Those sheep may be uncomfortable for a couple of minutes while being dipped, but it's highly beneficial, the liquid helps prevent bacterial infections on their skin and wool, and helps prevent fly larva. It's like a toddler getting a booster shot, it stings for a minute and the toddler doesn't understand why it's happening, but the toddler would be in alot more pain if he/she didn't get the booster shot and got polio. Same with the sheep, they're uncomfortable and don't understand what's happening, but they'd be much worse off and would get horrible infections if it didn't happen. It makes total sense to choose a few minutes of wet discomfort over alot more than a few minutes of pain and illness. Correct me if I'm wrong on any of this
That's far better than what my grandfather and uncles used to dip their livestock. They used a concrete trough with a ramp on each end. This was filled with a solution to kill the ticks and fleas. Far less humane than this method.
For the ignorant who commented that this is cruel, u have obviously never seen a sheep that has been attacked by fly larvae. The become eaten alive. Dipping prevents this
Yes, it is easier than the way it used to be done for both sheep and cattle. My grandfather had a concrete vat with a ramp leading into and out of each end. The animals were herded into the vat at one end, pushed under except for their eyes and nose, and then exited the other end. When all the livestock had been dipped, they usually threw their hunting dogs in to get rid of the fleas and ticks on them.
I saw a video where one machine basically does this but with a light lid over head that looks like its crushing them...This process looks much more humane than that particular device initially had me believe

The way the guy snatched the sheep out of the way of the door at the beginning had me snort 💀
This is better than the other video i saw of all the sheep being submerged by a machine that pushed them down.
This image sums up my life. Drowning in the sludge while flailing about.
The sheep equivalent to a child getting shots: The annual bath.
