This channel has been the BEST resource for me as a bedroom producer and I am immediately going to apply all of these tips to my own work. Please NEVER stop making these!!! Your dedication to these breakdowns is awe inspiring
I could have hoped for a better outcome! Glad I could help with your music making process in some small way :)
I think you'd also really love the "Banana Labs" channel
small way is far too modest! ALso, an artist id love to see a forensic breakdown of is Bruno Major. He has a super unique style and sound and his backstory is pretty inspiring and amazing as well.@@AudioHaze
Holy freakin' moly man... I love hearing the contrast between the unmixed / mixed sections of the cover. It makes it clear that you can't just throw the sounds together. That's an art. Your personal connection with the song really showed in the cover. I got goosebumps
Thanks so much my friend :) I really tried to honor this one on another level, glad its coming through
audio haze never misses
That’s the goal 😎😎
Man, firstly, I'm so sorry about your friend. Dedicating this incredible video to him is a beautiful, beautiful eulogy. Your opening up and being vulnerable just displays all the love you have for your friend and for the music of Hozier, and how meaningful it is to you. Totally respect that.
I'm not familiar with Hozier's music, but if he treats his music like you treated the production and the covering of the song, I must surely will check him out.
Once again, thank you for an outstanding video.
Thanks so much Eduardo :) yeah definitely check it out if you're into modern soul revival stuff!! Its a really cool blend of pop sensibilities with a more gospel, retro influence.
I'm really sorry to hear about your friend passing, that's absolutely awful and I hope you're getting by well (and honestly what divine intervention to actually meet the man himself congratulations!) and the cover is f*cking incredible
Thanks man! Yeah it was a sucky situation, but a nice ended to a series of unfortunate events
I totally second this!!! Keep up the great work and my heartfelt condolences 💛
Seeing a parallel compression/mixing video from you would be phenomenal!! Especially with compression, i think most people do it wrong starting out but it is vital to a professional sound.
I've got a be honest, I know I've heard a few of his songs but I'm not that familiar with Hozier as an artist. That said this is a pretty incredible feat you have pulled off. 130 tracks just seems insane for what sounds to be a pretty simple song but the end result speaks for itself. Your story of running into him is pretty awesome as well. This is some of the best content on YT and I'm really enjoying it. Well done.
Thanks man! Yeah its crazy how many tracks can add up into one cohesive sound that sounds like only a few large ones, such a good way to fill out the mix though
I never heard of him either but will check him out after watching that.
3 billion Spotify streams of ‘Take Me to Church’ and 28.8 million monthly listeners. Tough to ignore.
Omg buddy there's so much in this video!
First though, so sorry for the passing of your friend, but thank you for being able to show something of what he meant to you 🙏
Mate you guys have done a stellar job on the playing and recording (again) of this awesome track.. awesome and very inspiring.
Yes, do an 'in depth' video on the mixing process please :)
Now where's those stems? 😎🔥🔥🔥❤️
Thanks so much Marcus!! To everything, it’s not easy being vulnerable on the internet so that means so much. Stems are in the description waiting for ya!!
Holy cow can we give a hand to ethan for those vocals. At the beginning of the video I was like "no one can match hoziers vocals" But Ethan might've just done it.
Right??? He killed it
100% interested in deeper dives on things like parallel compression. Your videos are amazing, keep up the great work!
*Edit* (was commenting halfway through): wow man! I’m sorry for your loss, I know that’s tough. Thanks for openly sharing more of the story here - and what a moment in JFK meeting Andrew!
Absolutely incredible...again. Seriously could not have found this channel at a better time
So sorry for your loss. Love your channel. Prayers/blessings/well-wishes to you.
Thanks so much :) doing a lot better these days, appreciate you being so kind while I’m being vulnerable
I have seen all of your videos and "liked" each one of them. wish I could do more. you deserve a massive following for the information you provide on this channel.
Wow, giving each of the stems, the mixed version, the unmixed version etc is incredibly helpful for us producers to try and recreate the sound. Thank you for your dedication in making this video and I hope you are feeling even just a little bit better now
What a beautiful mix of video production and storytelling!! One of the BEST music analysis youtubers out there
This is amazing. I also wasn't expecting to tear up at an AudioHaze video but what a lovely tribute to your friend. On top of a beautifully produced video and song. Sleep well earned.
This has quickly become my favorite channel. If you made a video or series doing deeper dives I would 100 percent watch it
Thanks man. This hits home so hard. This year I lost my sister and his album arrived right after that. A much need place to go in such a challenging time.
