  • New project!! We will be building out a 2021 Dodge Promaster 2500 159 inch wheel base van and turning it into a beautiful tiny home on wheels.
    I have built a sailboat, a dinghy, two teardrops and an RV. What better way to combine all builds into one, than to build out a van and enjoy many travels!
    Journey with me as I put my skills to the test and turn an ordinary cargo van into a luxurious dwelling place on wheels!
    We will compliment this van with a full size bed, bench seating for two, running water, full electric, propane cooking appliances, lights throughout, outside shower, and top it off with solar power to run everything. And to add that extra flare… we will do it in BATMAN style!
    I hope to see you until the end when we will do a complete tour of the finished van. I hope you like it!
    Thanks for staying tuned and watching the videos… now, let’s get started

      Weird weather we have had.... in the 100's one week, 65 and 70 the next. I think it was 75 that day and I had to wear a sweat shirt LOL!!

    Your a great craftsman but in doing formica work try doing the edges first, trim and then adhere the face and trim that so it hides the white edge of the white trim

    Looks great Al! The grey and black is very nice. Make sure you keep your son around long enough to help you lift those cabinets in place!

    Great video again Al! I am expecting them every saturday!
    If I may comment, laminating only one side of a panel may cause its warping; for that white glue showing, I use a black Sharpie to hide it.

    • @OregonBatman
      @OregonBatman  Před 3 lety +1

      Thank ya sir... I'll watch those doors for warping, good advice! I did touch up an area with the sharpie... I think it might do the trick. Next cabinet will be towards the front, I'll use something different and use a tip from another comment I received about the edge banding. I'll try and be there on Saturdays! :)

    Its cool to see a person that shares the same interests as me in Oregon as well :). I found your channel watching the travel trailer build series and have been hooked ever since! I live in Oregon City and pass through Madras quite a bit to get to our property in Riley, OR. So its kind of weird seeing the places you travel to I've been to as well! I hope you and your family are doing great and keep up the good work on your project!

    Could put hidden storage on the top inside of the cabinets no one would know they were their.

    3/4 inch plywood doors? Aren't you concerned about the total final weight (and top heaviness) of the BatVan? I really like to watch this new project though. Looking forward to the next episode.

    • @OregonBatman
      @OregonBatman  Před 3 lety

      Hey Ivo! No, no concerns about being top heavy, there will be enough weight on floor to offset anything I might have overhead. And as big as those cabinets are, they are actually pretty light.

    You're supposed to do your edge banding first so your face laminate can cover the edges your edge banding

    Maybe try parchment paper between iron and veneer?

    • @OregonBatman
      @OregonBatman  Před rokem

      Haven't tried parchment paper, but I think that would work. I did use plastic trash bags and it worked very well, kept things from sticking!

    Hi. I was watching your video about the rock guard. Was curious about the rubber "snap on" gasket that went around the guard. Like where you got it and cost?

    Nice work sir i want to do the same thing on my van could you share the dimensions off your ceiling how wide your cut the plywood thanks..

    • @OregonBatman
      @OregonBatman  Před rokem

      Hey mtbbuddys! I used 4 x 8 sheets of 1/4" ply for the ceiling. I can't remember the exact dimensions, as I made the cuts as I was building. All that to say, I don't think any two will be alike. I have 12" pieces on the sides and then made the center pieces the exact dimensions to fill it in. If I had to build another, I am sure they wouldn't be the same dimension. Sorry if that's not too much help... I do thank you for checking it out.
