I myself being a low country raised boy myself I have killed more than my fair share of deer with a 270 its actually my favorite rifle besides the 243 Oh I'm sure that's a big no no to some guys but let me add to what you have said Buck it's not the size of the rifle its knowing how to shoot and being confident with the weapon hell I have killed more than my fair share of deer when I was younger with a 222 and a 223 also keep up the good work and stay safe out in the woods and on the water
I agree it's not the rifle caliber that matters I prefer a .308 but hell I'll hunt with any rifle that's legal its legal to hunt deer with pellet rifles I might even try that.
Like I keep saying most of the so called trophy hunters have not hunted their whole life. I see nothing wrong with managing your deer heard and property and yes I think you should let the deer grow up no need in killing one or two year old deer you will eventually wipe out the population. There are some people out here that hunt that love deer meet me being one horn size means nothing to me age does even with the old slick heads I will not spend the money they charge to mount a deer it is definitely worth what they charge because it is alot of work. Back to antler size doesn't matter to me I have not figured out how to eat them so I don't need them most of your trophy hunters fill their walls with all that money they spend to get them mounted and that is fine but most of them are the biggest egotistical ass holes you have ever been around and are totally against dog hunting,like I have said before when one is standing 50 yards away eating anyone can shoot that deer as long as the rifle is on and don't choke. You let one cross an old tram road or fire break and make sure it is a legal buck if you can't shoot does that day 90% of you still hunters would not have a clue about what to do probably wouldn't even shoot once you figured out it is legal you talk about adrenaline and fun and the kids enjoy it a heck of a lot better than still hunting especially if you have the type of guy "father "that is constantly hollering at the child you have got to hush stop moving hush I'm not bringing you anymore if you don't listen to me and shut the hell up most kids are glad to not go after awhile of that crap and I am not against still hunting either.270 to me is my most comfortable straight shooting consistent sweet ass rifle I've used the same one over 30 years depending on where we are hunting I will dog hunt with it I've shot several deer with it running dogs when you are comfortable with a weapon as soon as I throw that joker up and that deer is in my scope it is night night my furry friend.Thanks for the meat
