    Great video, really enjoyable to watch especially with the different games a lot to think about. I'd say generally just a bit too loose in the double board hands might be an idea to keep it a bit more snug. Also looked a bit loose in the PLO8 hands too, KKQ6 should be going into the muck pre always I'd say. Would you ever be tempted to take a shot at a bigger game for the vlog or do you think its a bit early for that?

    1. The Q 10 bomb pot is a tough one. The fact that you had the nut flush redraw, you weren't super deep and multiple people in the pot, I think you made the right move. If you were super deep I'd fold.
    2. The table is lucky you weren't dealt in, otherwise the jackpot wouldn't have hit.

    • @DonkFishPoker
      @DonkFishPoker  Před 2 měsíci

      Yeah it’s a close one but I think with not much on the bottom and playing against a tight opponent I should fold there.

    I play hold'em as a main game, but we play bomb pots every orbit, 4/5/6 ones double board
    I got quite good experience in them and I'm up a lot of money in them (have special separate count)
    In the first instance it's not a fold, it's a SNAP FOLD, in a second situation it's call and fold the river
    To not just "say to say" stuff, but actually give you logical explanation:
    In bomb pots in general you want either have a unbreakable nuts or something that blocks others from having thing and big hand on the other board
    Or having one board draw and second with a strong made hand. If you just have one board nuts, but board is fluid someone can have the same nuts, then you slowplay till turn and watch the action, just call and proceed cautiously or if the action is too big then fold the nuts (hence snap fold in first case)
    Second case you clearly have a nuts, OTT on one board that nobody can have, but it's still vulnerable, you can't make a hand on the other board and even case Q could lose to a straight so, there is really no card to help. Don't blow the pot OTF, just call turn and fold the river.
    If you play those spots like standard Omaha or if you try to push variance you will only end up losing 2-3 BI without a reasonable chance to get them back soon as it's not often that people will get involved.
    Final word, in bomb pots with the nuts that only you can have (flush, quads etc.) You WANT more people in the pots, so, with a flush you bet small and never raise (yes, it sounds stupid, but yes!) as if board get paired you get away with a small loss, secondary you get paid by all sets that want the board paired so, if you're losing other board you chop the money you took from others, otherwise you just chop your own money and second player most often.
    If you want to know a bit more about bomb pots just send me an e-mail we can just talk on Skype or elsewhere. Good luck!

    Regarding the bad beat jackpot. I was once assigned to a table that had an open seat ahead of the big blind. I passed on the big blind and the table hit the jackpot. When I told the table they only hit the jackpot because I passed on the big blind, I received a total tip of $20 tip from the table. I thought I should have gotten a bit more-jackpot was $25,000 and it was $2-4 limit game! I learned a valuable lesson that day. NEVER pass on the blinds. A couple of years later I busted out and had to do the walk of shame by visiting the ATM. When I got back to the table the dealer asked if I wanted to pay for my missed blind and I said yes. The jackpot was hit that hand and I got my share!

      Oceans 11 Casino located in Oceanside, CA. The Card room is in Northern San Diego County. The table amount was $4-8 vs what I listed earlier. I’ve actually had two table shares over the years. Both after I learned my lesson of always paying for your blinds!

    I actually think you have to fold the KQT3 hand.
    You know at best you are chopping and have no shot to scoop. You also know there isn’t anything else he can be potting the turn with besides Q10. Maaaybe a set of aces but that’s pretty unlikely with an ace on each board.
    You have 8 outs to make a nut flush (maybe) and scoop the top board but no matter what you’re chopping. You also know you have no fold equity either
    Risking your whole stack to maybe win the top board but most likely get quartered?
    This is a rare scenario that only comes up in double board games, and I know it’s counterintuitive to fold the nuts with a redraw but I think you just gotta do it here.
    Source: we play double board plo bomb pots every orbit at my home room.

    • @DonkFishPoker
      @DonkFishPoker  Před 2 měsíci +1

      You’re right, it makes matters worse that I played with Haven and knew he also had the QT.
      There is always something new to learn in poker especially in these bomb pots haha

    • @nicholi2789
      @nicholi2789 Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@DonkFishPokerNo problem. It’s just you know this can never be a profitable spot given the game dynamic and it being double board. You risk your whole stack to win half the pot 20% of the time, and win a quarter of the pot 80% of the time. Sometimes you just gotta fold the nuts in double board games.

    I was just at HP about 10 days ago. My session was lack luster getting stuck on the first BP round and then fighting back to book an $85 loss. I do enjoy the room and the ROE of 3 games is a good mix. If you end up with not much in BP rounds that $120 can be draining.
    Thoughts on the two big hands...on the QT with a redraw on top, but nothing on the bottom I think you have to fold. If you had as little as 3 outs on the bottom then maybe?? but realistically you are likely getting quartered and only have a flush draw for half.
    On the second one I think you did fine....you have the nuts on the bottom board and a gutshot on the top. Plus with 2 clubs top and bottom the most obvious draws are blocked. It was just a bit of a cooler they hit the baby clubs on the bottom. If you think about it they did the same as you....calling your raise with nuts on one board and a 3 outer on the other.
    I do like HP as a solid place to play...honoring the no missed blind to give you a table share is a good call. When Bad Beat jackpots were common in the rooms I play at, that was also the ruling.

    • @DonkFishPoker
      @DonkFishPoker  Před 2 měsíci

      I agree with your assessment on both the bomb pots. I don’t typically play when I’m only drawing to half at best but I guess I just got hung up on the Royal flush draw haha
      The 2nd one is a bit of a cooler as you said, unfortunate he hit one of the few remaining clubs left, oh well it happens.
      I’ll definitely be back there as it’s a fun mix. Maybe next time I’ll see you there, thanks for the feedback Phil!

    Bomb pots lol - top set on a very wet board with little or no equity on the other board is always a very tough spot to be in. I suspect if you haven’t already invested too much fold is probably the right way to go as otherwise you are just giving villain a very pleasant free roll.
    Obviously if the pot is multi-way that changes everything as if top set holds you actually make some money.

    • @DonkFishPoker
      @DonkFishPoker  Před 2 měsíci

      Yeah as I mentioned I didn’t love any option that much, thought I had to charge any draws and even if they called with a flush draw there were 2 clubs on each board so they’re blocking their own outs. Just unfortunate he hit the wheel and hit the flush on the other board. You live and you learn especially with bomb pots.
