    In this video I cover the specifications and overview of the CSC SG250 San Gabriel Cafe Racer, my first motorcycle! This is a great beginner bike given it's low power, lightweight, and low seat height. I mastered this bike within 1 month but I still enjoy taking it out once in a while because its so easy to ride and fun to whip around local roads.
    Thanks for watching!

    Nothing wrong with a 250, in the 70's the average size bike was around a 500 and it's great to see a variety of smaller bikes on the market.

    • @Kamdorian
      @Kamdorian  Před rokem +2

      Thanks I appreciate that! You should also check out the new SG400 from CSC. It has a slightly bigger engine and more features (also fuel injected) and I think the overall size and weight should be comparable to the SG250. So your wife can enjoy the bike longer and grow into it. Otherwise she might get bored of the SG250 in a few months since it's only really good for short distance lower speed city driving. Good luck and ride safe!

    Wish they made it an actual 249cc or 250cc. So it can go at least 80-85 mph. I saw the gray one and its so beautiful.

    • @Kamdorian
      @Kamdorian  Před rokem +2

      Yea it's weird how they call it a 250cc but in reality it's actually like 230cc engine. Top speed is around 50-60mph depending on rider weight and conditions. The newer SG400 is faster, check out my other video on it

      There is an upgrade kit available from Moto-cult and/or CSC which replaces the piston and top of engine to make it an actual 250cc bike. Also changing the front (and rear?) sprockets can increase top speed.

    Super fun little bike.
    This 250 with a swap to a Mikuni carb and freeing up the exhausts a little there's more performance easily gained from the motor.

    Been living in Thailand for few years now (where accidents are a huge issue) I don't dare to drive a bike here. People don't follow rules and hence, we are one of the top countries with high accident and accidental death cases.
    I liked your bike, 230cc is enough to enjoy long riding sessions with adequate speed. Too much of speed with a bike is fun only when there is controlled driving, not meant for south east asian roads.

    • @Kamdorian
      @Kamdorian  Před 3 lety +1

      Yea it is very dangerous have to be careful. Here in new jersey we have many low traffic local roads with nice forests so the ride is very enjoyable and scenic. This bike is great for local roads where top speed is 35-50mph.

    • @excelsiorfilms6014
      @excelsiorfilms6014 Před 3 lety +1

      I’m American and learned in Thailand. Your entirely right how terrifying it is to drive there but.... it really did teach me how to drive defensively and really good at slow speeds (froggering myself at stand still traffic)
      I’m in Texas now and just ordered one of these SG250s. I am so ready for the open wide roses of Texas and also to be terrified of lifted trucks lol

      @@excelsiorfilms6014 that's awesome you will love the sg250 very fun on local roads and for learning, especially clutch and throttle control because it can be jumpy at first. CSC just revealed their new SG400 cafe racer bike it looks great but also almost double the price of the SG250. The SG400 is more powerful and specd to max at 85-95mph and more comfortable at highway speeds as well.

    • @Kamdorian
      @Kamdorian  Před 3 lety +2

      I would get the SG400 if you can afford the price, it is more expensive than the SG250, but worth it because you get a lot more of a bike. Bigger engine, higher top speed, more comfortable for highway riding in case you ever need to do it and it's fuel injected so no worrying about carburetor and choke. I wish I could trade in my 250 for the 400 😂. The 400 is still a great beginner bike and you will get more use out of it in the long run compared to the 250.

    • @Kamdorian
      @Kamdorian  Před 3 lety +2

      Haha yea I bought the bike then outgrew it with 1 month and bought a 05 Honda Shadow Spirit 750 and put a few thousand miles on that. The SG250 is my play around bike and will keep it to teach the wife how to ride. I sold my 750 honda and now have a Kawasaki Vulcan 650 S so that will be my main ride. I wish we had good weather to ride all year round but winters are rough here so can really ride 7-8 months out of the year best case.

  • @Fernando-qp4zq

    I'm 5 11" should I buy this bike?

    • @Kamdorian
      @Kamdorian  Před 3 lety +3

      It depends on what riding position you are comfortable with. At 5'11 your knees will be bent with feet behind the knees so for me after about 45 minutes my legs get tired and need to be stretched out. Also if you are only looking to do short rides 30 min to 1 hr on stop and go roads then it's not a big deal. I am 5'5 and my knees are bent so it would probably be a little more cramped for you. It would probably feel like you are riding a sport bike. Also the new models have an option for a raised scrambler handlebar so less leaning over and less back ache. However, the sportier riding position does make it alot easier to take tight corners and control the bike compared to the forward footpeg position in most cruisers. Would this be your first bike? Are you planning on doing any highway riding?

    • @Kamdorian
      @Kamdorian  Před 2 lety

      It can reach 65-70mph but it will be vibrating little bit and not so comfortable for long ride at that freeway speed. If most of your riding is freeway you might want to get the SG400 it has top speed of 90+mph.

      If you had only 2200 in it, then you know you can sell any working bike for at least 1000. So you lost 1200 worst case.
      You but a 6600 Rebel and it depreciates 2600 immediately if you tried to sell it back to the dealer in a year or two for a different bike. That's more actual cash depreciation.
      Since it is a old Honda Nighthawk clone with 2020 era updates like front disks, eInstruments....and a center stand and a emergency Kickstart
      The thing may be OK. I've never heard someone actually complain heavily of unreliability of the San Gabriel. That old Honda platform is very easy for DIY work too.
      If you went up to $5000 all you get is a Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and that's only 20hp for twice the price and often a years wait now
      Good Honda CBR350s are 6k. Yammy MT03 is 5200 out the door at best. These are better bikes and might last 25 years....but if you want it for a year then get a 750 or bigger...you'll likely lose less cash on this CSC.
