I've just started to learn video editing at 61 and this is the best clear explanation I seen on anything ''OpenShot'', thanks.
I'm only a few years behind you and you're not wrong!!
I'm 63, and I agree 100 percent! :)
WOW!!!! I was gifted with Adobe Pro, and could not handle it and had decided not to record any videos until I stumbled on this product. EASY!! Thank you so much and thank you for the excellent tutorial videos!
I haven't start using open shot yet but just from the animation tutorial, I am already loving it
Pleeeease make more & more Openshot tutorials. You’re th only person on CZcams who breaks down & explains things in a way Absolute No-Software-Skills Virgin Beginners can understand. 🤘🏽
Excellent! I was looking for just this kind of thing to make an object appear to recede in a rear-view mirror.
Thank you for the software and for the videos. I'm spanish but you speak so clear I can even watch them on 2x.
THANKS SO MUCH SIR JONATHAN,,YOU ARE A GOOD TEACHER TO US REGARDING THIS STUFF.
I love my Open Shot but I'm still learning something new about it every day. THANK YOU for making this so clear! :-D
i personally use open shot on my videos and i love it. its so simple to use. and its free!
You are amazing, totally amazing at making tutorials. Thank you so much for creating this project and making it open source.
Thanks for this video editor. Easy to understand and use as a new content creator really appreciate this.
This is the clearest explanation I've found on OpenShot Tutorial
Thank you so much! I just couldn't figure out how to create my own animations instead of the ones that are already provided, I had no idea that you had to use transform!
Create your own animations - 5:10
Thanks mate, this was just what I was looking for! I've been animating in Window Video Editor (pah!) but never get the effects I was after, so decided to see if OpenShot could do it and here it is, in very easy to follow steps, which is fantastic as I'm a total n00b! Have subscribed so I can check out more tutorials in the future!
A great video for starters like me. Now I know the basics to start creating. Thanks 🙏
Thank you so much!
I tried to download shotcut but I didn't understand but THIS is UNDERSTANDABLE!
I'm blessed knowing that this program exists
Your videos are excellent. They achieve their purpose without a lot of annoying fluff. Liked and subscribed.
Again Jonathan thanks a lot, you're the best teacher for beginners!!!
YES!, Holy S, this is EXACTLY what I was looking for and you nailed it. There's no way I'd be able to figure this out on my own without hours of trail and error so thank you, sir.
I am definitely gonna try this in my next video. Thank you, Mr Thomas.
Thanks. this is one of the most awesome works I have seen till the day. congrats!
oh man love this i dint even know how to combine two clips on open shot but now i know it all
Thank you for such an AMAZING application Jonathan :)
Thanks Jonathan, Your Tutorial on Animation is useful. Easy to understand.
I'm so excited to give Open Shot a whirl. I've made all previous videos on my cell phone, but just purchased a worthy laptop and downloaded Open Shot. I can't wait to learn the software and bring much needed improvements to my videos. Thank you so much for making this available to everyone.
Superb! Thanks for explaining in such an easy way. Please make one more which has detail of all the professional editing. (:
thank you for the video but... im having trouble getting gifs to actually show up as gifs and not just still pictures. if theres anyway to fix this pls let me know
Fantastic resource, using it as I type this ;-) Seamless and well programmed. Thumbs Up!
Great and very well-explained tutorial. Thank you so much, Jonathan. Liked and subscribed
Just started playing with OpenShot while watching tutorials. Even I can do it!
Hey Jonathan, not sure if you ever get to answering questions, but if you do, I'm curious if there is a way to make parts of a video clip transparent in OpenShot. The batman mask was an image with everything but the mask transparent. You mentioned you could use videos with transparent places as well.
I'm wondering specifically because I want to experiment with using a green screen to take animations in the foreground and put them on top of animations in the back ground.
thanks jonathan for this video edito, it is really is easy to use. Is it possible to use layout (let's say: 1/4 size top left) AND in this lay out the function of 'zoom' ?
Awesome turorial!!
Hi, just wondering about you putting the cursor at the beginning of the image and you struggled a bit. So, is there a way to snap to edge of clip in the timeline??
Amazing! You explain very well. Thank you Jonathan.
The way you explain so easy that I'm not English but understand all ...thanks
Great stuff ! Perfect pace as well! Muchas Gracias !
thank for the tutorial! this will help me with making tweening animations ^^
Thank you for sharing your expertise! Is it possibile with OpenShot do create circle video to play along another video? For instance suppose to see in a smaller circle the video of a violin player, while on the screen another video of nature or landscapes goes on? Thank you very much for your attention.
Thanks I just wanted to know if you could tween, very helpful.
i edit my videos using open shot i will use these animations to add my social media, thanks for the great software
Thank you so much I've been so confused and this helped alot ^^
thx alot Jonathan i really need to improve my videos and this helped alot!
So happy to have you beside me to learn about video editor. A question maybe on this particular nbr 3 tutorial. How did you get the transparency of the mark picture. Is this by using a king of Photoshop picture with transparency applied ? Thanks
Your work is appreciated, dear sir!
It's really very helpful Mr. Jonathan.
This is looks so simple and easy I love it! I just wonder can you animate text?
Thank you very much Jonathan. I really needed this video. Greetings from Germany :)
Hey man, firstly thank you for the tutorials.
Secondly, could you maybe help me understand why my preview doesn’t work like yours? My video plays in a slow pixelated sort of way and I don’t seem to hear my audio on the preview. What can I do to solve this?
Great stuff!
Super helpful! Thank you :)
wow he is the maker of this software. thank you sir ,you are awesome.
