- This video is about a fuel consumption challenge we participated in during the recent Honda Civic RS e-HEV media drive.
Teaming up with me were Uncle Leeps from The Star, and Sean Chua of Sin Chew Jit Poh motoring. The route was form Bamboo Hills in Kuala Lumpur to our lunch place in Melaka, a journey of approximately 160 kilometers.
Given 150 minutes to traverse the entire route, we had an average speed of just a little above 60 km/h, but with the traffic jams and slow moving traffic, we had to go quite a bit faster, as there were penalties if we were late.
Thus it was a task of managing our travelling speed based on remaining time and remaining distance, aided in a great way by the Android Auto system that enabled us to use Waze to navigate, which also included an estimated arrival time. Of course we also hade to gamble on whether the route to the lunch venue would be jammed since it would be around lunch time by the time we arrived in Melaka.
So it was two and a half hours of driving with a light foot to get the best consumption - so you can see part of our journey, which includes the heavy traffic in Kuala Lumpur and the last bit of city driving in Melaka.
We managed 27.8 kilometers per liter fuel consumption (which is actually incredible), but unfortunately we only managed third place. Surprised? There were two other cars that did better, clocking 30 kilometers per liter - whilst we drove quite conventionally, and kept the air-conditioner, the other two kept the air-conditioner off, and wound all the windows up to keep a smooth air flow over the car, and beat us, quite fairly, I would say, because there were no rules that said they could not turn off the air-conditioner. So the price paid for the cool comfort of the car was around 3 km/liter of consumption.
Still, this above exercise is a good indicator of the potential fuel economy of the Honda Civic e-HEV RS.
Please enjoy the video, and keep a lookout for our other videos on this lovely car.
Thanks for watching, and Cheers! - Auta a dopravní prostředky
I test drove this civic ehev around pj with massive traffic jam. Still managed to get 18.9km/l. Very impressed with this hybrid powertrain
Uncle!!!!!awesome laaaa!!!!!❤❤❤
Cant wait for the Accord. Mazda & Honda have pulled way ahead of Toyota in modernising & improving the interior
Nice uncle Khong! I will gladly hit 20 km/l with my style of driving.
Uncle, awesome Content. Was City RS apart of the competition as well ? Appreciate if uncle could give us further info on this competition of yours 🙏🏾🙌🏽
No, City RS was not part of this.
Not bad .. 27.8km/l .congrats . BTW , yes those road from malim via tengkera , too many traffic lights . Overall i hope you & the gang had a great time !
Thanks, you too
melaka darul traffic light ma😂, from ayeh keroh go straight follow old road to town not through SPA HW , will get min around 21-27traffic light... (tested when flyover not ready yet )...
ong kim wee road to kota shah bandar is worst, 200m 1traffic light, 5 traffic lights there😂
I can't believe someone can drives around in melaka without aircond in afternoon. 😅
3rd place is fine. At least you tried the car in comfort.
Thanks for the video.
Hahaha, exactly, but actually, other than tryimg to do well, we also wanted to show a consumption figure with AC on.
Haha, can feel the competitive spirit in uncle!
Hahaha, maybe not competitive enough to switch AC off.
Average rpm driving ? 1200rpm ?
Nice car la Uncle...
Sure is
Fuhh padu jimat giler jugak itu...Aku punya Yaris sampai Melaka dapat 4.2L/100km jer masa itu bawa 80/ 95 kmj sebab jalan pun agak sibuk 🥴.
Hybrid memang jimat minyak.
On eco mode tak ?
@@GH-og7kh Normal mode jer bosku, kalau guna eco mode lembab giler tak syok🤣🤣🤣🤣.
Imagine how the CRV with this powertrain will be.. amazing fuel economy
Should be coming soon
Which car on 1st for Fuel Economy?
Impressive fc test. Lucky, you guys use ac else will end up being toast 😂
Hahaha, brownies.
Uncle, my office just around the corners.
In Melaka?
I drived Honda City Hybrid Model 2018 and drive 150km per day (week day), 1 full tank can reach 950 km, and normally refuel 36-38 litres, fuel tank capacity on paper is 40 litres..... most of the time I can achieve more than 930 km per tank.... I also gentle driving style, just share my 5 years driving experience with my Honda City Hybrid Model 2018.
Thank you for sharing. Well done.
can you share so far facing after battery problem or expensive service?
From what I understand is that is it true that the fuel will consume less for the engine to charge the battery and fuel will consume higher for engine is running for the car?
It is the entire system that works to consume less fuel overall. Actually it increases the efficiency to give you the best fuel consumption under any circumstance.
When battery health is getting lower and lower over time, will fuel consumption increased over time?
I think so.
Hardly effect for 1st 5yr maybe. Hybrid rarely fill up for full battery charge.
Impressive results but I don't think my driving style can replicate it
Yup, this was some extremely light footed driving.
So much better than my car 9L/KM 😢
U drive tank ka bro? 😂
Uncle won't be uncle if uncle win first place
Hahaha, let me digest this first....
Uncle Khong, you're a racing driver, not an eco driver.. for sure you couldn't win the 1st prize. :P
Hahaha, true.
nice one uncle.! axia is when ? perodua only can self claim syok sendiri dont dare to make something like this.
btw, where is vtec ? dead already right uncle ? no more vtec for honda. even type R only get TSI ripoff
The Honda Civic RS features VTec.
Tyre pressure psi setup ?
No idea.
@@YSKhongDriving do some competitor add more tyre pressure psi...hehehe...less rolling drag more mileage/kilometerage lor 😆
The car is cost another RM16,500 than RS version. (Not to mention V)
By specifically target on Civic given by 5 year of usage.
Assuming we are making our decision based on cost effective. Will eHev really save up lot of our cost?
Marginal price of eHev given by RS version and divided the differences by 5 year time, every year the owner have to pay additional RM3500 (roughly RM3300 + RM200 road tax) comparing to RS version.
With the figure of RM3500 divided into 12 month, if we chosen RS version, we would have extra budget of about RM290 to spend on fuel.
So I personally think the eHev series doesn’t really worth that money.
If someone found any new idea please feel free to correct me, because I’m still waiting for my RS😂😂😂
I’m also made some comparison on the rs & ehev spec. As for cost effective, it is very hard to achieve cost saving maybe because malaysian fuel price is relatively cheap. Unless we’re driving 200km daily.. 😂
Just curious bro, have you tested both the ehev and the rs turbo?
I think for the Ehev, it goes beyond the economics.
The driving sensation is different. Think of it as an electric car with a charger. The 315 Nm of torque is different from the 240 Nm.
This is true electric drive, if you care to study it.
Wait for my road drive video and listen as I explain how this drive system works.
Yes I have.
@@YSKhongDriving sorry uncle, my comment was for faiz haha. I've also tested both and concluded the ehev is a better car, objectively
driving video at traffic jam is waste of time to viewer...please dont do that again...waste of internet data
And there are those who challenge me to do a fuel consumption video in a traffic jam. How to please everybody?
@@YSKhongDriving its ok uncle, ignore this clown. Fella only know how to bark
If you don't like it u can skip, dont bullshit
