    I literally tell people that is the best drum sound on an album ever and the most crisp sounding snare I've ever heard in my life

      Amen!
      So true,I never heard a snare drum,that is so perfectly balanced,it’s crispy,articulate,punchy,with precise amount of low end and compression.It’s been already 24 years since and still it sounds sick to me

      well,nothing fancy,it’s just ultra tight tuning on both sides of the snare drum
      Bottom head - until the key almost stops turning,top head - little looser,but still pretty tight.I kinda tried to tune top head to the ringing sound after John Otto’s rimshot,simply by ear.

      @@icecoretower23 what would you recommend in terms of something to get the sound without those? Probably something metal or piccolo?

    • @icecoretower23
      @icecoretower23  Před 8 měsíci

      @@HeyLook287 it doesn’t really matter that much,it depends more on tunning,balance between top and bottom and spring tension,also you gotta be able to execute rimshots and play very dynamic,as you can hear,there is tones of ghost notes placed between every accented shot,so dynamics is the key.You can buy the same equipment as John Otto does,tune your snare drum exactly like him and at the same time sound nothing like him:))So I think,the way you play is more important what you play on😊
      One more thing is die cast hoops,it makes your sound punchier and hella louder and really helps a lot to get that cut through everything you want to
