This is the first time I've watched anyone paint with such control and precision. Really fascinating!
OCD at its finest lol
@@HotRodJenPinstriping good show, if this means you have it!!, I have Autism, and because of my coordination difficulties, I would spray, as the fine mist would, to my way of logic, give a more consistent result, and a finer coating of paint, Plus my mechanical 'nouse' would mean I could troubleshoot the sprayers, and disassemble them to clean, as I could remember where all the parts go!
@@HotRodJenPinstriping My dad was a hand sign painter all his life. He used a ponce wheel on handle after having hand drawn the lettering on paper with a pencil. Real talent.
He did get a plotter and started cutting vinyl in his 60s when that became popular.
He used an archery arrow with a rubber ball he stuck on top to steady his hand, other end on the floor for truck doors..
Personal preference but i would have filled the lightening bolts with yellow or darker silver.
Brightened the whole design.
You're really talented as well.
@@jtjones4081 The arrow and stick your dad used is call a mahl stick.
Hey yo come to India and check out our Indian supertalented artists, much better than her I'm damn sure
This woman’s regimen is a unique combination of expert typography and mad-skills multimedia art. Her work is a thing of beauty and her teaching is a way of paying her gift forward.
It's a dieing art, getting a car hand lettered and striped is way more expensive but looks way better than a wrap
Nice work Jen! I just turned 75, I lettered my first truck at age 16. I got out of the business before the vinyl cutters came in. I moved into 3D, Industrial Design, Trade Show Exhibits, ect. I'm a lefty too. Nice to see young folks like you carrying on the profession.
Throughout my long life I have noticed lefties have many talents that right handers seem to have missed.
@@nickviner1225 there is certainly a difference it's dominant side of brain, not abnormal for left handed people to be more artistic, than right.
@@nickviner1225let me know when those talents are meant to manifest
I enjoyed having an opportunity to watch you create your artwork. I'm not a pinstriper but like watching them work at car shows. Your commentary added a lot to the video. It's nice to see that there are true artists doing your kind of work rather than merely sitting behind a computer designing a wrap.
Thanks for keeping this form of art alive and sharing it with us all. Amazing job!
Brings back old memories,I used to pinstripe back in the late 50's,early 60's, I was busy, had fun but never achieved the awesome level of your work.
You make it look so easy and I know better.
Thanks for sharing, keep up the beautiful work, your talent is amazing .
Nice to hear from someone who wasn't "the best ever", like "eveybody" old seems to be, when talking about the good ol' days.. :)
My stepdad was a sign painter and founding member of the Letterheads. I watched the vinyl sign technology destroy the hand painting industry over the 80’s. Thanks for keeping the traditional skills alive.
As my hand sign painter dad said about vinyl "any idiot can go buy a plotter, cut vinyl, and call themselves a commercial artist but their sense of design sucks." He was right.
Some signs I see these days hurt my head, really, I have to look away, after having seen my dad's handwork all my life growing up.
Even after he bought a plotter after 50 years hand painting his product was always "pleasing to the eye" s s he put it. I could recognize his work on a van that would drive by even if I hadn't seen him letter it.
He's long dead now and I'm old too. So good to see art still alive.
@@jtjones4081 Yep. It's a tenant in any sign or brochure no more than 2 fonts and points. Give a monkey a laptop and a plotter nowadays, and they'll make every line different, because they can.
Same. Remember getting shocked by the pounce machine and remember dad getting his first Gerber plotter.
@@jtjones4081 The journeymen in our shop called them “perfect ugly signs.” The instant lettering shops have proven that out.
Back around 1980 did electrical work in a long building where talented guys would paint 80' long billboard panels. Owner was the biggest cheapest scum bag. In winter only kept the building heated to 40 degrees so paint would not freeze. Summer only had 1 small fan on the floor. Guy had expensive cars, large house, summer house down the shore and a winter cabin but told us he was struggling. Yep struggling to make his next millon.
