Dan Quinn have been saving the Cowboys from total humiliation ever since he took over the defense. 🙌
Possibly but Dallas did draft some good talent lately as well
Defense was solid for a deep run
@@dallasdynasty0077 Picking good talent is part of Dan's job - he gets credit for THAT, too.
So what you meant to say wasn't 'BUT Dallas did draft some good talent' but instead 'AND Dan also drafted some good talent'.
It furthers JC CJ's statement, not an argument against it.
I know someone deep within the Cowboys organization. Dan Quinn is making more than almost all Head Coaches in the NFL. Jerry is breaking the bank in order to keep him as the DC and is raising the price to retain him every year.
Doesn't matter every year you lack what it takes to go all the way
There’s no salary cap for coaches so Jerry can pay him enough that he can’t say no to be DC
And sean Payton might be coming
The Walton-Penner family has even more money, without question. But Dallas is in a decent place. Denver is a total mess, and Jerry can pay Dan plenty of $, as you said.
@@dynomar11 Mike McCarthy is a great coach. He can't be a player and a coach. It's up to the players to execute the plays, etc
@@dynomar11 SP for Dallas HC.
@@DC4L_86 he needs to call plays if Kellen Moore gets fired.
If he can't go to calling plays for us then we need a new head coach that's willing to give us his all
He's already been a Head Coach and he also knows how hard it is to get to a Superbowl. Dallas is closer to that than any available team he could go to now. He's getting paid as a Head Coach to be the DC. Seems like a win-win for him, all the $ money and less responsibility than the HC. The interviews probably helped him reestablish offers and Jerry gave him a raise and now Quinn gets to do what he's best at. Sometimes there's no conspiracy Rich, just common sense. To your point though, he is likely the safety net for Jerry should things go south in a hurry for McC.
Close to a superbowl....tears in my eyes... either someone is chopping onions or a cowboy fan is dreaming the dream
@@nathandrane4423 you think Indy, Denver or Houston are closer to a Superbowl than the 12-5 Cowboys???
Marco this makes a ton of sense.
Quinn also coached the biggest choke in SB history....makes him perfect to stay with Dallas
Fucking nailed it.
Probably a combination of things. He wasn't going to get the HC job he really wanted, Jerry promised him more money as the DC in Dallas and once McCarthy gets the boot, he'll get to be HC in Dallas.
Right, and the Cowboys will STILL never win jack BECAUSE Jones still owns this LOSER team...

Dan recognized he either was not going to be reunited with Russell Wilson or he did not WANT to be reunited with Russell Wilson and figured it's better to keep his powder dry in Dallas for a better opportunity down the road than the dumpster fires in AZ, Indy, or Houston. I applaud him for that and hope he is in the mix for the Seahawks next coach when Pete decides to leave.
Looks like Houston found a coach in DeMeco Ryans.
As a Niners fan, I’m more than ok with that downgrade
Quinn sucks as a head coach. Period. He is good DC. He has likely realized that.
That's the sense I got from this news. Nothing more than Quinn realizing he's in a better spot in Dallas than elsewhere. Indy's probably sticking with Saturday. Does he really want to leave Dallas for Houston? Arizona seems like a mess with Kyler as QB.
@R Willson I hope he doesn't go there. I know he played there but ownership and management are shitty.
He gets paid like a head coach, he doesn't need to go anywhere else

The Denver job sucks, no shock that he doesn’t want it.
Money would be the only reason, And I'm sure Jerry offered him plenty to stick around. Maybe not as much as the Walton-Penner group, but plenty none the less. I'll be shocked if it turns out Dan isn't the highest paid DC in the league (if the numbers come out). He's certainly worth it.
Let's face it dude, there are better jobs out there than working for Wal-Mart.
Why interview for it then?

A wink that includes a head coaches salary.

