Only those who have successfully completed the operator-training program are authorized to drive Taylor-Dunn vehicles.
When preparing to operate a vehicle, first inspect the vehicle and the immediate surroundings. Check for flat tires, fluid leaks, damage, unsafe cargo, and other potential risks. If the vehicle is on charge, disconnect the charger and properly stow the cord.
When operating the vehicle, sit squarely and properly on the driver's seat. Depending the vehicle model, there may be an automatic parking brake.
To drive, press and hold the brake pedal and turn the key switch on.
Check that the intended direction of travel is clear, select a direction and release the parking brake. Hold the steering wheel or tiller with both hands, release the brake pedal and smoothly press the accelerator pedal. Continue to smoothly press down the accelerator pedal until the desired safe operating speed is obtained.
If the vehicle does not move, repeat the process making sure all the controls are reset. Refer the vehicle to a qualified technician if issues continue.
To slow down, release the accelerator pedal and press the brake pedal to hold at a stop. Turn the directional switch in the center off or to neutral position, turn the key switch to the off position and remove the key. Refer to your company's policy on handling the key. Firmly set the parking brake and exit the vehicle.
Always properly park the vehicle. Do not block aisles, doors, or stairs.