Very cool. Years ago I watched a guy painting gold leaf on a new fire truck. You wouldn't think it could be so captivating but I spent 2 days watching it and never seemed to lose interest. Your work is gorgeous. Thanks for sharing.
We used to party and watch a friend airbrush and pin stripe in Hawaii. Larry didn`t falter even after some Mai Wowy and Heinekins. He had practiced by pinstriping every 2x4 in his garage.
I used to paint store fronts back in early 70s....then a few years later the computer aided vinyl cutters killed this art
Form
Nice. Old school. Sliver leaf. An art form.
My father did this to fire trucks back in the late 40's early 50's. He worked for Seagraves Fire Truck Co. Everything was done by hand, they didn't have decals back then. He would bring the doors home with him and I would watch.
Also the gold and silver leaf was real. I was 7yrs old when passed away in 1952. The fire trucks he decorated were beautiful.
Keeping the spirit of Von Dutch and "Big Daddy" Roth alive!!! Fabulous skills to watch.
Nice simplistic lettering job, looked killer!!
I could sit and watch you paint for hours. So much hand control and detail. Your narration makes it even better pointing out the details I missed. The spark plug detail……..
Awesome artwork ,nice sharing ma'am🎨🖌👍
Jen is fantastic, so go0od to see a lady doing the work so nice. I still have a good collection of Mack brushes and Von Dutch ink drawing sent to me from him when I was 17.
Boy! I can only imagine how perfect your coloring books were as a kid!!
GD lefties. They have an unfair advantage for some reason. The smartest, most talented people I've ever met are lefties. So rewarding to see craftsmen who are so talented like this, and have practiced their trade to the point it looks effortless. Bravo.
The fact that you can burnish leaf has blown my mind.
Oostzaan Holland
You should be proud, no brainless computer graphics. Just pure artistic talent.
I love watching you paint very precise and great tunes.
What a super talented young lady. She just shows her love of what she's GOOD at. Go Kick Ass Girl. Thank you for sharing.
Girl, you have "old school talent.
Lovely to see again! I was a writer many years ago, doing mostly coal/haulage lorries and gold leaf on windows in Scotland, You reminded me of myself - i.e. I never used a mohl stick, always used my free hand for balance.
UK - Most impressive young lady, your free hand control is amazing. I really enjoyed watching this video. Over 70 years ago I left school and worked as an apprentice decorator for a large brewery company, all the heavy lorries - vans - horse drawn carts (drays) were fully hand painted in a dark maroon, gold leaf lettering with a black shadow. good memories.
Wow, what a " Cool Bird" that you are! Thanks for "Lifting my Spirit"!! Dean( Soul) Toronto
it's nice to see a lefty working with brushes. I'm a left-handed myself, It's hard to find left-handed artist. really appreciate it
You are not from this world. Amazing my only word.
From an old rod builder.....76 yrs. old....Kudos!! Great talent! Almost a lost art......
I'm only just getting into sign painting and pinstriping. I love how methodical you are - picking up some very useful tips already.
Never seen this done before. Amazing skills and another level of patience you have. Thanks for sharing
I usually don't watch other artist videos. But when I do.. Hoooooooooly shit! AWESOME job! Especially the spinning. It really has a snappy poppy shine to it!
That leaf work is incredible
Interesting to peek behind the curtains of an artist.
Awesome craftsmanship by a true artist, absolutely beautiful work that is so wonderful to watch,,,,,,an inspiration
I watched a guy do some striping at a swap meet one day but he wasn't a patch to this lady. I am in absolute awe and amazement...
nice job Jen. I had silver leaf on my last race car and loved it.. Your hand lettering is so much nicer than the vinyl that everyone uses today keep doin' what you do because quality never goes out of style.
Vinyl is like owning a 5 cent bic ball point pen compared to a Parker fountain pen.
I'm getting ready to buy my first set of Brushes & paint for Pinstriping.
The way you turn corners is super Elegant.
Outstanding video. Many great tips and techniques shared.
