- Why do I keep finding these huge holes in strange places?
I dont know the answer. Several more Giant Hole discoveries on Google Earth compelled me to travel a very long distance into a strange and inhospitable land.
There's one thing I do know. These these holes I found on Google Earth are ridiculously large, deep, and honestly frightening.
If you have any ideas as to why the Holes don't let me sleep at night, please comment below. Oh, also curious as to what you all think created these amazing and beautiful places.

Now you can see how those holes are made by the wind and water, swirling into the hole over millions of years. Very Cool! Thank You for taking us along.
Stone is malleable ancient artwork through out the world proves this
Brilliant! You can literally watch them be created in the wind
(not an expert, just imaginative and mostly agree with the hypothesis above)
Some of these areas look like they used to be where the ocean was, and it slowly swept away into a giant river system, creating these unique formations.
that is the University penguins' explanation....anyone who understands thermal dynamics can see the heat signatures on these holes and rock. All of this rock.

I wonder how many animals/people have ended up in these holes and unable to get out? Scary
I wonder if a geologist would be willing to repel to the bottom of the pit and do an archeological dig. Might find some human and animal remains down there. I'm sure it would create a whole new hypothesis as to how the pits were made. Lots of speculation going on.
*That would make a great _Star Wars_movie set.*
those are absolutely giant potholes. the amount of water and depth to produce a vortex to carve them out is unimaginable.
I read that it's caused by hundreds of years of continues pressures caused by miles thick glaciers.
Edit: Did some additional research, it's still a debate but it's believe it's caused by millions of years of the colorado river flowing through it and it being a plateau for that long.
4:20 I totally thought your camera was going into the hole lol
9:10 awesome that you notice these things and point it out! I would not have the guts to do this solo! Stay safe and thanks for making these!
Gravel and moving water makes those "potholes". Dangerous when they are still under water. Sometimes they connect and are very dangerous
I love the sight of the snow swirling into those enormous holes. You need a ladder! I'll call your adventures now ' four paws and two legs'. Love your adventurous puppy. Great luck😊😊
The swirling was very cool to see
Seen one of these on the edge of a 700 foot cliff in Moab. The circle hole had no bottom. I was over hanging the cliff edge so you could see yo the bottom. I climbed in, got stuck in the side scared to death but made it back uo
Over 2 and a 1/2 hours now binge-watching your videos. I'm hooked I'm like a heroin addict that needs a fix. These are great loving it brother, thank you so much.
You gotta go check these same pits right after a spring/summer rain 🚿 . I know some exact places just like these ones here in my state of new mexico, that just turn into perfect pools to jump into.
I would love to I've learned soil in a very amateur way it does funny things. Assuming it's all microbiology
@@joeyvelarde5562 right, would be fun to see them filled with water 😁
@@jacobgates1986
What is water no one knows
If you look at the behavior of wind in the vortex type situation it takes dust away. It takes the soil thousands of years to become hard mineralization
Too bad too much wind to fly the drone!
Your “art” is very moving. 💓 Holy Spirit all over it. Thank you.
Those are awesome. It has to be insanely cold.
Ya I had about 5 layers on
@@the_pov_channel I can't stand the wind. I stayed eight weeks on the north slopes of Alaska in the spring. The wind was my biggest issue.
Over here from The Trek Planner. Great shots! Thanks for sharing your trip!
Haha- Thanks for throwing snowballs into the big hole!
Jeff, are you and Nolan in the same region? It would be cool to see some of you teamed up in a video sometime 😊
Liked and subbed. You're So lucky to be able to visit such beautiful and unique landscapes
Thanks. Much agreed
They look like the holes worn into bedrock in flowing rivers where a movable stone gets trapped somehow in a way that as the water flows the stone spins in place drilling against the bedrock causing huge round holes to form.
7:38 the shadows of you and your dog are my absolute favorite shot in the whole dang video❤
Me too, I have taken a few screen shots of those moments.
Thanks for the cool views man.
Looks like so much fun.
Please continue this thing you, I’m now living vicariously through this channel 😂🙌🏽 you rock
Oh, even the dog was a bit scared and cold. ❤
Lol, my pooch is short haired and underneath he's nearly naked, so he lets me know when it's too cold. He stops leading and comes close and doesn't want to move.
Once I put his jacket on, he steps right out again.
These holes are super interesting. For one thing, although it looks like you're on solid bedrock, clearly these holes aren't solid bottomed - there would be snow and water filling them up otherwise. In some there's just a little bit, but they must be at least a little porous at the bottom. I have no idea how they formed but I thought that was interesting to note. It seems in every case, they deepen first and then widen out later - which makes me think these are potentially extremely eroded sinkholes? The smooth sides are just because the wind has been eroding the sandstone for hundreds of thousands of years.
