  • The all-new active suspension on the Audi A8 is a fully active, electromechanical suspension system, which drives each wheel individually and adapts to the prevailing road conditions. Each wheel has an electric motor which is powered by the 48-volt main electrical system. Additional components include gears, a rotary tube together with internal titanium torsion bar and a lever which exerts up to 1,100 Nm (811.3 lb-ft) on the suspension via a coupling rod.

    Genuinely interested in adapting something like this to retrofit into older cars. It’s by no means simple in execution but it is a bit simple in concept. 4 wheel active dampers coupled with road sensing. Give it a couple years and maybe you could plug two aftermarket radars on the front into an aftermarket EMS system and boom: luxury ride in an old Subaru or Lexus or something.

      its not that way,its about habits,people demands,sector demands,luxury needs etc.when you develop sth,you have to make sure that it must be profitable and reachable,the most important of all it must be demanded by the car buyers and user.You have to think much more global i guess otherwise you can easily be wiped out of the industry by making futile investments...

      The beam that runs along the floor (not sure what the technical term is) is WAY stronger than the door itself. That's why it lifts it.

      @anteconfig5391 Před 5 lety

      @Clayton Hoskinson
      it only makes sense if what Yuri Pandher says, here in the comments, is true. Other than that it wouldn't make sense.
      If you don't have enough time to avoid getting hit what you would actually want to do is to lean into the collision. If you don't then you'll get knocked of balance. In the case of this car it would go into a roll if it leaned away from the collision (if the collider slammed hard enough).

    • @vrajeshK.I.E.E
      @vrajeshK.I.E.E Před rokem

      Because when the starts to brake it has incredible amount of torque, enough to push your back off the seat and even flip the car upside down it were'nt for the 4 wheels. When the front suspensions block the car from rolling with hydraulic pistons (shock absorbers), it also helps you to survive the gs. It's just for safety.
