  • Fiona was stuck at the bottom of a Scottish cliff for 2 to 3 years; dubbing her 'The Lonilest Sheep in the World'. She was perfectly healthy but her overgrown fleece was needing cut. After being rescued, her postive story made headlines around the world. The next day it was time to restore her to full health with a trip to the salon and finally, to her new home, where she will never be lonely again.

Those protestors saying people shouldn't visit Fiona are unaware of how people friendly sheep can be! Fiona is sweet, curious, and starved of affection. She needs visitors! The farm will manage it so she isn't overwhelmed and gets to just be a sheep with her new herd. ❤

Number one, they don’t actually know animals. Most farm animals are social, and don’t care whether they’re hanging out with a pig, a sheep, a cow, or even a human being.
But maybe more importantly, if they’re trying to protect animals, and perhaps get them more humanely treated, and not eaten quite as often, then they should want the general public to have close contact with animals and keep the pressure on farms to treat them humanely.
      Anyway, nice job shearers!

They don’t care about Fiona. If they did, they would be concerned about the amount of hair that was growing in the issues that it was causing her because of the matting. They just wanted that opportunity to get attention.

I can't believe how calm she's been through the whole rescue and shearing. For a sheep that wouldn't have had that much human contact before she got stuck, she's been so tolerant and even cooperative of the help. I hope she continues to thrive with friends when she's had time to recover from the traumatic events.

From personal experience sheep are excellent at reading body language, and can actually be quite intelligent. They just have this extreme flocking instinct that seems to override whatever common sense they might have.

I am presumingshe had some good farm life before she got stuck, so now she is home in a farm environment again, that is coming back to her. Humans feeding her, other sheep around, getting that heavy coat sheared off, she is finally feeling good again.

It's strategic, it keeps the fleece long enough to give her some warmth for the cold they still have and also means less likely to nick the skin as you have to move slower with the shears. Down side is of course it's slower which if her temperament was different this could have really stressed the poor ewe's body and could be bad as with that much wool it would be hard to check vitals and such. Was quite lucky she was such a calm ewe.

That smile at the end and her calm demeanor throughout says it all 😊. Fiona was so happy to be rescued then relieved of nearly 10 lbs of matted, stinking, dirty wool. This guy did an amazing job in the matter of minutes while making sure Fiona was as comfortable as possible the entire time. Thank you, sir, for caring and putting her health and safety first. Anyone with the ability to comprehend things can see she is in the right place to live her best life here on out. People really should do their own thorough research before protesting things they don’t truly understand; and, don’t forget to fact check your sources.

Something many people do not comprehend. It takes a village for a lot of things to succeed. Kudos to all who played their part in this delightful success story.
