      Clapton became good friends with Jimi. I don't know where you got the racist bs from, but it is a straight up lie. Every musician that played with Jimi loved him, they all got famous from stealing his licks and using them in there music. If you can call that stealing, because there is very little actual "new" music. Ritchie Blackmore tells how everyone in the period were influenced (stole) from Jimi's music. It's pretty incredible when you here it explained by one of the best guitarists of the time.

The world only knew of Jimi Hendrix for 3 years, 9 months, and 2 days before his death. In that time, the man would change the sound of music and inspire countless musicians for generations to come. Even today, it is near impossible to learn guitar without learning about Hendrix and the impact he had on music. When people speak of guitar legends, few can compare with Jimi Hendrix.

    the reason Jimi said he was "scared to death" was only because Peter Neal (who was making the documentary) told him before they started shooting this section, they only had a few minutes of film left in the camera. (film was expensive even then, people were making films with not much money) The guys were shooting a different film for the band. they asked Jimi if they use the end of the roll of film on him playing an acoustic, which would be different. He had no acoustic guitar with him so one of the guys ran back to his house to get his Zemaitis 12 string acoustic (which at the time were made in London by Tony Zemaitis) just so Jimi could play this piece, he never used this guitar again as it wasn't his. they also had to re-string it because of Jimi being left handed.

      @@antoinettedresser6446 Yes, he played a right-handed Fender restrung for him. I'm left handed so I checked out what that means. There's a great article with laymen explanations of the significance. If I remember, the strings are reversed so the lengths are different and the tension is different which results in a unique sound. Also, the heights of the magnets in the pickups are reversed so again a unique sound. He adapted and overcame the obstacle of being left-handed.

    • @ggstudio6664
      @ggstudio6664 Před 3 lety +32

      Jimi did of course play a right handed guitar re strung upside down, left hand Strats were non existent. But he did occasionally for show play a right handed guitar upside down without being restrung with friends. This twelve string is restrung left handed.
      But here's the thing that no one ever mentions, Jimi was actually right handed, so it wasn't that tricky for him. He wrote right handed and did everything else like throw right handed.
      He's bending the strings because this guitar is tuned down two whole steps to C from standard E.

    One of my favorite things I’ve heard about Jimi Hendrix was how much he practiced. He always had the guitar on him. People who toured with him said it was common to find him in the morning, on the bed, still dressed, bed still made, asleep with the guitar still in his hands. I’ve done that a couple times and remember being so proud the first time I did it. That’s pure passion and dedication. Growing up, whenever I got into something new, if I wasn’t able to do it right off the bat, I would get frustrated and quit. Until high school when I realized that I loved guitar and skating so much, that I have to get good at them no matter what. It wasn’t even a choice. It’s like my soul was telling me this is something I absolutely have to do, something I can’t live without. Those two things taught me how to learn, and that nothing is out of your reach if your willing to make an effort, and put in the time and the work.

I can easily see him having done 70s stuff that might be sold as jazz albums. It would have been fascinating to see what a slightly older Jimi made of 70s America and 70s Britain - two increasingly different places. I can easily imagine him travelling and settling for periods all over the world, listening and playing as he went. At 78, he'd probably have orchestral works under his belt as well as collaborations with people like Fela Kuti, maybe some percussive Mediterranean based musical culture whether Arabic or otherwise, lots of concerts. But he would still be a blues guitarist. That would always be there. There's no doubt about that for me.

      Absolutely natural. Singing cantata and perfectly on point.

      Ikr I like the 60s-70s footage quality way better then the 90s-early 2000s quality.

      Film kept its quality. They can still pull Bluray HD quality rips from good old film stock in proper condition. Your early 2000s home video was crappy digital compression, lol.
