    Nice to see this coming together! Great work, Damian!
    You might want to reinforce how absolutely jammed-up the original headlight adjusters can get, and if you force them at all they will strip out or you'll break the adjuster rods. I had to disassemble, clean out, then reassemble and grease-pack my adjusters to get them working properly. That was a good couple hour job but well worth it and an absolute prerequisite to doing anything with the original adjusters. My '02Z has over 120k miles on it but it's never been winter driven, just time and dirt buildup.
    Anyone who has not tried adjusting their stock C5 lights definitely should. As they come from the factory they are pointed down at the road and cross-eyed (pointed to the center of the car). Moving them apart and raising them up made a big difference in how well I can see with the stock lights. They're still not great headlights, but at least they can function as intended if aimed properly. Careful not to aim them too high as you'll blind oncoming traffic. It wouldn't surprise me one bit to find out they were aimed that way from the factory for cosmetic (fit and finish) reasons, as once "properly" aligned they don't fit the shrouds very well. But since you can't see them when they're folded down I couldn't care less about that, I'd rather see where I'm going at night.

    • @Vatniekaknie
      @Vatniekaknie Před 2 lety +1

      Excellent comment, Superspeeder! I installed HID housings two years ago and didn't clean the factory adjusters. I don't think I have broken anything (hoping) but I plan on cleaning my adjusters this time around when it's all apart.
      I have heard that the adjuster rods can snap or break gears. Not something I want to contend with!

    Just got through the first 5 hours of this install.....just need to adjust lights and put the cover on. I head some front fascia damage about 8 years ago and had the front end replaced, body panels actually lined up fine, but boy, when I started getting into the headlamp assemblies, nothing matched up lol, i have a 2000 but have 01-04 headlamp motors, so had to fun shuey some stuff to make the 1st stop bolts work, and my right light adjustments were high and right, so had to get that lined up...and i think the hardest thing was tapping into the brown wire, because my wires had 48 miles of tape wrapped around them......so.......fun.......,but they look killer :)

    I finished my install a couple of days ago. It is easier to just remove the headlight bracket to remove and install the lamps. I also put the black stops from the kit opposite of the control arm for better stability when the lights are up. I had it on the same side as the control arm and one of my lights had some wobble in it. You do not mention where to mount the relay or I missed it. I used one of the studs for the fuse box. I hope my comments help.

    • @KnightDriveTV
      @KnightDriveTV  Před 2 lety

      I would not suggest to put the damper on the opposite side. The heights of the tabs is different and the stop is designed for the inner side. If you had any shake, then its due to wear in your armature. No one should follow this procedure as it leads to the lights sitting too high. The bezels I design will be around the height outlined in the video as well. I am glad you had an outcome that you felt was good and suits what you need. I wouldnt suggest others follow. The relay has no particular mounting position. This is up to the installer.

    • @davidhenderson5975
      @davidhenderson5975 Před 2 lety

      @@KnightDriveTV I will recheck the height but I did set it at 140 mm. Before I found the wobble and change the location of the damper so my lights would not wobble while driving.

    It is very very important that the fuse tap is installed on the "draw" side of the fuse vs the load or the fuse is providing no protection. Most people will now this, but it is not obvious in the video. If you install the tap on the wrong side and there is a short in the lights or relay wiring, it would be very bad as the fuse would not be able to do it's job. Make sense?

    Quick question. Once installed, does the auto on/off function still work? Or will I have to manually switch to high beams and then off after the programmed delay when I shut off the car at night in order to get them to retract? Hopefully that makes sense. These are on my list.

    • @KnightDriveTV
      @KnightDriveTV  Před 2 lety +1

      I don't have that function and I can't honestly say. All I can say is, they function like normal headlights, if you add inline jumper resistors, which I will have available on the site soon. For now, that function may not work exactly as OEM. The lower amp draw of LED requires you go into the high beam before shutting off, to pull enough amps to trigger the closing. There are simple resistors for 9005/9006 plugs I will be selling that will solve that immediately and I'd be confident that whatever function you had would work normally, at that stage.

      I had the same issue using a 1/4" drive torx socket. I found a torx bit (alone, no socket) and held it in place with a 1/4" wrench. Also, I think it's actually T30 but T27 is close enough I suppose.

    Do these save weight by chance?

    • @KnightDriveTV
      @KnightDriveTV  Před 2 lety +1

      The factory headlight bucket is damn near a blow mold, there isnt much to it, so matching the weight and not going over was the target. I did this to avoid placing excess strain on the mechanism. Other kits on the market were all way over the weight of the oem stuff. This is the same almost to a half ounce, which was tough to do. For all out weight reduction, a fixed kit that pulls all the motors and mechanisms would be ideal and I am working on that kit now.

    What’s would make the headlight pop up when turning the headlight off. Turning headlights on lowers the light, 😅

    • @KnightDriveTV
      @KnightDriveTV  Před rokem

      Thats an issue related to gear wear, not related to how the kit works. Worn teeth on the nylon gears causes a behavior like that. Join the facebook group KnightDriveTV Corvette Enthusiasts group and someone will surely chime in and help you with that

      Paypal is a company of fraud, absolutely not. I don't do business with paypal because people scam businesses quite easily by filing disputes after receiving the product, then sending back junk in a box with a tracking number. Paypal also seized a business account of mine in 2017, stating that my personal name was associated with an address of a person who owed paypal money from 2005 (a former roommate). They seized the money for that account, from my business account, in 2017. I had no way to dispute it aside from suing them. I won't do business with paypal.