Looks so dangerous and COLD! WOW! Worried about both of you for the full video!
Every time I watch his videos I am both amazed and horrified...lol.
Man, I can’t stop watching your vids. Amazing!
I love the Holes and Hodooos.
I love your hiking afte a snow and the wind.
Cool/cold Video.
I understand the hiking alone. I always feel like I am tied to the world 🌎
Thanks for the share.❤
The dog is saying brrrrr ... when can we go back to the warm car?
Great find and camera work thanks for sharing with me.
SOoOoOooo freaking AWEsome!!! Suppppper Duper brave n silly!! Gid speed & much LoVeLiGhT
Please, please be careful out there! That includes your doggo! Don't want anything to happen to you, because we want to see more adventures. Thank you.❤🙏🇺🇲
You could definitely film a series about life on another planet in this area. It looks so surreal.
Dang when you threw that snowball, I thought something happened to the dog. That hole is huge!
I love watching your dog❤ miss my dog. Sure do love watching you two hike around thanks for the adventure!
Stunning, stupendous, staggering! wouldn't it be fascinating to see a million-year time lapse movie of how these were formed? You do the best! Like too much. Tui loves to just be with you, LIke to see that big hoodoo. You know you could rappel into those holes?
Love how you use yourself for scale and perspective in your vids it works so well👌🏼
Wow..this is awesome and a very entertaining watch!
I’ve done similar things in Vietnam, finding interesting things in Google Maps and then finding it. 100 million population and in a tiny country 20% smaller than California, you’d think everything has been found, but locals are lazy and not into hiking or exploring or anything dangerous. You can still find unexplored places but the threat of poisonous insects, spiders, and snakes, as well as landmines and unexplored bombs are very real.
Consider that the largest cave in the world, Son Doong, wasn’t found until 1990 and not even surveyed until 2009. Of course now it’s a tourist trap and destroyed and littered with trash and construction debris like every beautiful place discovered in Vietnam.
The snowballs were a perfect way to give scale lol loved that bit
Thanks for appreciating that 🤣
OMG I just love your videos and your dog too. 😍
You went at a time of year no one else would wish to go...scary!😅
Even better!
This is so dope man!
OK...... (insert Silence and Awe here) my new Favorite Channel, thank you, that was just amazing to see
RAD,THANKS,GET WARM
Awww yeee
Probably just the drain holes after some Flood.
As always, so awesome!
you have an AMAZING channel...your videos are ENRAPTURING!! Thank you for your effort and work to share these adventures and bring realism to Google earth!!
That large one would be an awesome in ground house. Natural heating from the earth.
Bro your channel is popping off and I am here for it 😍 new subscriber. In before 63k subs!
Yes Nevada has pits somewhat like these. But they are rocks from Outer Space. The Lunar Park on Highway 6 from Ely on Hwy 93 which extends to Tonopah, Silver mining camps, etc on the west side of Nevada.
You find some great places.
Thank you for sharing your experience at all these cool places! It's nice how you appreciate things in nature. Keep it up and take care :)
Stunning. There was a place in Texas I used to climb called "Hueco Tanks" outside of El Paso, 40 yrs ago. Similar, but nowhere near the magnitude. Thanks.
How wonderful, your videos are great and beautiful with your furry guide so magnificent 💖💖
Underrated
Yes
Hey,good to see you & dog again,Happy New Year & thanks for letting us experience this beautiful landscape vicariously.
I've spent a lot of time in deserts near the equator & have never seen typography quite like this, but, the utter beauty of raw desert is for some reason my preference over highly vegetative landscape.
Seeing yours & your dogs shadow, make me realise just how stupid i was back in my days of treck ,out in the middle of nowhere, I'm guessing you check in & have GPS tracking of some sort? The best i ever had was a walkie-talkie,but depending on terrain it wasn't guaranteed to work.
I've never been a great fan of subzero temperatures, though as you know even in the summer/hot part of the year, the temperature can drop wildly at night. Im going to do a bit of googling to try and really understand the dynamics that shape your type of landscape. Thanks again for sharing it.
Stay safe & very best wishes to you&yours, look forward to your next alert👋⭐️✌️
You need way more views! :) Loving watching your videos
I really enjoy your videos dude keep up the good work
According to a documentary I saw, these types of surface scars are caused by water erosion. But to be caused on this scale means that there was a catastrophic amount of water flowing that would have created it relatively quickly, such as by a 1300' tital wave that flowed inland then back out to sea, like seen across the landscape of the US just south of the Canadian border. I can confirm that that tidal wave was due to the sinking of the continent of Lemuria, since you are presumably on the west coast.
I'm worried for your puppy and for you .
SAT phone ?
Rope or any kind of equipment like this?
Could you effect a rescue of any type of needed.
Please friend .
You make me worry so...
It's funny but not really so funny
Slips do happen no matter how carefully you are.I learned this the hard way.Now i have two metallic hips and Several vertebrae discs destroyed.Im so lucky I can walk still.

