- So you want to get better at Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, huh? Well, you're in luck fellow casual. Because this video is just for you! Today I'll be covering how to dominate offline (and online) for 150cc.
This includes going through kart combinations, techniques and even shortcuts that you can take without needing any items.
While I don't talk much about online specifically, these tips can be extremely useful when against other players. I might end up making these for online, 200cc and battle mode for the future, so stay tuned for that!

Huh. Listening to these tips is kind of an eye opener because I am kinda fast when it comes to just being on the track itself, I gotten some pretty good lines and I been consistently nailing wins in single player and always out running my opponents.

Surprised you didn’t mention the infinite blooper. It’s exactly what it sounds like, but it doesn’t work on cpu’s or online, only in local wireless or local.
What you need to do is cut out blobs of black paper with tape on the back, then, when somebody uses a blooper, quickly tape the paper to your opponent’s screen. Then, when they’re confused because the ink never goes away, tell them some lie so they don’t get suspicious.
Just remember to remove it once they pass the finish line or they’ll realize it’s something in real life on their screen when the ink still covers the menu.

As someone who only plays in 200cc, I can confirm that the majority of these rules still apply, except for the bomb one. In 200cc, if someone throws an item at you while you're holding a bomb behind you, no matter what you won't get caught in the explosion because you're going too fast and will have escaped it. Some of these shortcuts might be a little trickier to access in 200 though if you're not a pro.

LoekTheKing in 200c, the last glider ramp to the finish line in dolphin shoals is so satisfying, you can literally glide all the way to the finish line without having to take the two turns. and there are more shortcut routes to take on 200c that you don't even need to be a pro player to do them successfully. also I disagree with the fact that holding a bomb in 200c can not screw you over if some item hits it. thankfully, this only happens when you're making a sharp turn, in straight aways, you're 100% safe of getting blown over

Some other shortcuts, though, are easier. Especially the Mario Circuit and Toad Harbour(?) ones. You also have certain other ones which are only possible in 200cc, but it's not worth going over all of them.
As a really good and avid MK8 player myself, I still learned a lot. I haven't gotten a chance to play Deluxe yet and this video is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!

There's a buck in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe that gives you the chance to lose only one coin when you get hit by any item. You only need a coin as item and use it just in the moment, or a bit earlier, the other item hits you. I don't know why, but then you only lose one coin, and it works in any situation.

The itens tips I discovery by myself while playing, I was here for the hopping and shortcuts and now I'm 100 percent satisfied
0:15 Getting a coin in first, you can hold it until you get another item to force a defensive item like a *nana* or shell
Notice how he said nana instead of banana
I've literally never played this, never looked at it before, had and have no intention of every playing it, but damn it was enjoyable to watch the breakdown on all the crazy strategies at the end.

..These have helped even though i HAVEN'T played mario kart 8 deluxe at all, NOW i know how to use that boost thingy.. no wonder i only had that windy-speed boost when near other racers, and the bomb--defense drop thing works even in wii and double dash, gratitude.
I recently got Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (first Mario Kart game ive played in a LONG time) and I almost exclusively play Waluigi (for the memes with friends and family) and I've been trying to figure out whats the best setup for him. I love your videos and I've already learned a lot!

I main the city tripper and a good tip is using the drift as a side hop as the allowing you to essentially go straight but move to the side not turning you bike that much
8:02 also, if you have a mushroom (its possible to do it solely with MT/SMT/UMTs but its very difficult on 150cc), you can take the higher one of the two paths and boost off the corner to cut the big turn and land on the part below it.

Oh. My. Freaking heck. That was amazing. I just forgot all of it, but I feel so enlightened.
One thing I use: if you're finna pass someone tight, hold and item behind you and run it into them as you overtake them. This works really well with bomb-oms, for some reason they don't hit you. This is also really useful for taking out people mid drift- hold the item behind you and cut in front of their line to leave them in the dust.

“Don’t use your item quickly” but lightening and boos are things that steal items spam the crazy 8 before they take it
Boos can’t steal a crazy 8
Shock just destroys your item and your item cant block it anyway, so youre better off saving it for a block or when its useful up until the shock

Heres a tip: green shells have something called smart bounce that makes them bounce specifically to hit a player

i did the rainbow road shortcut on accident like multiple times on the same race and i was like freaking out! i was like whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!? crazy
In first if a blue shell is coming try to get the Soundwave item. Use it when it's about to dive. If done correctly it destroys the shell

On big blue if you look up the 200cc shortcut that is in the water, you can do this on 150cc bit you only cut of the first not the second,also you have to hold the stick down to get airtime

I ask because I prefer the standard bike, but all the pros use karts mostly.
On one of the tracks, you can use a mushroom and jump in the right way and skip a huge section of the track. I don't remember the track name, but I believe it was without laps.

The only thing I’ve picked up from this is that coins increase your top speed
Pretty sure when you had 10 coins in the original they did too. Also having no coins means you spin if someone knocks into you. So it pays to always collect coins if you can
My family started getting into 8 more than wii recently, time to win more races
You can do the cheese canyon cliff glider shroomless pretty easily and it saves you about 0.5 to a full second
You can do the yoshi falls waterfall slip shroomless but it’s really difficult
And finally you can charge an smt and hop the grass areas on baby circuit

Tricking caps your speed so on maps like sunshine airport by the glider ramp it's better to hop before the ramp to keep your speed on both of them

5:26 Do you need the tryhard combo (heavy character, light cart, small wheels for mini turbo, you know what I mean!) for these or can they be done with most standard combinations?
I have a question, so i know the Blue Shell can be dodged with a shroom but i have Ver 1.4.0 and in 200cc you outrun the Blue Shell and does that affect the timing of dodging it?
In tick tock clock you can do 2 or 3 tricks on the spinning forward gears near the finish line
Guys, if you wanna git gud, just do some Time Trialling. From watching WRs, optimizing builds based on the MK8DX stat wiki page, & practicing soft drifting, your skill will vastly improve without realizing it and you'll be leaving everybody in your dust in online/multiplayer
he'res an extra tip : if an opponent has a crazy 8, attempt to swerve in and steal their star. be careful though : this must have perfect timing or you'll crash into their defensive item.
Okay, my mind was blown on 75% of the shortcuts here.
Tip for helping a friend from blue shell: toss red shell for they can be affected by it, but not the Blue shell.
