  • The cell cycle, or cell-division cycle, is the series of events that take place in a cell leading to duplication of its DNA (DNA replication) and division of cytoplasm and organelles to produce two daughter cells.

DNA Replication : • DNA Replication Made Easy
In cells with a nucleus, as in eukaryotes, the cell cycle is also divided into two main stages: interphase and the mitotic (M) phase (including mitosis and cytokinesis. During interphase, the cell grows, accumulating nutrients needed for mitosis, and undergoes DNA replication preparing it for cell division. During the mitotic phase, the replicated chromosomes and cytoplasm separate into two new daughter cells. To ensure the proper division of the cell, there are control mechanisms known as cell cycle checkpoints.
The cell-division cycle is a vital process by which a single-celled fertilized egg develops into a mature organism, as well as the process by which hair, skin, blood cells, and some internal organs are renewed. After cell division, each of the daughter cells begin the interphase of a new cycle. Although the various stages of interphase are not usually morphologically distinguishable, each phase of the cell cycle has a distinct set of specialized biochemical processes that prepare the cell for initiation of cell division.

ok thank you for the correction, you could add it as a popping message on the video if you want to help people who have not seen your comment.
I also have a question: in the S phase the DNA is replicated, and on your illustration you use chromosomes , but later on in the mitotic phase you explain that the genetic material within the cell goes from random string to chromosome-shape, which comfuses me: could you clarify at which point of the cell cycle the genetic material is shaped as a chromosome? thank you

4:30 The number of chromosomes does not double in S phase. The number of chromosomes remains the same (46 for humans), but each chromosome goes from having one chromatid (having a single DNA molecule) to having 2 sister chromatids (having 2 DNA molecules, with the old and new chromatid attached to each other).

6:54 Pro-metaphase is actually part of prophase. Some sources call it pro-metaphase and others call it late prophase, but it is the same events for either term. Both types of sources have for metaphase only the events related to the chromosomes lining up at the metaphase plate (which by the way is equatorial, not equitorial).
