I’m currently exploring options to modify and fix the strap problem myself. It should be adjustable, that would only make sense given the tight fight of the top cover. There is a quick fix if you just want to give it some extra wiggle room, the bottom buckle is only stitched on where your top buckle clips in to secure the bag shut. If you look inside the bag you can see the stitching to that lower buckle just unstitch and restitch a couple centimetres higher and should help out. I’m considering doing this, but like you i want an adjustable strap.
Good review. Thank You!
Thanks for watching!
The sit pad will fit in the back zipper pocket. I use a cup and bottle in my Helikon Haversack. Yes it's tight fit but fits none the less.
👍🏻👍🏻
get a smaller bottle, or one that is taller but less circumference
The pocket for water bottle is designed for Helikon Tex own "nalgene copy" bottle which has a slightly thinner diameter. I have both Nalgene and the Helikon tex bottle so I have tried both . But I agree it would make sence to make it 1 cm wider.
Good vid on this haversack. I agree with you on the couple of improvements that they could make. I would also like to point out that it looks like you have the smaller one, there is a larger version as well.
Thank you! I did see the larger one. I'm testing out a few other options to see what will work best for me.
Another gem of a bushcraft video Dan! Thanks for sharing and keep up the great gear reviews 🌲🔥👍
Thank you! Much appreciated!!
Thank you for mentioning the water bottle pocket size. I was wondering if it was elastic enough to fit the pathfinder canteen cookset.
Definitely to small. By the way, I really like that cookset!
Have you ever looked a Maxpedition bags?
They have a lot of different sizes and options.
Yes, I've used a couple, but really prefer the traditional haversack with a hatchet sleeve.
Great review and nice bag! Never used a haversack but do really like the concept. My only question would be the shoulder strap. I see it isn’t padded or have a slidable pad like some duffel bags. Do you notice it digging into your shoulder/ neck when loaded out? Cooler temps wouldn’t be an issue within a jacket on but in the summer and maybe only a T-shirts, I would think it would dig in some. Love the channel as always!!
Thanks, yes in a tshirt I do feel the strap, but I have found that if I keep it on the outside of my shoulder, not so much.
Sounds like you need a larger bag.
Still using? This vid a year old now.
Nice!
@@ochocobushcraft1742 what does that mean?? Are you still using it?
@@jwgbmp40 sorry, I thought you were telling me that YOU were still using it after a year. I ended up switching to a sling bag, which is in more recent videos, because it is more comfortable for me.
As much as I like shoulder bags they just are uncomfortable to use. My shoulders just Ache while wearing them.
I hear you. Definitely not for everyone.
Stick the pad in the back pocket or is to big
Makes less room on inside. Thanks though!
Stick the garbage bag in the back “map” pocket. Also protects gear from getting damp from sweat if it’s riding on you lower back for a period of time.
I have the same haversack and agree 💯 with your review and issues identified.
I found the slimmer Klean Kanteen fits the bottle pouch pretty well. I actually keep my UCO single candle lantern in that pouch.
Wish there was some Molly webbing on the bottom that I could strap my sit pad onto. Would be nice so that I was not setting the pack directly on the ground.
You would think in one yr they would have fixed it but NO!!!
Would definitely like to see that change
