An improvised morning session at Spain's first skatepark - Arenys de Munt - with Kevin Tran.
"Back in 1979, Arenys de Munt skatepark openned its doors to the public and revolutionized the Spanish skateboarding scene that had been growing under the influence of California's alternative culture. The hype lasted 5 glorious years until its popularity decreased to the point that the local council decided to bury it and close the chapter... 'forever'.
Areny's skatepark remained in oblivion until 30 years later, when a group of local skaters (shout out to Jordi Llamas, José M. Roura, José Noro, Jairo, Enric Tejerina and co) decided to recover it. 3 years later the crew were able to dug up half of it and it became a cult place for the community ever since."
Following our Surf Cruisers narrative (an ode to the 70s skateboarding) it was about time we would take a visit to such a historical place and although we had a very tight schedule and most of the skatepark was half flooded, we surely made the most out of it.