Jerry is giving him that 💰💰💰💰
Paying his mortgage too
That's a great save by the Cowboys! That defense can take them places.
😂
If we can get a QB
Comfortable places like home to watch the conference championship again
Not really because they did their part and Dak ruined them by playing horrible against the 49ers
I think there a few reasons Quinn is staying. 1) He's being paid HC money with only DC responsibilities. 2) He has an absolutely beautiful home in Frisco only 5 miles from the Star. 3) He is BELOVED by his players and he loves coaching here. 4) Maybe the teams that he interviewed with weren't tempting enough to move his family for.
Or, and here's a thought, no one offered him a job because less and less defensive minded coaches are getting jobs and his defense dropped off from the first half of the season to the last. Or he's waiting for mcarthy to get fired after next season

... he still has nightmares about the Patriot comeback.
If he's being paid well, being DC for this Dallas team is not a bad gig. The HC gets all the heat and he's got one of the better defensive units in the league.
My first thought too. He’s seeing first hand how McCarthy gets thrown to the wolves. Sometimes maintaining has its benefits
Not everyone has to want to be a head coach. I’ve interviewed for jobs I didn’t want.
This is a great point. There's a lot of win-wins for Quinn with this decision.
This. Compare this to having to fix Russell Wilson and deal with the mess that is Denver. Plus, Jerry is likely paying him a lot of money. Plenty.
@@jaylucien669 Tell that bullshit to the cows!! DQ is lying
Bring back the “I don’t get it” segment. Cause there’s been a lot of them
I think it's next year and an out with McCarthy for Dallas. Dan Quinn is probably the coach of the cowboys going into the 2024-25 season if not earlier than that. If he gets the HC job in Dallas, he doesn't have to rebuild the defense because his defense will already be installed
If McCarthy keeps winning 12 games per year, he's not going anywhere. Don't kid yourself. Jason Garrett didn't do nearly as well and kept the job for a decade.

Jerry absolutely wants Dan Quinn as the head coach. One more year.
Yep, good possibility!

Houston - 3 different HCs in 3 years. Indianapolis - No QB and hires a former player to coach their team AZ - tied to a QB coming off a major injury w questions abt his leadership, DEN - narrowed search to Ryans and Payton. Might as well wait until next hiring cycle and get paid as a top coordinator in the league.
I agree. What's the hurry? Dan can get almost any HC job he wants when the right one opens up. It could be the future in Dallas. It could be in Seattle when Pete retires in a couple years. Plus, Jerry must have offered him a heap of money. He's got it.
You've got it. And if Jerry is whipping him with cash to stay and suggesting he'd be 1st in line for HC if McCarthy is out, then Quinn can be picky.
If a good organization with a winning QB is available then great, but why take a crap HC job just to get fired in a couple of years because you don't have QB and the organization sucks.
You did lay out a few losing scenarios for Dan but left out the losing team he works for right now 🦅

