You can then ask either your brother (they must be old and responsible enough), or your uncle (related by blood), or your grandfather (related by blood). It can be any man that you are related by blood and of course cares about but in this order. If you would like to learn more search about wali in marriage. So if you're not traditional then it would be pointless to date men who are serious about commitment.
I can tell you because my parents are muslim and what he described was the way my parents started their relationship.
They met at a wedding. Father liked mother. They talked to each other and then to keep talking to her an get it to marriage my dad had a serious conversation with my granda and he let them both marry.
Believe me. If you arent born in a muslim household, you arent going to like the rules. They are more strict but the rewards are good.
35 years of marriage for my parents. Good community built around them.
3 sons ready to work for them and good people with faith overall.

Quiet!” The Prophet said, “Come here.” The young man came close and he told him to sit down. The Prophet said, “Would you like that for your mother?” The man said, “No, by Allah, may I be sacrificed for you.” The Prophet said, “Neither would people like it for their mothers. Would you like that for your daughter?” The man said, “No, by Allah, may I be sacrificed for you.” The Prophet said, “Neither would people like it for their daughters. Would you like that for your aunts?” The man said, “No, by Allah, may I be sacrificed for you.” The Prophet said, “Neither would people like it for their aunts.” Then, the Prophet placed his hand on him and he said, “O Allah, forgive his sins, purify his heart, and guard his chastity.” After that, the young man never again inclined to anything sinful.

First of all it's not his fault that he wasn't living in this century.
Secondly he had previous wives before, all were either widows or divorced, even when he was a virgin till the age of 25 he married a widow lady, on her request to marry him. Khadija and we call her with respect so we add hazrat which literally means the honoured.
Thirdly this match of Ayesha was a match made in heaven and her father the close friend of the holy Prophet consented to this marriage. Her consent was also involved in it.
He married her on the will of Allah. He had no shortages of wives before her.
Fourthly She remembered him with kind and gentle words and always praised him once he had alleviated to the skies, meaning when he died. She was so awestruck by his nature that she wanted to be buried next to him but a close I mean really close companion begged her for that spot and she then finally after much consideration agreed.
So there are a lot of things you are not capable of thinking. Whenever making your mind up about something please keep an open mind next time so that people like me don't waste their time clearing your primitive concepts
Also the wives of The Holy Prophet are considered Mothers of all Muslims. No one after him was allowed to marry them after him.
