And at the age of 40 he completed the 100 man Kumite challenge that only select individuals were invited to attempt. That and a life time of training and achieving 5th Dan Black Belt is why he is an instructor. Osu
Im a shorinji kempo black belt and I agree with you. Many martial art practicioners who avoid hardcore trainings and focus only on techniques and forms
I practice kyokushin for a year and a half, then switch to WTF tae kwon do cause my friend opened a school, at first in sparring the other student hurt themselves hitting me... the conditioning is that insane, i was amazed that all students struggle to do 20 push ups when in kyokushin we did like 200.... still TKD was fun but i am going back to Kyokusin
Shihan Reid was just here in Seattle, an excellent teacher and very inspiring, the seminar was amazing, Shihan is a great example of what happens when you continue to push yourself beyond your limits. One quote that sticks with me, is "there are no hidden secrets here, just good hard work!", for those who study any form of Karate and are serious about it, if you get an opportunity to train with it's well worth every minute. OSU!
Brings back great memories from Sea Point, Cape Town dojo. Not many have the privilege of training with a Shihan Judd Iwho in one second I can see is as real as you get). I and we had that privilege in spaces back in the 70s and 80s. Nothing quite like Kyokushin.
Inspiring. As someone who has been mostly away from karate for close to 20 years, (I been doing other "stuff"), this has got me training hard, strong karate again.
...and in a warm tropical weather where it's constantly 85-90F. Lucky, indeed. Come to upstate New York in the dead of winter and train with us barefoot in the mountains. They won't last 3 minutes.
@@ry8729 It's all relative, no need to belittle their training. Because many westerners accustomed to colder weather break down when confronted with the humid and hot thai weather in muay thai camps as example, especially when it gets cardio heavy. I prefer cold areas over that anytime.
You can train all you want but never be what JUDD REID is. This master is the Mike Tyson of his fighting form. Just look at his body shape, speed, strength, on and on.
frankcastle7777: I saw his video last 2 fights kumite. The music of bloodsport and my hair was standing up in my neck and arms. If you accomplish what he did, then you are for me master. His condition, passion, techniques and body are one. A truelly kumite fighter. Much much respect for this man.
This is a good video and I wish I could have been a part of it if I had been my original karate class guys like you connect with nature and improved when your become strong and powerful and very unique,🥋☯️🙏😌🙏☯️🥋
I took Shoryn Ryu as a child for a short time.I never even memorized the Katas.I didn't think I had retained much ,but over the past couple yrs. I Had to fight alot growing up ,I was small.I began to adopt more of a jiu jitsu/Wrestling.I would use alot of dirty techniques, I loved using Nerve strikes. Well I eventually grew out f my rowdy yrs and settled down, after a few Tripps to prison.Nowdays I'm a family man ,I do anything to avoid violence,I'm 39 yrs old,it is a miracle I'm still alive after all I've been through.Looking back I think it has always been my Passion for Martial Arts, combat skills, Fighting that has driven me to survive.I have been doing some body conditioning , I have been studying the styles and principles of several arts.Yet I have not been able to apply any in a practical application.I have nobody to train with me.So for now I just Would like to at least learn a few Katas to work as a template.Sanchin ,Is one I gave been trying but It's hard to follow on CZcams on my phone. If you have any suggestions or maybe video of Basic Kata .You are a huge inspiration to me. RESPECT .
Saludos
Is monster high hate to say this I really wish I should have had stayed in karate because what you guys are doing is very very incredible and very very traditional and very very unique and spiritual and very very strong friendship I just wish that I had one chance to go back to my original karate class just one chance to make a better future 🥋☯️🙏😌🙏☯️🥋
The difference between him and the students trying to mimic his moves would be almost laughable, should they not be advanced black belts themselves... Respect to this Shihan... I have trained under many, but never saw anything like this....
these people are civilians, everyday joe who spend at most twice a week training at local dojos, dont compare them with Shihan Judd who spends his entire life dedicated to kyokushin :))
Yes he's brilliant..... and having done kyukoshin myself I thought it was the best traditional karate I did however it really bothers me that after all that mechanical karate strikes .... they revert to western boxing strikes when doing kumite and Thai box when low kicking ..... Oyama was the first Japanese master to beat a Thai and he had to tailor his karate to do that ... many Japanese had fallen to thais already .... so I think that future karate will start to change as martial arts modernize
All styles steal or copy from each other and incorporate techniques within their training . Oyama made big changes only after all his fighters got knocked out by the Thais .
It doesn't matter the style....It matters the instructor and their fashion of training. If I had a magic wand, I'd request Judd Reid to train me with no gloves on.
Imagine being hand picked from hundreds if not thousands to be uchi deshi. To train at the most elite karate dojo in the world. Luck has nothing to do with it. Sosai is recognized worldwide as a true master and Judd was one of his personal students. What makes it even better is that he is an Aussie. He's finally come home and opened a dojo. Unfortunately I live 1 thousand kilometers away
Actually the founder ...the late Sosai Mas Oyama...incorporated seaside or ocean training into his summer camp training for many years if I'm not mistaken.
Judd has trained in those disciplines also. Most people make the mistake of seeing someone train in a certain style and assume that's all they know. Also, anyone on Sunday can lose a streetdight, pro boxer or not, many violent thugs have bested trained monsters purely on their ability to instigate maximum violence at the drop of a hat.
Such an amateurish and simple minded comment. Its not the style, its the fighter. Did you know that Georges Saint Pierre one of the greatest UFC fighter trains in kyokushin.
@@ramsesramses3857 yes of course. Nothing wrong with learning multiple styles and that does not mean one style is more effective over the other. Its mixed martial arts. And gsp really respect his kyokushin roots, wearing the gi during his entrance.
His punching form is amazing, its beautiful to watch

Welcome to the world of Kyokushin. The bloody regiment doesn't tolerate fakes.
This Master is no joke
wow Judd Reid, the modern day Oyama, the Real life Doppo Orochi the list goes on and on
Take it you watch Baki The Grappler too... What a guy XD osu!
An Australian Heihachi Mishima 😜
I dont watch baki do you mean the bald kyokushin guy who beat up black belts and showed baki some techniques
listen to his gi snap when he moves! fantastic power speed and focus. Well done much respect.
Shihan Reids punches could stop a rhino. He still got it.

I'm a shotokan 3 dan and not style biased when I say...
Whoever 'thumbs down' this master has absolutely no idea what karate is
you are nothing more than a coward troll
that is the truth
learn to read please
he specifically says whoever 'thumbs down' has no idea what karate is, which means this is real karate. This is why I said learn to read.
Sam Demars what are you tripping on. No one has said anything bad. I think you misread the comment.

delightful to watch. I've seen a class held at water's edge early morning on jones beach in new york. delightful then, as well.
His punches look really sharp The sound it makes when he punches is so satisfying

1.05 minutes. You don't want to be in front of those punches. Masterclass by a direct link to Sosai. Say no more
Notice that little kid in the back ground.
Just watching.
