- Benjamin Netanyahu, has promised to take Al Jazeera off air in Israel.
Calling it a 'terror channel', he accused the network of harming Israel's national security and actively participating in the October the 7th attack.
Al Jazeera says the accusations are slanderous, and jeporadise the rights and safety of its employees worldwide.
Rights groups are alarmed and warn Israel is trying to censor coverage of the war in Gaza.
But this isn't the first time Israel has targeted Al Jazeera or its journalists.
So how will this ban impact its coverage? And what are the wider implications for the broadcaster?

However, if you compare their reporting overall to news in the US/NA is of much higher quality. First, I don't consider news in the US journalism... it is just mass entertainment & gov propaganda/blunt lies. Second, regardless of the Muslim world, US news channels don't even remotely cover conflicts & regions that Al JAzeera covers like Latam, Africa, and Asia Pacific (regions in which I lived/travelled/and read about and have a good understanding).

Aljazeera hasn't 'conquered' anything. It has just shone a light on one side of this war without giving any coverage to the other side. In that respect it is very much like western stations who choose a side then promote it. I don't think people understand the severity of the situation, Israel has attacked a foreign consulate, that in itself is considered by the UN Charter to be an act of war plain and simple, how is this different than the other attacks? They attacked a diplomatic mission which is protected under the UN Charter, countries cannot go out and arrest diplomats, they can only expel them if you are the hosting country. In this case Israel is not even the hosting country, the fact this is being discussed whether Israel is in the right or wrong is completely irrelevant. If no consequence comes of this attack, then this can create a horrible precedent for fear of lack of deterrence which will lead to a fall in international collaboration with other countries