So do the Ravens just prefer "Special Teams minded coaches"?
lol
Rich’s reaction to this is hilarious to me
I think Dan wanted the Denver job last year, and didn't get it. That's why he announced his return to Dallas the same day Denver announced Hackett. After watching what happened in Denver last season, and presumably a little irritated he didn't get the job last year, he might not want that job anymore. That Atlanta job was a much better scenario than anything he would get this year, and it would be a very similar situation to the one Dallas is in right now if that job was to come open next year..
Big surprise no mather what. He must have had good offers to become a hc. But the cowboys is the most iconic team in the world
Good show. Best look, black shirt.
Rich, let me ask you a question. If an owner was willing to pay you HC money to be the DC, would you take that deal? Cause there have been reports from Cowboys SI that state that is what is happening. I know you media types need to get the views and clicks by asking the "tough" questions, but this information came out yesterday.
@Larry Capoya Not so sure about that. Never underestimate what someone will do for a shitload of cash. Not saying this is the case here, but I imagine there is a very good chance that when Jerry got wind Dan might be leaving, Jerry offered a fat bonus check to him.
💯 Facts
Maybe Quinn wanted a say in the GM picks and things like that which were not offered?
He’s gonna be the next head coach in Dallas that’s why he’s sticking around!!
Yeah…especially with Moore out.
Nothing wrong with interviewing, even if the only interest is to see what's available. I would think it helps in salary negotiations if nothing else
I'd be willing to bet there was a "missed" payment from his contact that magically hit his bank account.
I could easily see this. A "bonus" if you will. Jerry isn't the richest owner in the NFL, but he's in the top 10, and has plenty of money to cut a nice, fat check to Dan to stick around.
@@PhilAndersonOutside Right? If he feels like he has his guy he can float a bonus to him now and say “I’ll make it worth your while when you get the spot”
You’re speaking facts.
Something is up in every NFL city!
I don't understand why your co-host didn't understand what you were insinuating. You're right to think something's up. Blackmail? This could've been a good conversation but he kept ruining it
I know someone deep within the Cowboys organization. Dan Quinn is making more than almost all Head Coaches in the NFL. Jerry is breaking the bank in order to keep him as the DC and is raising the price to retain him every year.
Kellen was made the scapegoat, Jerry is setting McCarthy up to be the fall guy for next year’s and Daks shortcomings, and DQ will be HC by year’s end
The grass is not always greener, Rich.
So long as they keep the QB and OC all is good for others in the NFC
So a different QB is gonna make Kellen Moore look better, huh? LOL
I agree with Rich; SOMETHING is up in Big D. I don’t know what it is but things are different than usual. Neither Jerry or Stephen did their radio shows Monday (or Tuesday/Wednesday) like normal. So something is up!
Why would Dan Quinn want to work for Wal-Mart? They would probably send him out to the parking lot to wrangle those shopping carts!
Jerruh likes a little tension within the ranks. He probably feels like McCarthy will try harder, work harder if he has Dan Quinn breathing down his neck. Jerruh dangles the HC job in front of Quinn thinking it will motivate him also to work harder. He doesn’t want anyone comfortable in their position.
I guess we can look at the last 25 years for the Cowboys and see how that management style works in the NFL.
He wants to Win a Super Bowl in Dallas .
*He wants to Win a Super Bowl in Dallas as the Head Coach. Preferably, anyway.
Jerry's also about to give Quinn a raise, where he'll be making HC money. But I don't think there's any doubt in all 3 of them that Dan Quinn is the HC contingency plan.
@Larry Capoya You mean Championship-Calibur Coaches, I hear you. But I promise you they still love money too. Besides, what's Quinn supposed to tell Jerry? "No, I don't want the HC money you're offering me to remain your DC. Because 'Champion!'" Nobody has, is, or will ever say that.
It's not hard to figure out. He's getting paid basically a HC's salary to be D-Coordinator and if he were to leave for Denver he'd be stuck with a team that is in disarray with a 34-year old QB he doesn't want and no 1st round pick. And his family loves living in Dallas. The Cardinals job was a better deal, but then he may have felt uneasy with Kyler Murray. So you take the interviews. It gives you leverage with Jerry to pay you more and you only take a job if you get a great deal with a team that basically has everything you want.
How about no one offered him a HC job, so he is saying he chose to stay to save face.
Head coach when McCarthy gets the boot. Sometimes it's tough to move your family too. Good money with less stress.
He made same comment last year, 'unfinished business'!!
Rich is feeling itchy! digging for something anything! LOL
Rich, you can’t knock somebody weighing their options for their career.
At no point did Rich knock him. He's just trying to figure out why he would interview for a HC job and then stay put in Dallas. Where did the knocking come into it?
