Huge video! Took me a lot of time to produce! We'll be back to regularly scheduled videos now but if this video gets 100k views and 1k likes, I'll consider making a Heavensward retrospective sometime after Dawntrail, so share it with your friends if that's something you'd be interested in!
Glad to see you are back again! Loved the video and as a Shadowbringer Launch Baby, I adore seeing what the game used to be and how the game differed back in the day (esp things like old classes and mechanics). And this has easily been my favorite 1.0 breakdown I have seen so far. It managed to exactly scratch that itch I was missing in other videos of how it felt to play and how people handled problems we nowadays dont even consider being worthy to think about. If you do end up making more I will gladly wait for however long you need ^^
I've watched so many videos about FFXIV's history and now here's another one and it's almost 3 hours? SIGN ME UP
Sameeee
This is one hell of a history lesson for someone such as myself that didn't start playing till Shadowbringers. Hell of a vid as always!
This is so nostalgic. I started playing months before Stormblood was released so I'm glad I was able to experience the previous changes before a lot of old skills and mechanics were removed.
youtube algorithm gods, please put this in everyone's feed. thank you.
good vid btw :)
Appreciate it!
I adore this video, it’s the “down memory lane trip” I never knew I wanted. So many memories, man, the shaping of ARR was such an amazing thing to live through. I will always be grateful for having it experienced first hand. And conquering Twintania, well, is a memory burnt into my brain.
Necessary shoutout to a fellow femra enjoyer, we know how to enjoy life to its fullest, do we not?
Honestly such an amazing video! It was an interesting look back into a time where I didn't play.
Oh shoot I love long retrospectives like this
phenomenal, ffxiv is a great game that i got from my dad who has played since the 2.0 its nice to learn more about old features to discuss with him
Aww, I'm glad this lets you have those conversations!
Thank you for doing this! I enjoy long videos and this one has a lot of insight about the game! Nice job! 🙌
Played since pre 1.0. My name is there!
Oh nice! You're a soldier for playing through 1.0!
I’m a tad late to the premiere, but better late than never right? I’ve been excited for this for a long time Azu, I hope this does well too.
We love some good gaming history
Great video, wish we someday got one for heavensward xd
Would love to, but this video took me a tremendous amount of time, only to not do too well... maybe if it gets picked up by the algorithm in the future, we'll see!
oh hell yeah let's go
Random alpha memory; Initially, FATEs spawned constantly, like 6 or so of them could be up at the same time even in the starting zones. The lag was terrible and they quickly had to lower the focus of the open world having FATEs.
I'm sure other 2.0 people remember when we were getting our first 50s, hanging out in an absolutely jam packed Mor Dhona and zerging to each FATE across the zone with entire alliances because you needed to grind to finish levelling.
I didn't actually know that! I got the game about a month after release so I missed the Alpha, Beta and early release hehe
Video definitely will get a big boost when dawntrail drops + nee player influx
One can hope 😭
Love this video, but one note (I'm 23 mins in): DoTs can still crit now. I don't remember the name of the guy, but the person that does the FFXIV myths debunked tested this and showed DoTs (and HoTs, I think?) can still crit. They just don't do big letters. DoTs can also direct hit AND direct hit crit. It's just easy to miss since there's no real indication other than they do a higher amount of damage.
Huh, weird that this misinformation about them not criting spread then 🤔
His channel name is Caetsu Chaiji Ch.!
However dots calculate weirdly, by combining all potencies of the current ones applied and ticks on that damage
Hell yea
Woah that vid is beefy man...
Beef is good
ARR relaunch had SOME server issues? My dude, the game was not playable for so many people because no one could get in and they didn't have an AFK timer so people could stay logged in indefinitely. And buttery smooth? Maybe after a couple of months. Due to connection and server crowding, the game was in a horrible state for weeks.
What's a pirate favourite FF 14 content
Arr
A relm reborn
Is that why we don't have a pirate job, because ARR ain't anyones favourite 💀
It was fun time, mostly. Some things, like having to level other classes was a bit...oldschool. And there was bunch of problems caused by this old way of thinking, so majority of changes over time was for better.
But i think they went too far in some aspects and game lost its uniqueness. Its quantity over quality problem.
Its not like it makes me unhappy game is doing so well, but its not same game as it was in HW or SB times.
Yeah understandable, I do think it's easy to forget how many problems there were during the HW and SB times though, because there was a lot
Its redemption and fall back into ruin. Game has been badoff since Endwalker.
Not really what the video is about but you're welcome to your opinion!