If anything, I’m happy we could both lean on the same body of work during hard times :) I’m so sorry for your loss though, hope things are getting better
From one CZcamsr (and music lover) to another, I love your channel! Looking forward to seeing your continued success. I’m also very sorry to hear about the loss of your friend! -a new fan
i am so happy for you, to meet your idol in such an important moment! you really nailed this one, it was beautiful!! If Hozier hear this one, i am sure he will be proud of how well you reproduced his song, but i can only talk for myself and you/it moved me! Thanks for all of your work.
Mindblowingly good. That is the most impressive production challenge I have ever seen. Genius and hypnotic…
First off I'm terribly sorry for your loss, but thank you for sharing and having the courage to be that vulnerable in front of us all. And second Hozier is some kind of genius and this video might just be your best yet. The amount of work behind this is nothing short of amazing. Again thank you and keep up this amazing work!
Amazing video, great insights and technical challenges. Thanks for sharing such a meaningful moment, too - it’s a true testament to why all this music nerd matters most to us, to move people
Please keep going! I'm so grateful for what you are creating!
I lost a friend around this time a few years back, and it really is such a surreal feeling…
I’m so sorry for your loss man. You’ve made an incredible tribute to him here.
Thank you for sharing this
Love what you do, amazing job once again. I'm sorry to hear about your loss. ❤
This video is just wonderful man, im so sorry to hear about your friend.. isn't it so spiritual so cosmically insane when people like hozier just walks across your path and you're able to take something positive from such a horrible experience. You've got a fan for life brutha your editing is TOP NOTCH and i mean top notch and your musical prowess and skillset is inspiring man. I'm currently creating my first song and this video is invaluable in the nitty gritty of it all. Thank you so much
This is such dedication. Love it!!
Thanks so much! Hope it was helpful in some way :)
Coming down here to say that I'm INTERESTED in more and that was a beautiful rendition. Did it justice honestly.
Noted for future videos! Glad you enjoyed, thank you so much :) this one was def by far the hardest to record
Would love to see that in depth video you were talking about, amazing content!! Unbelievable sound and visuals, can’t wait for you to blow up
This was stunning!! I’m starting ti understand more and more of the process and techniques and terms and you explain everything so clearly!! Would love to see that video you were talking about, it would be so great to learn! I’ve been wanting to start making music for a while and these videos will be percolating in my brain until I get to actually trying recording and producing!!
Another great video ! I really enjoy your content and hope the channel will keep growing up ! Greetings from France ✌🏼
Man, I’m so sorry about your friend. Incredible video. Always learn a lot. Thanks so much for all the work and passion you put into these.
Thanks so much! I'm definitely feeling a lot better than when I recorded this, feelings were still very raw. Regardless, appreciate you checking out the vid!
Incredible as always- excited for the mixing video!
Thank you thank you Karim :)
I’m always amazed by these videos. It’s so impressive how much time and energy you put into figuring out just what goes into a song, and simultaneously how accessible you make it seem.
I don’t have the majority of the things/people you used in this video-I own three microphones, two guitars, one amplifier, one bass, I use GarageBand, and I play and sing all parts myself. But even beyond the expensive gear that I don’t have the funds for at the moment, there’s still a lot of recording and mixing tips that are useful to me. Like, I’d never heard of parallel compression. And I never realized that a dynamic mic was better for loud vocals. Those things are going to serve me VERY well on my next project.
You and I seem to have very similar tastes in music, and I tend to wear my influences on my sleeve in a pretty big way. So being able to learn about the way my favorite artists’ songs are made is genuinely super helpful for my own music. Beyond wanting to sound “good” or “marketable” or whatever, I want to make music that sounds like the music I love, so that people like me have more music to love.
Holy shit this is such a long comment, I’m so sorry. If you take one thing away from my wall of text, let it be this: Thank you so much for these videos, please keep making them as long as they’re sustainable for you to do.
crazy!! Thank you so much for this video and all the videos similar to this one, really helps a lot! Also the recreation is so good. Thank you for what you do!!
Buddy, this is so much effort, but you seem like you enjoy it, hopefully you get the full recognition and credit you deserve
This is one underrated video. Seems like some people when they discover this gem of a channel, will also discover this gem of a video. Saying it now, 50k views is severely underperformant for what content is here. I doubt that will remain. Keep it up! One of my favorites :)
these videos are so cool and inspirational to me and have helped me a lot with my recording and production skills. thank you so much please dont stop!!!!!
Great insight - so many lessons in this and creative production. Can’t thank you enough 😀
love this channel and love hozier! thank you for sharing your experience
Thanks my friend!
Outstanding work, really shows the power and detail that a dedicated recording and a detailed mix can bring.
Thanks so much my friend!!
