      Also, consider the fact that many founding fathers quietly freed their slaves out of shame near the end of their lives, and that should tell you something about how slavery was perceived in those days. It was considered barbaric even by 18th c. standards.

      It’s already happening. No one should be afraid of the government. The politicians and government should be afraid of us. Not everyone can be bought for a couple of million bucks. If people wanted to change the system and destroy the status quo the only way to do it without shedding blood is to stop voting. The government would literally fall on their knees and beg the citizens.

      @jimakisspd Před 4 lety +3

      @@crimsonbaron4418 '''you people in the comment section who keep whining do not seem to know what a true totalitarian regime is.'' Apparently neither do you, you've never ever lived or visited any of these ''totalitarian'' countries you mention yet you voice opinions about them out of your ass according to what your media propaganda and hysterical phobia feed you about them and you just parrot it. That's how a serf in a totalitarian system thinks, loving authority out of safety as well as out of fear about how things would be without them.
      ''America, germany, the west in general it's at the best it has ever been''' That's the very definition of totalitarianism, ''We are the best that exists, everywhere else is shithole, nothing positive exists in them and therefore accept the governments and their crimes as they are and be thankful you have them''. That's the main problem with you Westerns and most especially Americans, the fact that you imagine that you are living in the best society in the world, you have no idea about how things are in non-western countries except through TV propaganda and yet without knowledge you hold opinions about them, and that's the main cause for your lack of social evolution!!! But if someone has ever seen the privileges other countries have except for yours and how not only you are ignorant about them but cannot even concieve their existence, this kind of man would laugh at you or be sad about your Stockholme syndrome and how you are completely blind into the fact that your ''antitotalitarianism'' and wtich-hunting you have accepted has actually formed a totalitarianism in itself.
      '''True, sometimes the politicians try to do bad things we then need to correct, but that doesn't mean the world is destroyed.
      '' LOL in Totalitarianism there is no ''destruction'' at all, any form of esoteric destruction would hurt a regime, what characterises a totalitarian system is absolute normality and order, to the point where an individual fears or can't imagine anything in the world without these aspects. Another aspect of totalitarianism is this: having first brainwashed its people into believing that they are living in the best society in the world and that nothing good can exist outside it(therefore creating happy robots), they also change the language when it comes to the system's crimes in order to moderate popular rage against them, censor language and create a renewed more moderate form of language, more 'politically correct''. .Therefore the ruthless crimes against people(both from inside or outside the state, like the USA one) become simply 'bad things that need some correction'', and not barbaric crimes that require punishment for justice, and thus creating a form of apathetic tolerance towards them.
      '''If you truly want to look at a totalitar goverment look at Arabia or China. Hong Kong needs a V, not America.''' Hong Kong is under occupation, which is a totally different aspect. ''Arabia'' as a country doesn't exist, if you are reffering to Saudi Arabia this is theocracy not totalitarianism, totalitarian regimes were born out of modernity and secularism. As for China, name me one thng China commits against people that the USA doesn't.
      ''America, germany, the west in general it's at the best it has ever been.' The very definition of a true Totalitarian system and authority is to convince the people that it is the best that exists, that nothing positive exists outside them and therefore that they must be thankful that these authorities exist because without they they are doomed. Pretty much echoes the modern West's mentality. The people that way love the torments committed by their governments against them, that's the difference between a totalitarianism and a dictatorship, the first has brainwashed people into loving them, just like Germans who fought with their Fuhrer until the end.
      '''V's U.K. was not like ours. There were voncentration camps, in the 90's, people were killed by the police whenever they wanted because they were "harmful".
      ''
      LOL everything you just mentioned exists in America, concentration camps are numberless(a wild Guantanamo also rings the bell), arrests without warrant also exist, police shootings are an everyday reality and everyone radically and seriously criticising the system in the USA is either a nazi or a communist or a terrorist or anything. The fact that you are living in your little house and think the worlds runs like the way your TV shows you, doesn't imply that this is the case in real life. The Totalitarian system is never concieved through the ones living a ''normal everyday life''(who no matter where they are living, they always conform with the little they have), but from the ones fighting against it, while the normal petit-bourgeoisie people and yuppies only decide to percieve totalitarianism when this system has collapsed.

