carbs (the healthy kind in potatoes and legumes like chickpeas) are essential for the brain because it's what the brain runs on. and those quickly lost pounds are always water weight. I know it's promising, been there done that, but please if you start feeling dizzy or "out of it", don't be afraid to go back to carbs. 💙

There are a lot of different opinions about Keto diet.. I think that it's important for you, if you want to pursue this type of diet, to see a nutritionist. Sometimes Keto can be very dangerous for your healt, because you can accumulate keto bodies, which can lead to a type of diabetes, in extreme cases.

I lost 55 on keto. Protein bars and plant-based protein shakes are your friends. I’m on 15 grams of protein five times a day. If women have too much protein, we store it as fat. Now I can’t do fruit or too many carbs but some of the bars have them and since you are athletic, I’d learn more about macros. I drink electrolyte water to replenish potassium, sodium, etc. so I won’t have any heart palpitations from any sort of rapid loss in ketosis. I’ve plateaued from cheating with carbs and sugar but keep trying. Eat lots of greens, peppers, celery. Stay away from peas, potatoes. Eat only small amounts of carrots, beans, beets due to sugar. Snacks can be pickles, celery and PB2 peanut butter. Healthy fats in small amounts: nuts, olives, cheese, avocado.

They sell keto strips (you can find them online and I think at drug stores) where you pee on them and it tells you how much you're in or out of ketosis. I've found that to help a lot from day to day when you're starting out to figure out what's working and what's not to get into ketosis. I can't imagine doing it as a vegetarian though! Way to go!!

I tried the diet for a month, I was on top of it, taking supplements as well. I did lose weight and as a bonus a lot of hair. That was not cute. the diet is not that hard but if you want to be constipated (fyi i ate a lot of veggies and green grass juice) and bold for life, not that sure :) I had high hopes but no not for me..i was pretty disappointed