Super helpful!
thank you so much, this was really good !
Thanks! I noticed that besides doing fade in/fade out, I can also click on any point in a clip and change the alpha setting, and it will then gradually change to that alpha setting from whatever it was before (much the same concept as your advanced batman mask animation). One of those little "green brackets" shows up when I do that. My question is, is there an easy way to work with those green brackets? For example, can I delete one of them, or make one of them shorter or longer, or easily change the value at the end of one of them? I tried zooming in and clicking on them, but it doesn't seem that they can be clicked on.
Those Green Brackets are keyframes. You can delete them from 'properties', but you'll have to be in the exact frame where a keyframe has been set. You can use the arrowed keys to navigate frame-by-frame. This video might be of some help too: czcams.com/video/mgi4esWA84M/video.html
P.S: Feature requests have been made for clickable, deletable, dragable keyframes. But since Mr. Thomas is doing this solo for the most part, it seems it might be a while before the feature is implemented.
Thank you very much, you save my day!
Thanks! I needed this.
Thank you so much, Jonathan, you know this is the first tutorial of any that I was actually able to comprehend :)) You are such a "Tiger" !!
Thnak you so much i needed this!
Cool stuff. Thx
Brilliant video. Thanks
super helpful!!
Thank you so much !
GREAT JOB REALLY !
Thank you for all this Jonathan
Great video!
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but I add markers and use the zoom feature on the markers but I just end up with a zoom at the start of the clip, instead of where the markers start and ends.
Does anyone have any tips?
Sir you are great man
Salute your skill
Thank you
U earned a sub
Nice man... nice...My copy doesnt have animate not sure why not... its the mac version and right click doesnt show anything like animate cant figure it out.. Thanks for the video. I drop the clips and then on the bottom as its playing i click on the video in the track and nothing. I right click and it says cut, copy, remove, lift, split at playhead, detach audio, update thumbnails, rebuild audio waveforms, properties.. that's all.
anyway to turn a video into image sequence. i am told there is a right click option and i dont have it for some reason
So, the transparent Batman mask automatically went in as a foreground image/on top of the previous image because it was added to a higher track number or because it was added AFTER the others?
higher track #

Keep making videos about animation for openshot!! :), I just want to make a simple sliding animation. This helps a lot!
The4 Best ever, kindly explain how to write text and other effects , there may be on your channel, Best one
Hi
Jonathan Thomas! great tutorial all your tutorialas are great ! thanks a lot,,, I am comming from moviemaker (win) and this Your OpenShot is the best,,,,I use it to make videos from a collection of pictures with music as background,,,so easy,,, I can't find, however, how to make images duration same as music track WITHOUT cutting the music, just adjusting the total time automatically,,, Moviemaker had a button for that, so with a click you had an automatinc synch duration of compelte sequence of pictures with the entire music clip,, so nice,, so easy,, Is there a function for this in Openshot? I am not finding it,,, if not, would be a very nice feature to incorporate. Thank you again, ,I enjoy a lot your creation. Sorry for my English, cheers from Buenos Aires, Argentina
Wow, I can't believe I've ised this app wrong for so many weeks, thanks !
@Dom Benini -- I'm brand-spanking new to all of this, and I'm a geek, so my curiosity kicked in there and now you have me wondering: how had you been using it so far? (I figure that it might be of use to know more than one way of going about things.)
@@charlesrockafellor4200 I am not geeky at all and i didn't watch tutorials before starting to make videos. I put 2 tracks and stacked videos and images and transitions and everything into one, then audio on another. So it was really messy and hard to edit. I was creating everything I needed in power point then screen recorded then put it on the open shot editor. I did everything wrong smh
Can I set presets for the entire project (specifically for location and scale of text in a title clip) instead of each individual clip?
interesting :) can you reposition your keyframes as you can do in adobe premiere (> and that way speeding up or slowing down your animation)
Yes, this is an absolutely necessary feature.
Hi Jonathan, Great work! I love openshot. But tell me, does it not work with gifs? I had a few dancing bears but when I put them into the clip and previewed them they were only still pictures?
1:17 : "this foreground object has transparency"... It's actually a more advanced action that is required in order to create a transparent background, by using chroma key to delete selected colors... I'm not sure why that part is skipped, because beginners probably can't follow from this point on without having a foreground image first.
good point, i couldn't understand that bit.
THANK YOU!!
hello
kindly
let's say I want to take a PNG of a circular image
then I take another JPG as background
and with just these two images I want to generate a video animation of the circular image spinning in a fixed position on top of the background image also it would be nice to be able to set the speed.
Is this possible in openshot?
Also added bonus question :-) how do I export an high quality audio? I mean. I have used a really good MP£ audio file and exported it, but then in the video it doesn't sound as good as the original
Thank you for any hint and TIP!
Hey i know this is a old video, but is there a way to make a certain picture stick to somethinh while it is moving.
how do you animate from current position you've moved the video to on the screen to the edge? it keeps dragging my videos to the center of the screen before it does that
5.52 how you zoom video screen area would like to learn that for education video tutorials
Wonderful!
Informative video. Thank you.
5:25 I didn't know how Transform works until now after editing hundreds videos (with a little bit of exaggeration).
If you have a weird sound or a glass crash, and need the pic to blurp or a pic crash to wiev the next pic behind?,,, or have a sound of a baam, and need the pic to shake, where a glitch pic is behind?
good tutorial man
Appreciate it!
Thanks ... very helpful :-)
Thanks - you are engaging
good job but not enough. How can transform video with cartoon effect ? thanks in advance.