Be like a scout and be prepared ok ?
I'm so with you. What is his plan if his dog takes a fall? Or him? InReach? What's he carrying to conserve heat? Hypothermia isn't forgiving. I'm glad he has his five layers, but I'm not sure that will be enough to spare him.
The bigger the potholes, the deeper and faster the water was flowing. Trying to imagine the scale of such an amount of water.
there has to be some amazing artifacts at the bottom of these basins. get professional gear and check'm out or do some Lidar Scanning. Truly wonderful sharing such experiences. thanks.
Wow! Never saw sth like that. I love the brave dog.❤
Randal Carlson knows all about those holes.
Brilliant video and photography. 🇬🇧
That dog is amazing. What a trooper.
Amazing!!!
You should definitely look up Randall Carlson's work. He has a perfect explenation on how these holes are created. I am guessing this is part of the channeled scablands near Washington?
There have been massive floods at the end of the last ice age in that region. Basically these are created by underwater turbulence, a swirling vortex under water.
Awesome content!
Exactly! For anyone interested in what he’s talking about go read about the younger dryas impact theory. It was comet that hit upper North America around 11,600 years ago and caused cataclysmic flooding. If you find that interesting then go check out Graham Hancock and Randall Carlsons work here on CZcams. It is fascinating!
Awesome! Thanks for the adventure! 🤪
They may have developed over time by water...
Stay safe!

What a wild place!
Im literally obsessed atm with finding objects or places on google earth.
its not that easy to find something really insane everytime.
Appreciate you.
Hey, boy, fetch the snowball, go get it.
More of this video 😊 🙏
Love the tree in the hole! 🤘
That stack of rocks - lion? Dog? Sphinx?
talk about commitment...brilliant vid..A Walter Russell info search may answer your IDKtA...thx for the trek ...

Your 50 year old self will thank you for wearing sunglasses now. 😎🤙
🔥 keep it up!
I’m so worried for your doggie!!!
He's been doin this kinda thing his whole life
Nice dog. Aussie shepherd?
He's gotta be freezing. Sould have doggie shoes and a Jacket too. 😢
@@lahart2003 No.
@@lahart2003Oooh, no. He might slide into one of those holes wearing boots. And he IS wearing a very furry coat. Did you ever see those videos of furry dogs who LOVE it when winter comes? The run out into the snow so happily after being hot all summer.
So beautiful but I bet you are freezing!
Wow! I found you and your doggie today...im so greatful for your content. I'm so thankful for your eyes and mine. You make feel close to God just seeing the magnificent perfection of this universe. I love your companion and how adventurous he/she is♡♡♡♡
Be blessed n keep capturing these images for the world to see
It’s amazing how erosion works with these holes. The area is so pristine contrasting with the rock & snow.
What a beautiful but hostile landscape
Hey I hear your voice in both ears in the intro! Thanks for fixing that :D
I has no idea it got that cold in Arizona. Wow. Im in michigan and it gets like that here on a regular basis.
Você deve ter sempre equipamento de escalada.😮
my palms have never been sweatier 😅
Perfect
Wonderful Place on earth
Is that a gopro you use?. It's sure a good picture
At 3:11 they look like either post holes or where trees were once buried and rotted away. They look perfectly round though. Were they purposely carved out to collect water from above that seeped through the sandstone would be one question I'd ask.
Water collection? Maybe diy bathtub. Critter pit like a deadfall??? Kiddos babysitter/crib.
It looks like mining with a rotative excavator...
7:25 If you fall in to this one, you are screwed! 9:57 This one too.
nice!
One very dangerous hike
Got to get in the bottom of the holes
I agree. I may have a plan for this in the Spring... Lets just say I might have to bring some floaties
@@the_pov_channel couldn't you repel down while its dry, seems it would be safer than when its wet
It looks like mining with rotative excavator...
Bro, I would love to go on a trip with you to one of these places. Sign me up.
These holes look like Boring holes for mining.
Have you ever set up a trail camera to capture what happens in these holes during a rainstorm?
A book. Briefly describe each each each excersion, briefly how you felt, how your dog reacted throughout. Find photos that you only took to describe in glossiness and reach for it if the day comes to manuscript it. For it may not always be to download like we do today but to curl up and read it they will , ought to, recommend it to their friends too.😊
Possibly an optical illusion this area was probably Forest and rsin was probably prevalent these possibly water storage the bolders are out of place.