Getting paid Head Coach money for DC responsibilities. And probably a promise of replacing McCarthy if that doesn't work out. This isn't rocket science dude!
Why would you employ as a HC a man who allowed a 28-3 lead in a SB evaporate, when all they had to do was kick a field goal.
Dan Quinn just wants to coach ball and avoid all the BS. Sometimes sticking to what you love is enough.
Is it possible that deep in his soul he doesn't really want another Head Coaching job? He was great as the DC in Seattle, terrible as the Head Coach in Atlanta and seems to be good again as the DC in Dallas. Some coordinators are better in that position than in the Head Coaching position. It's a way different life when you're in the lead position.
The word is Quinn has made a salary deal that pays him a wage that's " competitive with head coach wages "
He likes the players
And this falls into what Arsenio Hall says: Things that make you go hmmmm
The way you talk yourself into things is impressive. Lucky for you that there are people around you to keep the reality checks coming despite stringing more long bows together than the English at Agincourt.
I think it's a little of both. I think he has a shot at being the hc of Dallas but I also think he knows he has a generational player in parsons and other great players and wants to do whT he did instead settle and build an all time defense unit
Obviously he's gonna be the new head coach there
I'm sick of speculation being reported as breaking news.
Maybe something wasn't up in Denver.
Quinn will be a good fit for this team. Your spidey sense could be right.
Did you really think Shaun Payton is going to be a puppet coach???
I bet he is very well paid.
9 mil a year he’s paid like a head coach
With no income tax in Texas 🤑
Ultimately, it's Quinn's decision, not what any sports TV or radio show thinks or says.
I believe it’s the money being offered and the headaches that come with being a HC.
Jerry has basically already said this. I don't understand the shock.
Dan Quinn DC for Cowboys is perfect fit.
Also he has had success as a defensive coordinator more so than as a head coach. Going to the superbowl was a great accomplishment. But it was also marred by the embarrassing second half which was riddled with poor coaching decisions.
He had his Super Bowl… his OC would not stop passing the ball.
I've seen all these other comments. But for real... What job could he take that's a better gig? And OBVIOUSLY he's next in line in Dallas. Facts
What if he is hearing that next season is Pete caroll’s last season and he wants to go to Seattle?
This is distinctly possible. There's inside stuff in the NFL we never hear, until months later it looks like an overnight deal was made.
After DQ's tenure in Atlanta. I also think DQ learned alot about what went wrong and what he can improve to be a better HC. Even if it is the Dallas job.
I don't think Quinn is sticking around because he thinks he can get the Cowboys' job. I think he's sticking around around because he feels like he can be picky and wait for the right job. a) He's probably making more than a few HCs, b) He feels like if he takes a job and doesn't succeed, there may not be a 3rd opportunity.
Dan Quinn has been a head coach before and he knows what he is looking for. He will be a hot candidate every year and wants the best fit for him. Jerry Jones is probably making him the highest paid DC and more than some head coaches.
Remind me of the Josh McDaniels situation in New England where he stayed put either waiting for Belichick to retire or a good fit. In Quinn’s case, he is just waiting for mcCarthy to be fired.
Or Pete Carroll to retire in a year or two. Go back to Seattle. He'd be welcome back with open arms.
I knew as soon as the Cowboys originally signed Quinn, he was a Head Coach in waiting!
Why does something have to be up for him to just stay where he has had success??
Dan Quinn is MAN that has A PLAN😉
Job security is always the best
Hope your spider senses are right about DQ as HC at Cowboys 😊
I fear it being a lateral move.
He should become Dallas' head coach but sadly I don't think Jerry is going to get rid of McCarthy anytime soon. He just sees their win record.
Jerry can watch what happens from Heaven. (We think.)
I bet Jerry is paying him HC money to be DC. Great money and not HC responsibility. I’m sure he might take that. But this discussion is valid as well
There's nothing to bet. HC money is in Quinn's contract for '23.
Quinn is making more money as DC at Dallas than most head coaches make. Why the hell would any coach want to go to Denver and take over that mess that is stuck with WIlson?
My spydie sense went off when we hear about all these coaches being let go but Quinn makes his own decision he is staying.
He's a good DC. He just couldn't figure out how to stop the run this year.
Didn’t his Atlanta team blow a 25 point lead in the superbowl?
He can’t be that good of a DC😅
Rich!! Please understand that Jerry met with Dan Quinn and he paid him an increase in salary to stay. If you can make the same money as a Defensive Coordinator you stay and work with less pressure. Jerry simply has to match any offer he receives.
Mike McCarthy better update his resume.