Parallel compression/overarching ideas video sounds TREMENDOUS!
Amazing job on the video congratulations! Very sorry to hear about your friend. Hozier’s music was medicine for me during a lonely time in my early 20s. His music actually inspired me to get on CZcams and make some tutorials. Your channel is inspiring me to get back into CZcams full force! Also got to jam with Jordan many times back in the day he is truly incredible player. Cheers brother keep doing what your doing!
Wow.
I’ve been loving your content, especially your recent videos. This is next level. Your hard work is paying off
thanks so much for the kind words dude! Always great to hear after the sleepless editing nights lol
Thank you for such a wonderful and challenging job! It's really inspiring!
Bruh... praise the commitment!! 💯
This recreation is unreal, I'm so happy I found your channel in time to see this. You put so much into this series and it shows in the end results. I'm so sorry about your friend. I'm also born in 1997, and to some extent I feel the impact of meeting Hozier and recreating this song. You will get through this.
As far as the final product goes, I'm so inspired by how well it turned out. I'd love to watch a video by you about parallel processing. Also, the choir part at the end makes me crazy, Ethan went god mode and it came out so well. Congrats on an all-timer, can't wait to see more from you!
Thanks so much man :) and yeah Ethan nailed it, its absolutely insane to even attempts that choir alone and he did so well. Lots of the pitches that Hozier himself had to pitch up Ethan just hit naturally, crazy
just discovered your channel as I'm starting my own bedroom producer journey and it is so inspiring, this specific video has been my favourite so far, thanks for putting so much love in what you do
YAYY glad you liked it!!
oh my god I just dicovered your chanel this week and I have to say I'm obsessed with these series!!!! you are so talented and you seem to get so deeply immersed on whatever you do, it's super inspiring to watch you and it brings me just so much joy... not sure if you take recommendations but, if you so I would be thrilled to see one of these about Fiona Apple, she has a super unique sound and I've never heard anything quite like her sound, idk why but I just feel like you would work so interestingly with it; (Sorry if the wording in this comment doesn't make much sense, I'm not a native english speaker.........) Thank you for making such quality content, I really apreciate it!
Just found this channel, it’s my daily driver now and the amount of work and research so far, is unrivalled in any other videos I’ve seen, RIP Ethan Taylor x
Thanks so much Peter wow!! And thank you for the kind words about Ethan as well
Actually one of my favorite songs, love your content!!
ME TOO, I hope i can still listen to it after this lol
I've been looking forward to watching this since I saw you posted it yesterday for Hozier is one of my biggest inspirations as well and boy was this video good.
Great work!
Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed it
Perfect timing, I've really been getting back into his music lately and have been loving his new album!
Sammmmeee!! Really cool progression from the last album too
Dude. LOVE your channel!!!!!!

Love the effort. The production, right down to the editing of the video itself was amazing, these videos have come a long way since your switch from gear reviews, I'm excited to see what else you have planned!
Thanks Dave! Yeah I'm really trying to make video essays that take ya out of the DAW a little, glad you like the editing!
This became my favorite yt channel in a month
😭😭😭 I’m gonna cry man
Absolutely incredible video! I hope Hozier gets to see it one day
Thanks, man! Great video, as always!
Thanks!
Love our content & approach! Thank You! 🙌
Thanks so much!
Insane amount of work, respect for your dedication. And the end result, fantastic!
I hope that Andrew sees your work
It definitely was a TON lolll, one of the biggest projects I’ve ever done. Glad you enjoyed!!
I can't thank you enough for these videos! One of the best resources available to me to keep getting better at what I love to do. Probably a whole generation is getting better at making music from watching these videos! You should be proud :)
Love your stuff man, beautiful cover. Keep doing what you're doing!
Thanks so much!
VERY much interested in that larger video going over a lot of these techniques!
It’s amazing how important all of those details are. And super interesting to watch. Def need a video on those techniques!
Coming right up (well eventually it will probably take a long time lol)
Theese videos alone has made you my #1 channel for learning/continuing to learn mixing and production :D
Bro I going to cry all over again staaaahhpp lol (seriously thank you so much)
Dude you’ve evolved into one of the best YT channels!! So glad you get the recognition you deserve 🖤
I'm HONORED wow thank you, I'll do my best to keep improving :)
Amazing video as always!!
amaaazing video!! had to subscribe. so much work, love n passion
Welcome to the community my friend!
nice video, appreciate the high quality production
Thanks man!
Not a single "how to sound like" channel compares to yours. Truly top quality work! Would selfishly love a "sound like Alvvays" video if you're keen!
