Way way back in 1975 I came home after work from the Navy base in Winter Harbor , Maine. My wife met me at the door and said "Don't freak out". "They're both loving it". When I entered our home I found my 1 1/2 year old son riding our Newfoundland bareback in the living room. They'd been buddies for quite awhile, yet, I was astonished at how the two of them were obviously so happy and having such a great time together. Our Newf never growled or acted bothered in any way. If anything, when Ricky would pull back on the neck hair he was holding onto our Newf, Junior, would just give a little shake of his head and wear an "Oh well" look on his face. This became a form of daily playtime for the both of them. Happy together. Brothers. Family.
There a certain large dog breeds, like yours and ours long past, that sometimes seem to be the best guardians a baby could have.
To see a baby and dog together, is the best in the world 🥰

I raised three children with large dogs, and have had three Berners it is the best thing you could do for Milo...he has the best friend he could ever have. Benny will defend Milo to his death, You are being a great parent! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!!!
As an owner of a Bernadoodle, I totally agree with you. Our Lola is only about 25% poodle and is only recognizable as a Berner. She is so much like Benny it's amazing. I know that Lola, like Benny, would never intensionally hurt any baby or anybody who is every around her. Don't listen to those folks are being criticle of Benny. They don't have any experience with Berners. The most loving and gentle dogs I have ever know.
We had a Bernese / Poodle 50:50 "accidental" mix. He was missing all the brown, but other then being the runt of the litter (and always smaller at around 55 lbs), he was all Bernese. Greatest, smartest, most gentle and understanding dog ever. Sadly the Bernese curse took him after only 8 years from cancer.

My both children grew up with our bernese dog. They are adults now and extremely healthy. They don't have any kind of allergic symptoms of foods or animals. I guess our loving bernese dog took care of it. Lot of hugs..

Thank you very much for your first video about coming home with a baby. I thought it was very clever to come in alone and let your dog show You his happyness before showing him your baby. I shared it with my 23 year old daughter for later, she has a big dog too. Some people told me to get rid of my cat when I was pregnant so don't worry and don't listen, you know what's best for your family and you proved it in that video 👍
Been following for a while Benny looks just like our Lily who passed 2 yrs ago..it is horrible that you have to defend yourself..Milo and Benny are lucky brothers to have you guys as parents!

Wow great job Milo on rolling over. I have had dogs before my children were born. They were raised with Newfoundland dogs. My first dog was so great with them and very protective of them. My kids are now 24 and 25 and have always been around dogs all their life. Yes big dogs don't realize how big they are but I trust a large breed dog over most small dogs I have met. Let the haters be haters. Just ignore them the best you can.
I’ve been following Benny for awhile. He is such a great big brother to Milo! He is also going to be such a protector! My Granddog Bernie was an awesome big brother to my two grandsons. She also gained a little weight because the kids dropped their food to her 😂 Bernie was so happy! Don’t listen to people. They clearly never had a dog, especially a BMD! 💕

I want you guys to know that I love how devoted you are to Benny and Milo! You are doing a great job introducing Milo to Benny and vice versa. I had two Great Pyreneese who were the love of our lives. They were very protective of us, but also true to the name "Gentle Giants". I have a 3 'n half yr old Berner by the name of 'Big Bertha'...probably shouldn't have called her that cause she is now the smallest Berner compared to my previous ones. Anyhow, she grew up with my nieces and nephews and she adores them. She greets them, watches them, pretty much mother's them. The only thing we may worry about is her pretty, fluffy tail brushing over their faces. She loves kids, and when we go to pet stores, she loves to greet little kids...this is such a good breed. Those that are claiming otherwise, or don't put in the time with their own dogs to know what they're comfortable with, are clueless. Obviously you know Benny and see what he's capable and comfortable with-he's such a big ferocious best that tramples over little babies...NOT!

You can block and report all those negative people. When my parents and I had our Berner my nephew around 1 and he loved our Berner Miki and she protected him all the time. Berner mountain dogs are one of the best dogs for families and kids. In the old country they would train them to watch the kids why they tended the farm.
I have a BMD and love the breed. They love everyone. My granddaughter 5, and BMD 4 were babies together and I have pictures of her laying on top of him and he never even flinched. They are a great family dog. Don’t concern yourself with people who don’t know the breed. Btw, granddaughter loves Benny

We just lost our yorkie named Benny back in February. We decided our house was just to sad not to get another dog. We decided to get a Bernedoodle for us and our beagle Lucy. We named our Bernedoodle Whiskey. What a great addition to our family he has made.

Are you kidding me! That really makes me mad! Those people obviously don’t know dogs. I grew up with a cat in my crib, 5 dogs, a Myna Bird & 2 - 55 gallon fish aquariums! Trust me Benny will naturally protect Milo! Anyone with half a brain does not get rid of their pet when they have a baby. Children need pets. You can see in Bennys eyes that he loves Milo!
Literally had someone tell me that they bag up their kittens and throw them in the river if they accidentally scratch a baby

You are very polite to even respond to these comments. As a owner Bernes for the last 20 plus years, they are a breed that are excellent with kids. Our first Berner girl became our very kids protector. There is a saying amongst Berner owners - you adopt a Berner and then around the age of 2 or earlier they adopt you - and by that I mean the whole family. I hate to say it but people who make these comments are not worthy of a reply. Benny is so very lucky to have found you and he knows it.
there is a reason dogs are pets, it is because they are family and should be adressed as such, not just some wild animal.

I've met many people who got rid of their dog because of the baby. And I've been wanting to get a lazy dog berner or great dane, and they all tell me to not get one if i want a kid and it's annoying tbh.
My brother has a Berner, and he's a gentle giants. One of the most sweetest dog breed. We call him the police because he's always keeping his other dogs and cats under control it's sweet.

Our Berner Astra use to protect all the cats in the village from other dogs.Many times when we go for a walk in the wood, the village cats follow her, 'cause they feel secure in her company.
Your channel was one of several I watched before me adopting my own Berner. My Berner is now 1 years old and was the bsst decision ever. To those making those rude comments about Benny....they have no clue how wonderful this breed is and should maybe consider educating themselves before injecting their own fears unto others. Haters gonna hate. Don’t worry about it. I’ve had 5 Bernese and NEVER had an incident. Ever. I had 2 Bernese that LOVED to have my little guy crawling all over them. They would move directly in my boys way to have him crawl on them. They are AMAZING. DO NOT GET RID OF THE PUP❤️

I also have a Bernese mountain dog and totally agree with you. We call my 120 pound Berner the gentle giant. We got ours when my son was less than two. When she was a puppy and was teething and would teeth on us, she instinctively knew not to do that to my son. My Berner is 6 now and loves kids and she just seems to know to be extra gentle. My son and I have been watching your family for several years and really enjoy your videos with your dog. We live in Wisconsin and love that your from here. Ignore the haters. They obviously don’t own a Berner.

Its so sad that you felt that you even have to make this kind of video. We also have a Bernese mountain dog, and just had a baby as well. They are the most gentle beings around a baby. They are like babies themselves, and yes, very excitable. Bernese mountain dogs are NOT aggressive and ARE family dogs. They are just big and you have to watch them, but a good owner will help them know how they are doing. You are doing great, and Benny is the greatest. We see a lot of our dog in him too, we love Benny! :)

I also grew up with a Berner and I have a Berner now too because honestly Berners can be great therapy dogs and they're great with kids. My dog loves my baby nephew and he's watching him and my other nephews when they sleep

We have two Bernese Mountain Dogs here in the Charente, France. They are one year old and are so loving. Yes they are a bit hyper but that's what you would expect. Carry on doing what your doing it's great. x
