    Wow bloody awesome finish. I think I will be incorporating that into my pieces from time to time!

    I can't help wonder how an old battered desk would turn out if this treatment was applied. Really want to have a crack at this. Subscribed!

    Here's a suggestion! Burn it like you did but in those ridges, use a glow in the dark resin in a cool color! I think that would be awesome! I have always loved the look of burned wood with the glow in the dark effect. The extra color really makes it pop! AWESOME JOB!

      Thanks! I was thinking about doing something like that as well. I might have to in the future!

    The reason you light it on fire is because you can. ;-)
    That and the results are amazing, as per usual. Another great video!

    Great video. I like the burned finish look and use it a lot on outdoor furniture. Thanks for putting links to Amazon on the tools you use. The french cleat rocks. Normally I make my own but for $8.00. WOW!!

      Hey thanks for this comment! I love these cleats and it’s so convenient over making them, I agree. Especially because I can ship them with a client job as well.

    Nice work! I've just started playing with charring "new" lumber for some outdoor projects and am interested in the idea of using it to restore pieces like this. Thanks for sharing.

    Great vid Jodie. Tackled a couple with ok results, wood was too dark on one. I did take the frames apart and remove the mirrors though, only a few pins holding on the backing. Been using Liberon concentrated dyes here in the UK. They are awesome as you can reduce it to go lighter and depending on amount of coats you can almost get a fade. Didn’t think you’d be able to do that on wood without an airbrush, well happy👍

    • @InspireWoodcraft
      @InspireWoodcraft  Před 6 lety

      That’s awesome! Yeah I’m just glad this one was an old mirror with actual glass. Otherwise it would have all been a waste if I didn’t take it apart. I started to, but the back of this one had like 50 staples in it holding it on. Too much work. Ha!

      Have to say dude this is really good fun. Along with my Pyrography pen nothing is safe and as most stuff is pulled from skips, it’s also really cheap hobby, bonus!

    Nice work. Did you think of using the same drill kit after burning as your used to strip the paint? Seems like that would be quicker than a hand held brush…

    I like to use boiled linseed oil also, but I think I would’ve used tongue oil at least three or four coats!.
    But your mirror came out very nice.👍👍👍😎🇨🇱 great job...

    Thank you for sharing your shoulder Shou sugi ban experience. I have a question. I am making a picture frame. Should I burn the wood prior to making the frame, or cut the wood to size then burn it, or burn the long board the cut and assemble the frame. Thank you for helping me

    Question,? What finish, Does the Boiled Linseed Oil, give to the Burnt wood as a finish,? I may want to try it on the Baseball Bats that I told you about Flame burning them, then applying the Linseed oil etc.

    • @mgeez6147
      @mgeez6147 Před 5 lety

      I feel the same way -- what about charring wood for fencing or decking. Working with wood is easier than bricks, concrete or blocks (heavy).

    Awesome work, but I was wondering what knife you used to cut the blue tape

    • @InspireWoodcraft
      @InspireWoodcraft  Před 5 lety

      Thanks for the watch and for asking! So I just looked on Amazon and I couldn't find the black one, but this is the same thing in orange: amzn.to/2XIIqnj I LOVE this knife and use it as an every-day-carry. The knife and the blades are more expensive than regular utility knifes but in my opinion it works for so many more things. The one and only issue I have from an EDC standpoint is that you can't use it aggressively from side to side because the blade is so thin. But other than that it's AWESOME!
