  • LAURENS TEN DAM'S AMERICAN ROADTRIP 2022 EPISODE 3
He’s back! In collaboration with Shimano GRX, Laurens returned to the USA. A quick one this time: in and out in two days. Time enough for some SERIOUS racing though! Getting crushed in the Tushar Mountains. Time for Crusher in the Tushar
The third event of the Life Time Grand Prix; a series of 6 MTB and gravel events in the US, with a combined classification and a grand prize of 250.000 dollars. It includes races on gravel for 300 kilometers, but also short and fast MTB events of 100 k.

    rule #1 ...
if a 4 legged buddy approaches you, 2:04
you most acknowledge it with at least one pat but preferable a handful somewhere on the buddy, ideally to top of head or top of rump or both simultaneously. said 4 legged good boi will walk away satisfied and a loyal for life.

mooie impressie, ik heb gemist dat je van Diverge naar Crux bent overgestapt, is dat per dit gravelseizoen?

Digging the jersey you're wearing during the race, see its not on your webshop (yet). Any idea how simple mortals like us can get their hands on it?

I really like LtD as a person and as a sportsman, but flying from Europe to the west of the U.S.A. (8000+ km one way) and back for a trip of three days to ride a race, seems a bit out of touch with the reality of the climate crisis. Traveling is valuable and should not be demonized per se, but 3 days, 1 race... It feels like the the impact to environment and the fact of our warming planet is not thought about at all. Was it a consideration @LiveSlowRideFast?

      1. The flight is planned anyway with our without Laurens..... 2. During the race Laurens burns calories, not fossil fuel.... compare that to the Formula 1 circus...... Love the video's Laurens makes, they keep me at home instead of burning diesel in my car...grtz from Flanders...👊🏻🍻🚵🏻

      1. With that logic it wouldn't matter if people buy plane tickets at all, since planes will fly either way, also when nobody ever buys a ticket. Which of course is not true. If less people fly, less planes will do too. Of course this effect is not direct, but you definitely can say that less flying is less emission.
      2. I don't compare LtD with anyone. You can compare his trip with the F1 circus, like you can compare the trip to the average amount of flying of the 50% poorest people of this world, who never fly. Both have no added value to this topic.
It is perfect that you love the videos of LtD. I do too! I don't question that. What I do question if it is fitting to our current reality of the climate crisis to fly from France to the USA for three days to compete in one cycling race not as a prof cyclist, but as a content creator. LtD is an example, inspires others. The choices of the richest 10%, and especially the richest 1%, determine the faith for the poorest 50%. They live already in an increasingly inhabitable place. I don't say: don't fly anymore, since there are very good reasons to fly. But at the same time, we can only emit so much CO2 before the budget runs out. The choices of people make a difference. Especially of people as LtD, who inspire people to get people on bikes instead of in cars! Therefore I asked, was it a consideration... :)
