Artificial grass install in my garden. Bournemouth & Poole

  • Not exactly tech related but I did use a THiEYE T5E action cam in time lapse mode to capture the video at 4K.
10 bags of fine sand was liberally spread over the grass a day later. This helps with weighing it down and it also feels better under foot.
If you are in the Bournemouth or Poole area of UK you can check out the installer at...........

A sub-base (graded to MOT Type 1) underneath the turf promotes proper drainage and provides a solid foundation to lay the artificial grass on top of - and make sure you remember the geotextile membrane underneath to prevent the sub-base sinking into the soil below. Cover the area with a sub-base and compact in two layers to a depth of 70-75mm using a compactor plate.

With a dog it's impossible to keep the lawn healthy. I'd rather a fake lawn that lasts 15-20 years than the huge amount of chemicals I used trying to keep the lawn healthy.
Plastic is everywhere, including the device you used to write the comment. Cobalt in lithium batteries, also used for manufacturing petroleum. Do you drive?
Polypropylene, nylon or polyester carpets, sofas, clothing etc etc.
I have recycled for over 25 years, buy fresh and mostly non processed foods, have solar panels plus solar hot water, haven't used airplane holidays for years, only drive when necessary etc etc, all of which greatly reduces my carbon footprint.
      You?

Depends on how you want it to look in a year's time.
      The job was done right,
Remove all old turf down to a depth of 4"
      Level off.
Crushed stone (30 to dust?) Compacted.
      Sand compacted
      Weed barrier
Grass carpet (nice to see no joints)
      Trimmed and pegged
And kiln dried sand sweep into the base.
Removal of all rubbish and tidy site.
      £1800 well spent.
Customer got a good job for a fair price and contractor didn't cut corners with materials or labour.
