The Bounce Home test was proposed to assess for meniscal tears or other intraarticular pathology such as loose bodies by assessing the lack of full knee extension and differentiating end feel.

Because of the abruptness of the drop, it seems to me a client with knee pathologies might be apprehensive to performing this test (if its demonstrated/described beforehand).

Definitely, wouldn't do that test with very acute provocation into extension.
Don't forget that provocative tests want to provoke the pain that patient's are complaining about - so of course they are going to hurt for a brief second.
You can ask yourself if it's helpful to tell your patient tha "this is going to hurt now" or similar will help, as of course it will create apprehension in the patient.