It's such a blessing for me to find a channel like this and even more because you're such a big fan of Hozier. In my case he's the reason why I bought my first guitar. it was so respectful and beautiful from your part that you made this in the memory of your friend. My best wishes for you and all around your mates and family. Cheers from México.
This was such a pleasure to read, thank you :)
Dude incredible video and really moving message for real awesome and I'm sorry for your loss (supporting from Spain)
Thank you so much! Much love from Brooklyn, I used to live in Spain for about a year a while back btw :)
Super interesting & informative. Great work
Appreciate that, thanks Andrew!
This is amazing! More of this!
Coming right up!!
MANNN! I cannot put into words how much I appreciate this video of yours. Your videos have helped me figure out so much stuff and I keep going back to some of them after trying stuff with my very cheap setup. I know for sure I'm gonna watch this video tens of times at least. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
+ Hozier is one of my musical heroes as well, and I absolutely agree with you on the fact that in 20 years or so, the world would realize what a legend this man is. I can't believe that you got to meet him while you were grieving your friend's loss. And I really really hope Andrew sees this video!
Thank you for another incredible and super informative video! Also so happy for you that you got to meet Hozier in person. Hope you’re doing better🖤
Doing a lot better thank you :)) happy you enjoyed the video!
Your channel deserves to be much bigger, this is really high quality content and thoroughly researched. It's also well paced and entertaining. You're like the Navie-D of pop music.
Wow thank you so much man! These take a ton of time so that means a lot :)
Love it, thanks as always!!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching :)
Dude! Had chills in this video... your story was insane. Heart goes out to you, but also well done on another amazing video! :D
Appreciate that my friend :) this one was a ton of work so glad you enjoyed!
Your authenticity and talent is a breath of fresh air. Please, keep it going!
Thanks so much my friend!! Always hard to be vulnerable on the internet so it’s not lost on me, thank you
I don’t know much of hozier’s music tbh but this was so interesting! Not only for seeing behind the scenes of music i’m less familiar with to use in my own music, but also all the in depth detail and how well recreated it is - as always with your videos :)
So sorry to hear about your friend, this is a perfect tribute to them
Appreciate it Alex :) yeah the goal is to make these super informative whether you know the artist or not for sure
amazing video. I thank you so much for it man! Keep it up, greetings from germany❤🩹
This is amazing and so moving - as someone who only dabbles with music as a hobby I find this all fascinating and AudioHaze is one of my most looked-forward-to channels for every update. Thanks for taking the time and for being so honest and open in this one. You rock!
Thanks so much my friend!! Surreal to have my videos being something to look forward to haha! Regardless, couldn't have hoped for a better outcome, glad you enjoy and are learning some cool stuff about production :)
Amazing cover. Great song!
Thank you!
Love your content. Posting for the algorithm!
Thanks Alex! Appreciate it :)
Sooo educational, and in depth! Thank you so much I appreciate this series ALOT!!!! 🎉
Glad you enjoyed it my friend!! I'll keep 'em coming
I love these videos!! Thank you!
Thanks again for this. This content cannot be more inspiring for me. Insane quality and amazing cover!
That's so amazing to hear, happy recording my friend!
Of all songs/singers this one in particular was such a bold and difficult choice, that, regardless of the results, it deserves a lot of respect. Not only the process is so well documented but the result is incredible - I still can't believe how huge and beautiful the final part sounds.
There is so much in that video... thank you for making it and please keep going, this is a real inspiration!
Ah wow thank you! It definitely was a crazy challenge, but it paid off for sure. Cool to show that working in a home studio doesn't have to mean smaller, limited productions
This is an amazing video! Thank you so much for shining a light on his process and on how to approach it, feeling super inspired!
Love to hear it!!
dude this is insane. thank you for making this.
Thanks for taking the time to watch :)
Firstable, I'm so sorry for your loss. This video is incredible and the result was pretty impressive. And yes, I would watch the extended version of this with all the behind the scenes, deleted scenes, cats and everything. Hope the almighty algorithm picks it up.
Appreciate that :) since recording this I’ve recovered a lot thankfully. And definitely noted! I’ll see what I can do 😁
I’m interested in the mixing and compressions video. Also great video and I love this series so much.
Thanks so much! I'll start on the compression video soon :)
This video was incredible! Thank you for the music as well as the words you shared!
Thanks Tristan!
These videos are so interesting and this cover is out of the world. I loved it 🥺❤️
So happy to hear, thanks Andy!!
Man, I wanted this so much, you have no ideia. I Fkn love how hozier sounds always and wanted to be abled to reproduce it by myself. Thank you so much for this video
Yeah glad I could help in some small way! Happy recording :)
