What Polish do you use for the cars you do and were can I get it from
"Pretty much the entire body is a hard to reach, easy to forget spot". I built the Tamiya road version of this car on my channel and truer words have never been spoken.
Great video Tom
This color is beautiful. And that is a really good tip of starting with the “hard to reach, easy to forget spots” first, I always get excited when spray painting and forget to pay extra attention to those smaller trims and hidden corners of the body. Thank you for the tips, Tom!
Tom always paints his cars in the exact same way, the "hard to reach, easy to forget spots" is almost his slogan!
The pod on the top is the IMSA camera pod (probably has some other sensors too) that all IMSA cars have to have now. Usually you'll see a small decal that has the car number as well from the camera shots during the race to help officials identify cars for penalties (helps the viewers too), these were added after one of the Porsche's from the 2014(15?) 12hrs of Sebring got dinged for a penalty that should have gone to the sister car. The reason the Revell Le Mans kit has this pod is that Revell USA was originally doing the R&D on the kit but with the death of Hobbico German picked up the project and switched the decals to the Le Mans car. That pod is not on a Le Mans/WEC car only the car when it races in NA.
Wow, so cool seeing it take shape and come to life. Looking forward to future videos, great work. Thanks for the video.
Im not necessarily a beginner modeler because I repaint action figures, but I’m very new to motorsport model kits. I just picked up my own Ford GT and a BMW M6 to make for my dad (since he loves BMWs) and I just wanna let you know that as a 16 year old, your tutorials make it way easier for me to understand how to make model cars correctly. Thank you!
WoW.. That is one amazing paint job Tom. You work has seriously inspired me. In fact, I took the plunge and bought everything I need (Iwata HP-CS, a good start of Zero paints, interior & exterior and even ordered some Ferrari Grigio Medio I saw in one of your vids. I have all this stuff sitting on my desk and I cant use any of it. The compressor is taking forever as it creeps across the country. Should be here in the next day or two. Hopefully, I will start getting some results that at least resemble your amazing work...
Very nice color. Very nice video. I've begun using your technique for removing mold lines. Thank you
The purple looks pretty sweet. Looks like a super complicated kit this time around with the the photo etch and everything. Eager to see the outcome.
Beautiful color can't wait to see it with decals on it,amazing video and content as always live the channel keep the builds coming
As always....Nice Work!!! Love your videos!! Excited about this series. I'll be watching.
Nice! Ordered today the color and decals for my next Ford GT.
How about a Knight Rider KITT model? On Ebay there are some from Aoshima.
Great painting , I like very much this model of Ford GT LM , great carosery painting !🏆🥇👍
Awesome start !!!!!!!!!
Nice job on the small fine details...
WOOOOW! What a color! congrats
Nice shiny paint job too!!
I'm so happy you didn't choose an odd color for this one! 🤪
A well detailed Kit..
The round pod on the top is a camera for TV. Some cars have real ones and some are fake so all cars are the same.
Very nice color, i love it
That's a really cool color.
great color
Tom,,,,,,,,,,,,, Hiiiiyoooo still Kickin butt torning out Beautifull kits my Freind!
I find the Tamiya 600 grit is a bit too coarse as there are still visible scratches after the primer coat. I'll use the 600 and then smooth things out with 1000 before applying primer.
I got a giggle out of hard to reach... comment. :) This video was a really interesting one. You've done mods before, but this just is very interesting to me. :)
nice color
Bubble on top of the roof Sounds like Antenna and or Video Cam device
Bro Good job Good video
Hey everyone (Tom) just did my first Zero paint job with Ferrari 70th Anniversary Jewel Green on a C7 Revell Corvette and it came out pretty damn decent I must say. Just wondering of their is anything I can do for minor, minor imperfections before maybe laying down a final coat...
What airbrush and what size tip are you using?
Hi Tom, thanks for building this model and doing a video on the build. I have this exact model. Been reading the instructions and haven't yet jumped on it. This has gotten me revved up to do it. One question. I see that Zero Paints doesn't sell directly. Where can I find them in the US. My plan for my car was the Ken Miles style livery form the 2019 LeMans team. But seeing this color is making me rethink. Thanks for the help. Keep up the great work. 👍👍
Www.hiroboy.com sell zero paints.
Camera pod?
Have ever considered doing a low rider?
Do you wear mask when you are filing the plastic?
Is that a new paint stand? Sure looks clean!
Could be, yes. I have multiple
I think that could be roof sensor or 360 camera. But otherwise nice paint job
that thing on the roof is supposed to be a TV camera is the same with NASCAR stock cars but yeah it looks like a bump
Hi, may I ask an important question concerning Zero paints. Through extensive experence have you found Zero paints to be a little hot and lightly to craze over styrene compared with other paints. I ask because I do find the primers to be an issue and not as forgiving as the Tamiya primer. Kind regards Dave Porter London
Yes. They tend to be a bit hot. Some colors are worse then others
You should gift this to Stradman... He is profound of purple.. And loves ford gt but can't get it cos ford doesn't want him to buy... 😁 This will sure make him happy.. 😂😊
Question for the subscribers/community?? When buying after market tires & wheels from places and makers like Hobby Design, Hiroby etc... I notice many of them are listed as 18", 19", 20" etc.... How do I know what I will be able to fit on what model??
I used to wonder the same but most aftermarket wheels are not model-specific, model kits have different wheels fittings(Tamiya has male fittings when Fujimi and Aoshima have female fittings, Revell also has its own wheel fitting I believe). Most of the time you have to modify the aftermarket wheels to fit on your model, and the size of the wheels isn’t such a big issue, just try to be realistic when buying them(for example, a 20” wheel might not fit on a small Honda Civic but might fit fine on a bigger car). Hope that helps😁 and have fun with your builds!
Hey... Need some advice here. Using Zero Gray Filler/Primer and I know this may sound a bit nuts but the color I am getting is extremely light. Almost unable to see light until you get 3 or 4 coats built up...Am I missing something. Tom, your primer always seems much darker and easy to see?? WtF??
I use zp-3001
@@TheScalemodelingChannel Thanks for your reply, very much. I have the ZP primer too.. Just 3008 but I think it is just a different size from the 3001. Do you physically stir yours or do you just shake it? The guys at Hiroboy said I might just need to give it a good stir...??
i shake and stirr it. 3008 is the same indeed
I was going to say the part at the top was a small air intake but it's probably a camera
I would say it is the lamp for the roof number.
I think it is the occupied light like in a taxi so you know if it is being used or not.
Why did you remove the front scops ??
Gamers Vlog like i said in the video. I will be replacing them
Hey guys just wondering if you could help me out. I built a kit that had metal rod for wheels like a idiot I broke one of the wheels I want to buy some new wheels. Just wondered if I have to look for a certain type. Still new to model building. Any help or links would be really appreciated. I was looking at these 1:24 Scale SSR Professor SP1 19'' Wheel and Tyre Set Accessories Model Kit #217

Do you ever get tired of making model cars?
Nope
@@TheScalemodelingChannel lol!
This is the only pic I could find that uses the video camera pod. fordauthority.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Ford-GT-GTE-3.jpg
