PT 2: I discovered Something on Google Earth that no one has seen before

- A large and complex looking chunk of sandstone rising into the sky in the desert has captured my attention since I found it on Google Earth.
I wasn't sure if it was even possible to get up to it, or what I would find, but when I somehow managed to arrive there, I found myself wandering around for hours as if in a dream, amazed at the strangeness of this place.
I would love to hear your thoughts on things you saw in this video that perhaps even I didn't notice, or thoughts on the geologic forces at work that must have been necessary to create it.
Thanks for watching. I appreciate each and every person who enjoys these videos.
More videos coming your way every week, please subscribe if you enjoyed this video and want to see more.
Please try to help nature by leaving a place better than you found it, and stay safe out there- these types of excursions take days of preparation to ensure safety and to avoid dangerous situations.

Counting those layers (rings) in that old twisted cedar tree and it looked like about 150yrs old
Wow!!! Unbelievable. Juniper trees are incredible
@the_pov_channel the Navajo/Dine people use Juniper! Your channel is powerful. In your video around Feb- March 24, you showed , The lines/cut marks at top and giant square blocks. The one that was 'missing' was placed a distance away.. My art professor taught, theres no straight lines in Nature, well except Crystal's! It's so ridiculous how THEY- commenters/ try to mislead us from what those who have eyes to see? Keep up the good work!
Se secó por falta de agua

Love seeing you walk with your dog. Ive had 3 border collies. I still hike and explore with my current dogs, Jack Russells. When we explore open rock Im scared he will fall. We last explored the Porongorups near Albany W.Australia. Its grey 2 billion year old rock. This remnant of Gondwanaland rises up only a few hundred feet above the vast plains.
The SW USA is amazing, especially considering peyote tripping Indigenous people roamed around painting spirit forms on the rocks .
Fantastic place to explore and appreciate being able to see it.
Yeah, some dogs just have no fear. Oh man, I am dying to explore your part of the world. Aus has very cool geology as well. Thanks a ton !
@@the_pov_channel Australia also has spirit country. Where the indigenous people drew rock art and petroglyphs.
They created songlines that described their trails.
Wilderness either has spirit network intact or as refiges.
It also has beauty and animals and birds and trees which is what i usually notice.
The US is renowned for its beauty.
Teddy Roosevelt looked after you!
4:47 That's really strange. Right above that little pit or "pothole" made of three components are two lines, not quite parallel, but each one goes through a perfect circle as they move to the right, through the center of each one, and then as they move to the left they encase a perfect semi-circle... after they terminate, coming out of the two circles at the end, is a smaller triangle of circles... all over the rock many of these circles appear in threes. It's almost like, intelligently created..
Omg don't even think about apologizing about the 'wind' sounds. For me it sound like a rainy storm with thunder and it is very calming. Your voice is also nice and doesn't really disturb my sleep when i'm falling on your videos. Keep it like this going❤
I really hope you're carrying an emergency beacon on these solo hikes dude 👍😲
They're absolutely essential here in Australia.
I love your drone footage 😁
Wow!!! This place is amazing and very curious to say the least!! Very very cool find my friend!! 👍 😀
Hi Nolan! Congratulations on hitting your 10,000 marker. Happy happy New Year's. Stay well. Don't make your parents worry too much on your adventures. You and your videos are awesome. Could not be better. I enjoy every second of them in my mind. Wish I was still young and able enough to do the same. I'm 71 and spent 58 years hiking similar to you. So I really enjoy your fun. Keep up the good trekking. Anne Marks
Thank you for your comment Anne. Safety is always #1 priority. I hope to hike for as long as you have!
Fascinating location and your ideas as well !!!
This reminds me of an underwater waterfall area. The deepest level is where the highest waterfall poured into. Nice...a piece of Pangea exposed yet again!
Good work again Nolan! Your drone footage, is outstanding, for sure! I love what your doing.
Your vids take me back to my Sonoran desert wanderings...unfortunately as a Canadian can't be there with the price of things....your enthusiasm is awesome...your mentions of human abuses of sacred sites is so necessary.....and your garbage clean up....Best of all you don't disclose locations!
I'm speechless. Thank you.
I totally enjoy your search and explore style. That said.... It was hard to keep 127 hours out of my head. Watch out for over confidence, nature has no guardrails. These days GPS locators are cheap.
Enjoy my friend.
I have ample safety equipment. Probably a bit over due explaining that in the video
POV filming is my favorite, hope you do loads more. New subscriber! Incredible filming, great editing and invaluable sharing.
Thanks a ton Chuck. So much more headed your way.
