  • Earth had an idea to use liquids in 13 to not wreck all tile ticks with the 65k limit. Given liquids have a separate and identical 65k limit and with the help of simple bubble columns gave us an idea to give bubble column update limit to create a super simple 13+ wireless redstone.

    Hi. I was wondering if it might be feasible to build something like this in the nether. How would one queue such a massive update all at once, without bubble columns? Many thanks for the video. This is slightly mind blowing, ngl XD

    • @Xcom6000
      @Xcom6000  Před 3 lety +1

      Its possible if you place redstone dust or rails next to lava. Lava can be flowing or source blocks, don't matter. As long as all the liquids get the update the same gametick similar to the 1.12 setup then its possible to do the same in the nether. But clearly the setup would look totally different but do the same thing in principle. All that is needed is to somehow update the lava liquid source/flowing then 5 gameticks later they will suppress any other lava that wants to flow delaying it by 1gametick.

    • @Xcom6000
      @Xcom6000  Před 5 lety +5

      Game lag will never trip the 65k limit and never change water scheduling. This contraption if designed correctly and built correctly should be 100% reliable.

  • @jacksonpercy8044
    @jacksonpercy8044 Před 5 lety +2

    Wouldn't it be more reliable if you just had 2 water dispensers 3 ticks out of sync so that you're guaranteed to get an output from one or both of them?

    • @jacksonpercy8044
      @jacksonpercy8044 Před 5 lety +1

      Or we could take this idea further and have 5 water dispensers out of sync so that there are 5 possible outputs depending on which tick of water the bubbles are activated on, meaning it could be used to send 5 independent wireless signals (if timed correctly).

    • @landmining8610
      @landmining8610 Před 5 lety +2

      @@jacksonpercy8044 oh i see, could definitelly use that to the to make separate signals. As in for making it more reliable that wouldn't since they're already synced up

    What are some nice ways to break the 65k limit without sand updates or redstone updates?

    • @Xcom6000
      @Xcom6000  Před 5 lety

      The question is a bit confusing. You mean not doing sand or redstone updates but water updates? or you mean how to do it in 12 with water? Not sure what the question is.

    • @NZHacker1
      @NZHacker1 Před 5 lety

      Xcom6000 Sorry, my bad. I meant I want to see if there are any other methods to break the limit. The water breaks it’s own separate limit correct? So that won’t work and I can’t use the red stone tower or sand/rail tower methods. Just wondering if there are any alternatives that also work. Maybe that helps clear things up.

    • @Xcom6000
      @Xcom6000  Před 5 lety +1

      @@NZHacker1 The water only works in 13. In 12 water and redstone/sand is the same. All things that schedule a tile tick will do and that includes, repeater, comperator, sand, observer, water in 12, lava in 12, redstone torch, falling blocks and few others. I don't have the full list. Sand by far is the easiest.

    Cool, tested in carpet 1.13.1 and works pretty reliably. I'm confused about the soul sand timings though - the magic seems to happen on the second pulse, but if I change the first pulse timing, it doesn't work. Guessing there's some magic to do with water updates. Also, if I change the 2nd pulse to 2 gt shorter, it still works.
    In my tests it's only about 85% reliable in both cases (carpet, both your version and the earlier 2nd pulse), so I wonder if there's something else going on in the code.

    • @Xcom6000
      @Xcom6000  Před 5 lety +1

      Ya we don't get why it didn't work the first try. We struggled to get the device working and in the end we didn't fully check if the update order was correctly set up.

    • @landmining8610
      @landmining8610 Před 5 lety +1

      "The magic" should be happening when on the first pulse aka when the soul sand gets pushed up, second is just to reset it

    If someone thinks that water column is not "simple" - 272 blocks of ice on top, 272 pieces of kelp on the bottom, a beacon to dig the hole which provides material to build the walls up. Probably the ~9 stacks of observers would be the costliest part.
    And you're getting 70,000 pieces of kelp out of the construction.
