    Running the Stocklock Extreme in mine - makes a huge difference and I love that its all controlled by the regular trans shifter, simply an on/off button on the dash for when you want it disabled.

      Hey Shane! I've heard a few people say the new extreme unit is really good - glad to hear you are loving it mate!

    Got the same lock up kit. Prolly 2 years old now. Going great.

    Incorrect about PWM - Wholesale Automatics’ lockup kit is also PWM and is manually controlled on/off, so you can engage it for low range crawling down steep hills, not 40km/h.

      Thanks for confirming - as I said in the video the Stocklock was the only one that I was aware of at the time. I think anyone's lockup kit would be good as long as it was PWM - and manual lockup for low range sounds like it could be handy!

    now you need the trans re tune and you will find a Nice change also and 6th comes in earlier have the lock up and trans re tune and it goes a lot better.

      Danny Jansen I’ve tried 3 x different trans tunes now and it’s hard to find a good one-4-all solution. If the tune works well for every day driving it sucks for towing and vice versa. Have seen a lot of cooked boxes popping up lately as well from bad trans tunes so I’m more than happy for now to stick with the standard tune :)

      Unlucky for you mate, Stocky actually has full time job as well, if he cant keep up with orders does that tell u something?

      @@cjwall4268 - that may be true but you need to have some processes and procedures in any business to ensure customers end up with a good experience.
      My issue was I contacted/left msg and then finally spoke to him, ordered one and was told they had Xmas backlog to clear. I then did not hear anything until early June with no updates so did not even know it was coming!

    Nice Troy! Been wondering for a while what way I should go and mind made up. I was worried about excess stress locking up in higher gears eg 5 or 6 but I’m guessing there is no issue with towing loads?

    • @TroyStaines
      @TroyStaines  Před 4 lety +1

      I haven’t had any issues mate - typically the car won’t sit in 6th if it’s under load it always drops back to 5th. Makes a huge difference to the way the car drives!

    1:00 All automatic gearboxes? I think what Dan the owner of Stocklock Autos means is the Stocklock lockup kit is available and advertised only for a very selective range of LandCruisers. Otherwise you may find yourself like the rest of us waiting on a very long queue and for a very long time with no guarantees that a Stocklock with EVER be released for your vehicle.
    Thanks for info, but what a very bad waste of time for everyone!

  • @craigsmith271
    @craigsmith271 Před rokem

    Did you have to get the auto retuned once kit was installed, like the Richards kit?

    • @TroyStaines
      @TroyStaines  Před rokem

      Nah mate you don't need any of that with the Stocklock because it doesn't throw codes like some of the others!

  • @hanscaspersz4900

    These units risk damage to the transmission by bringing in overdrive 5th and 6th too early at too low speeds. If it was such a good idea Toyota would have done this themselves.

    • @TroyStaines
      @TroyStaines  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Hans - the Stocklock doesn’t change the shift positions of the gearbox at all. Still requires you to be doing over approx. 105kmph to shift into 6th. I’ve had mine now for around 150,000kms, a lot of which was towing, and haven’t had any issues. I have heard of a lot of issues with people getting gearbox tune because this does change the shift points and does exactly what you described above, especially when towing.