4 months ago u had 10k, now ur at 123k! Your videos are great! Congratulations brother
Your canine friend is an enlightened soul ... he's not a dog .. seriously ! 🙏💖
Looks biblical. Congrats on the 10K. You deserve way more.
Thank you! Were working on it 🤙
Looks a bit sketchy to be driving up such a narrow and rocky path with just one hand for steering while filming with the other. Be careful ;-)
Many happy and safe trails for the new year! :-)
I loved this episode. I used to roam slickrock country in the '70s and '80s but got too old, thank you for bringing me back.
Your channel is the greatest discovery I `ve made on CZcams all Year!.
we love discoveries
Your work is astounding, Nolan. You will go far, tho you obviously already have! Take care out there bro.
Much appreciated James
HAPPY NEW YEAR NOLAN AND PUPPY...HOPE TO SEE MORE OF THAT TERRITORY IN FUTURE ADVENTURES...BEST WISHES
THANKS AND HAPPY NEW YEARS
What a cool feature!
Also, 12:22 these hard rocks on tiny pinnacles of sandstone.
Cool vids man. I love hikes like this. Where you're just in awe the whole time, ever curious to explore around the next formation, wondering what created all this cool stuff! Which state are you in? Looks somewhat similar to a place I was wandering around in Nevada.
Also many dimensions criss cross here.😮
What a fantastic place!!! Wow. When you took that long shot of the place, it have a vague Sphinx will to it! I loved part one, also.
These rock formations ❤ are awesome. Thanks for sharing. 😊
Congrates for reaching 10,000 plus! Way cool
That corrugated water tunnel has amazing acoustics and reverb.
Nolan I just wondered what things you do to ensure your safety during your travels? Do you leave your location, eta and such information with someone just in case you run into a problem and have no mobile service? And have you ever had to call for help? I am loving your videos and admire your get up and go. No I’m a senior citizen I’m feeling like I didn’t have to chance in my youth to explore and my curiosity was never enthused to seek our adventures, but then again we actually didn’t actually know what was outside of our own worlds back them .. but thanks to the internet and social media, it’s all there waiting for you youngsters to explore it and video it for us older folks to see, and I am very grateful for that. Thank you and stay safe
. Thanks for showing us these amaxing places 🙏
Great video. Thanks for taking me to this place. Never seen anything like it before. What formed this unusual place? I would not want to be your life insurance agent !
Bahaha. Truly unique
Its Biology.
Mudfossil University can Explain It.
"mudfossil university"? what a giant load of horse shit.
Wondering if you have watched any of Randall Carlson's videos on these areas. Extremely in depth discussions on mega floods. Some of these giant potholes are cause by massive amounts of turbulent water that carve out weaknesses in the bedrock like a drill. All the ancient stories of great floods, and there is evidence of one in plain sight. These videos are really cool, keep em coming.
I love your content!! Thank you for sharing these places. Thank you for keeping the anonymity and sacredness to these amazing places you find. You make my butthole pucker on your leaps across boulders!! 😂 Stay safe young man! Congrats on the 10k. ❤❤❤ You're going to explode soon.
Beautiful place. Thank You for sharing this adventure!!
Agreed I am very fortunate to have seen it. Thank you
Looks similar to the Scab lands in eastern Washington.
Glacier Lake Missoula flooding.
10:15
That's a juniper tree. Very old.
And they grow that way. Very gnarly.
The scab lands look incredible and I very much want to see this place. It might be on the agenda for 2024. Awesome- I thought so. They are mystical trees for good reason.
@@the_pov_channel Dry Falls might make the trip worth it but unless you have a keen eye it's usually hard to make out what makes scab lands special while on the ground. You are a Nick Zentner fan already?
Oh lawd, seeing your dog getting that close to the edge all the time, hearts skipping a beat every time.
All i can say is bro, thats sick! Congrats on your 10k.
Thank you
Your drone footage with just the sound of the wind is epic!💯
So much great drone footage once again Nolan. Good example of tafoni (holes) at 9:38 in.
Es gewittert...!
Frohes Neues Jahr , morgen Abend in Deutschland!
Es sieht aus wie Knochen...
No....thank YOU. These are places we'd never see if not for your adventurous spirit and videos. The drone footage is amazing! I was looking down into that hole wondering what was at the bottom and all of a sudden.....there it is! So cool. Love your sweet pup who accompanies you. Happy New Year, stay safe and thanks again.
I expected to see a band of Tusken Raiders jump out from behind every turn! Amazing landscape! Thank You!
(Ok. So 3 months ago you were at 10K, and NOW you're at nearly 100K??? Did you discover some kind of alien race out there???)
