I am considering switching from Google Photos to OneDrive. They offer the same price. I use a Samsung device which has integrated OneDrive cloud backup, so I don't need an additional app like Google Photos. Another reason is that I use Windows, which keeps everything within one ecosystem.

Oh you'll have a nightmare downloading your photos. Good luck! Unless they've changed anything in the last few months, I switched last year from Google to Microsoft Ecosystem and it was a hell of a job downloading my photos and videos

@@KazrBrekker You are so right! I have renewed my annual Google subscription again. On top of that, I switched from Samsung to iPhone this week. I thought I should transfer everything to iCloud. That was an even worse nightmare than from Google to OneDrive. You can't even upload things in folders so the whole thing became a pure mess. In the end, Google photos turned out to be the most universal solution.

    • @KazrBrekker

@@abdullaalahmed7451 No from Google Photos. You cannot download more than 500 photos at a time so if you have over 10000 photos well good luck manually selecting them and downloading them

I think you get a terabyte included in subscription to 365... I also use pCloud AND Google Drive that way I have two copies of everything... oh, and an external hard drive (but which to choose EM or SSD?). I found that GD makes cache file copies of stuff in the cloud filling up your internal hard drive... it is a tricky business and I doubt I shall ever remove the worries of data loss.

    Nicely done ✔️
Get a hard drive so you don’t end up paying more from recurring charges. But I guess if you really a cloud storage you can consider 😅
Thanks for all the information WE APPRECIATE YOU!

A bit of a simplistic view. You could argue that cloud storage is a good replacement for both your offsite and onsite HDD backups so cost of 2 HHD's which could fail from year 1 onwards, one of which you need to constantly retrieve from an offsite location to backup. The gap in cost / convenience is not as large as you imply.

Belt and braces is worth consideration, cloud and stick/EHD with two copies of your precious files on laptop.

Google cant recover files deleted 1 day ago. Onedrive could recover files deleted from 30 days back

Since I saw your post, as a frequent Google Docs user, I checked. Apparently, deleted files can be recovered using Google Drive. I vaguely remembered that Drive kept previous versions of files, such as documents, so if you lose data, say by accidentally pasting over it, the previous version (and the ones before that) remain accessible.

Install Google Drive's ("Backup and Sync") and OneDrive's desktop apps.
      Connect your accounts.
Sync OneDrive files and folders with your computer.
Drag and drop your files from OneDrive folders to Google Drive.