    "every time I've seen this world change, it's always been for the worse"
    I honestly think this is a feeling a lot of people have, and it's an entirely fictious one. The reason we are so negative about our onlook of the world is because we hardly see the positive changes. There's two reasons for this;
    1. Good change is slow, while bad change is quick and spontanious. Projects that aim to improve the world tend to take years to finish, hance they are less noticable. An example would be renewable energy. In the last 20 years, the supply of renewable energy has increased by 160% (in the same time period, the world population has increased by 20%), solar energy which made up ~1000 Giga-watt hours in 2000 is now at over 800 000 Giga-watt hours. We rarely hear about this, because the change is slow.
    2. Bad news sells. The news media loves selling bad stories, because it sells more than good news. If you watch the news, you will notice it is filled with pesimism. War, civil unrest, floods, disease, death, misery. Very rarely do you see a positive story on the news, because good news isn't as interesting, it doesn't invoke shock, it doesn't get the audience's attention. We humans are attracted to problems. We are innate problem solvers, and we love getting obsessing over problems. Sadly this means we hardly ever hear about the positive things happening in the world.

    A concept. An idea. A logo. A meme.
    Whether it's a picture of a green frog called Pepe, the mascot of a large company or the slogan of a political campaign. These are all symbols, the original definition of a meme. The genes of a society and culture. Evolving by thought than through birth. Yet still they mutate.
    Never forget the importance of these. Even that internet meme you shared with your friends can hold the power to cause major change if people give it meaning. Never underestimate or let others corrupt your ideas. They may be bullet proof but even ideas can die or become an abhorrent version of themselves if people will it or seek to undermine it.

      Indeed. Symbols are a meaning of power giving to us and we change it while still keeping its original meaning. Symbols aren’t just for show like a lot of people think, they have a meaning, like everything in life. Symbols help represent a certain meaning and changing that can either keep to its roots, or it can change the world.

    "With enough people, blowing up a building can change the world."
    5 years before this movie, a bunch of people blew up a few buildings. Oh how the world changed since then

      I was thinking of the Oklahoma City Bombing of the federal building. They ended up killing their own kind of people and nothing happened afterwards because they didn't inspire a movement. Few after 9/11 joined Al Qaeda's cause after 9/11 except maybe some Pakistanis who harbored Osama bin Laden and some Palestinians who celebrated.

      This movie also shed light on why those buildings were destroyed and who was really behind it. The beneficiaries. The government at the time and corporations.

    This movie is really intresting and has a lot of different interpretations in my opinion. Is it about a terrorist? Is it about the fall of a corrupt government? Is it about the people? Or is it about the power of ideas, what people are willing to sacrifice in the name of ideals? When does the need for survival get overridden by the need for justice? It's really interesting to look at this movie from that kind of perspective. And I know this movie inspired the Anonymous movement but to me, the core ideas are about..well... ideas... that knowledge is power, that if you lose everything you can find something worth dying for, that there is hope in hopelessness, its similar to The Hunger Games "Hope is stronger than fear" message.
    I don't know I'm just rambling, people may have a different interpretation of the film than I do.

      I see violence as a last resort. In the case of this movie, things had gone so far that he had to kill those Fingermen. He also wanted revenge against those who imprisoned him, tortured him and experimented on him. And there was no way to get justice from a court as they could detain people without oversight.
      Things were really bad in America when this came out with extra-judicial imprisonment (there's still some people in Guantanamo Bay detention cells), torture, lying us into a war in Iraq, killing by contractors (Blackwater etc.) and war profiteering by the Vice-President's company and other contractors.

    People shouldn't be afraid of their governments, governments should be afraid of the people.
    This always has and always will be true as long as there is so many more people, the people just seem to forget this key piece of information