Those are some amazing formations. Thank you for sharing with me as I'm not able to go see these places myself.
no thank you!
That place was wild btw very cool vid
thanks a ton stay tuned for more
That place is absolutely amazing and can't wait to see all of your adventures
Great. Your dogs so enjoying the hike. Surefooted 🐕
Love what you do and the amazing things you show us !
You got my subscription. Like your energy and eye. I probably couldn’t convince you of bringing a light weight metal detector on the quests that were on land that allowed it. Just be forewarned I might keep reminding you haha. Joking. What I’m not joking about is there are so many caches out there waiting to be found. Takes patience, persistence, and the ability to permeate yourself into every aspect of the lead and or story.
Curious to hear what you think I would find with a metal detector?
dang man almost doubled in size since this vid, that's awesome! You're on the up bro. Keep it rollin.
Awesome photography and drone work!
Glad you enjoyed it
Amazing footage❤ stay safe brother 🍻
Fantastic series of videos, absolutely phenomenal. I really admire you for discovering and taking us along in the exploration of that gorgeous place.
Gratz on the 10k (now 12k).
I'll never get to the places like that in this lifetime, so my eternal gratitude for taking me there.
ridiculously cool location, & great photography of course! And your dog is such a trooper!
Your videos are always so cool! You are such a daring young man, obviously quite brave. And boy- you know how to do that drone flying so well! I really enjoy your videos more than most. Thank you so much for sharing. Thank you for being safe. LOL I pray for you quite frequently. God bless you Nolan. 🤗🥰😇😊😉
Just found this channel and I can’t wait to see what you do next.
Be careful man!
Those places are AWESOME!
But they are DANGEROUS!!!
Take care...
Cool drone work 👍🏻
Thanks for this and be careful on your journeys!
You've more than doubled your subscriptions since the posting of this! Interesting content, great editing and material. I subscribed about a month ago.
Respect 🫡
Great job man… I have never seen so many beautiful rocks and more rocks. I am from Wisconsin and we have trees and other beautiful things but I hope to make it the desert someday. Great views you find. Keep it up.
Best life to you.
Awesome video Nolan. Happy New Year to you.
Happy new years Matt hope you have a great 2024
The drone footage sure adds to the video.
Just started following. Amazing structure; thanks for making it possible for others to see. I really like the rain and thunder in your summit drone flight, nice touch. And what you did with the drainage pipe was like an other body experience...would have done the same sounds.
Your merchandise has got to say, “Is that a hot dog?!” I lost it when you said that.
Nolan for the wind noise on your phone try this simple hack, put a bandaid over the mic and you will see a big difference in the background noises
Congrats on 10k!
Thanks Jenn!
Happy New Year, this is an incredible video! Thanks
Happy new years. Much appreciated John!
Curious - do you tie the dog up when you are going to the more treacherous spots?
BTW - I like the storm sound tracks- pretty creative and captures the drama of the landscape.
Thats funny, no human could ever resist a good echo chamber!
Happy New Year from Perth Australia and congrats on 10,000!!! Just found your channel yesterday …. I will be watching in 2024. 👍
Holy smokes thanks a ton. Cant wait to see your part of the world someday. Say hello to a Quokka for me in the meantime
Hehe will do next time I'm at Rotto Island. I would definitely watch you explore Australia. Hmmm maybe your love of Google earth will have you checking out Western Australia some day??? 😁
Wow vraiment incroyable! Thanks from Québec 😊 your dog is a real champ I had a border collie its a Ferrari 😊
Lots of ways to get hurt up there!
Thanks for more beautiful footage!
love your dog!!
Cool circle marks at 11.18 on that boulder
Pretty wild
There was this boy in America who flew into a crevice and couldn't get out because he was crushed by a stone, and that just reminded me a little bit of that
10:55 Your dog made it unscathed 🥰 looks like fun for him, which I’m sure it is❤️
I've been watching for awhile and realized I hadn't subscribed yet! Am now though and set to all lol
I had subscribed, and had to subscribe again. Seems like an oddity.
It worked! Haha awesome thanks
@@amberandrews6842 oh no..
Love what your doing makes me wish I was 70 years younger, what is the breakdown of different rock types.
Stunned by the places you visit but at the end of each episode want to cuff you in the ear for the way you are dicing with death . . .
Ain't necessary except in the minds of folks waiting for the inexitable plunge and forgotten by them a week later.
So beaitiful! Thanks
cheers
OMG, fantastic!
11:52 Was probably Travis Pastrana base jumping! 🤣
Another awesome video. Congrats brother. Hope you have a great new year @
That would be wild!
@mudfossiluniversity and the POVchannel should definitely do a collaboration, you're eyes are going to open a whole lot wider when you realise the geological and biological connections, which interestingly enough you picked up subconsciously and commented on at around the 9.45-55 mark.
Yeah. That was awesome. Subscribed.
thanks Doc!
3:46 Oh man, you stood right there on the precipice...on a broken slab of rock ready to roll haha.
Still what a discovery. The perfect place to trip through a door of perception induced by some mind altering chemicals.
Your shoes are making me nervous 😅please get some ankle-protection hiking boots, better safe than sorry!
A friend who was a seasoned hiker went hiking in her sneakers and spreyed her ankle and couldn't walk through most of the summer and she really drilled that into me: make sure you wear shoes that protect and cushion your feet!
Super beautiful !
hey, take me with you. I would love to explore places like this! 🙌
That place has almost as many potholes as the roads in Pennsylvania.
I would not travel to places like that alone. One accident and you will have serious problems. But love the drone work.
lots and lots of experience allows me to do this
Interesting video; New sub, just found the channel. 3:44 hole for a post? 6:20 sealed opening on left wall?
_*New subscriber* Second time Your post has appeared in my feed. I really appreciate that YOU make the effort to locate the site, trek to the location, and respectfully record and share what you find. Definitely a contribution to our further understanding and insights into the folks who have come before. Like some other commenters, I would just ask you to exercise full caution and discretion. Use a camera drone for the dodgy bits, at least until you have a kid to carry on the tradition, right?
• • • • It would be fascinatin' to know if the interior has been modified for any sort of habitation or defense. This structure sorta SCREAMS "Keep Away!" Any sentry could see anyone coming in daylight when they were hours distant.
• • • • Truly Freaky intrusions in the fractured sandstone at video marker 4:04. Those appear almost like SCARS on Human Skin...Seems the entire structure was placed by some TITANIC Being, making some hidey-hole for a pet. I have NEVER seen any natural geologic feature with all those boomerang shapes that look like they eroded somewhere else, NOT *_in situ_* as we see them now. You could imagine some fracturing and intrusion of a material that's much more water soluble than the original sandstone, allowing for partition into weird shapes.
• • • • Okay, see your drone work at 4:52 --- So many pits dug into the horizontal surfaces ---> RainWater collection? The place just appears to have been very thoroughly modified for human habitation.
interesting observations. It would be a very perfect defensible location which makes me wonder if it has a history of use. I would honestly be more surprised if it hadn't been.
WOW!!!
Lotta water washed over those rocks, fast-moving, deep, carrying tons of debris, from whole forests, to giant boulders and hundreds of tons of rock, muck, and mud! It looks like the San Rafael Ridge, if so, it's at the point were the water would have entered first, and remained to the last, when all the water that was able to get across the saddle, at the eastern end of the Uintah Mountains, would have. It was probably a tsunami nearly a half-mile high, backed by up to 50 trillion acre-feet of water, coming with it, circa 4,250 years ago, or less. As water levels fell, they'd have created eddies, in those "pots", swirling the water around super fast, eventually leaving them to evaporate away. This is why we find so many "shelters" nearby features like that, in the upper reaches of canyons, and in those isolated "tanks". Heavier materials, like mud and silt, would have settled in them, making them fertile for any seeds or vegetation to find a home. Whatever had been here, before, assuming anything at all, was washed away in the "flood",
That thunder storm soundtrack is messing with me lol
Please be careful, there are countless places you could potentially get stuck/pinned between cracks and gaps and have no way out. Also the random gusts of wind that can change and pop over a cliff at any time are more than enough to send you off the edge. Hopefully you're making vids for years to come 🙏
The structures you explored in your video were created millions of years ago by quicksand. Mass amounts of sand and water were forced through cracks in a catastrophic event. Myron explains the process in detail. czcams.com/video/3JraT49a1tw/video.htmlsi=CeZkoYeVXiFKaYC9
Neat. Thank you for explaining that. Absolutely love Myrons videos he is the Goat
oh my.. I get these tingly sensation in my body and my nerves play up, when you walk on the edges and jump from one rock to the other. Please be carefulI. Love your video's really.
We'll be fine, boys have been doing this since we could walk ha. We're the mountain goats of the human world.
Ha ha. Love to hear that. And yes, always being very safe even though I am in close proximity to edges occasionally.
^^^
Congratulations, but...I had a hard time enjoying the drone footage because I didn't see your puppy dog with you and I'm worried about him.
He was tucked away in a safer place. Thanks for the concern!