Pin stripers and people that do hand lettering just blow me away with their incredible hand control and eye for detail watched a guy years ago letter a tow truck free hand using just a pin stripe brush and an old phone book to blot his brush to get the excess paint off his brush came out great when done
Thanks for Sharing Tips and Skills. I found it fascinating; love your art and craftswomenship.
It's always fun to watch a master at her work, Jen! :)
Beautiful job! Keeping it alive.
The electricity coming out of the plug really set it off as that special touch
Unreal ,so Beautiful!! Was giving me anxiety watching, I think I gritted my teeth the full video!
That was absolutely amazing!!
I can’t even imagine doing that. You’re a helluva an artist, Jen.
thank you!
Jen, That was fun to watch. It was fun to watch this girl pinstripe a welding truck for me many years ago too.
I love to watch people using their talent.
Take care, O'dan
I am always impressed by the natural perception and acquired skill of sign painters. Beautiful work done by this young lady. Pleasurable experience watching her work in a methodical confident way.
Thanks for all the great content you've been giving us lately, very instructive and inspiring. Appreciate the brush info too.
talented, doing lettering, doing it on trucks!!! beautiful... damn I'm in love
love the narrative on what your doing and how it's prep for the next step.
One really takes for granted how skilled and patient you have to be to do this kind of work. No Photoshop for this kind of thing! 😂 Looks amazing and fun to watch. 😎
I was a self taught calligrapher and a novice sign painter but never followed through! Beautiful work
Lefty!...You freak of nature!😀 Nice work.
U are the awesome at that this something that you learn from a og keep up the good work Timmy c from CT God bless you and your family!!!
Wow....at least we've got one thing in common.....we're both left-handed!
Hand lettering is an incredible art....Old school‼️ You are Awesome 🤯💯👍✌️

just came land on this channel,I'm so glad that some youngster is keeping the pinstriping art.
Wow, you're a true artist and craftsman. I envy people like you who can draw/paint freehand since I can't draw for beans.
Pinstriping to your favourite music, good idea. I laid some basic lines on my stock Model A and have often considered getting into professional pinstriping. But as a singer/songwriter, graphic artist, collector, I have other interests as well. Jen could inspire me to get back into it, though. But I don't think you'll ever see me with purple hair and tattoos up the yahoo.
I love you work/art. It's not easy for just anyone to do that. I tried signwriting once. It takes patience and a steady hand, none of which I had at the time. Maybe I'll give it another try, now that I'm older and slower.
Amazing work. Thank you for sharing and for all the knowledge you shared as well ❤
Bless First time viewer & enjoyed every stroke. Thanks 😊
l have no idea what you are talking about but you are extremely professional at what you do.
Green with envy of your talent. My older brother was a sign painter. My older sister was a calligrapher, I got none of the talent genes.
Absolutely beautiful, very talented young lady.
As an amateur lefty, it never occurred to me to go from right to left. Great Job!
You got a gift girl. Very impressed.
I like your style young lady ! Very nice work. I'll be back to watch some more. Thanks for the video !
Pretty Lady ,I admire her for telling her secrets .Strong vibrant personality !
Jen, you are an inspiration, super talented Lady! Love your work and commentary.
Sandman's Pinstriping
I still remember the first time I burned paper got hit several times that day great job on them doors
I love watching talented people do what they do and YOU are very talented! 👍🏼👍🏼
Incredibly talented young lady
Amazing work
Hi Jen, to say this was a fabulous video would be the understatement of the millennium. Great to see you in this video with the pinkie method to inspire us all.
Thanks Joe
@@HotRodJenPinstriping Jen, all is well here in frozen MN. Getting snow today. A good excuse for hot chocolate. Hope you are safe, warm, and well. I was not understating in my last message to you. You are the best, clearest teacher ever.
Anybody can lay a decal, AWESOME WORK!
Don Yates has just said it all! That control of yours is really something
Fantastic combination of talent and experience.Loved this video. Kind of mesmerizing really.
Wow just wow! All leftie and no support stick. Such art.
Incredible to watch, very precise!
Jen is so good she can produce great artwork left-handed! 🙂
LOVE YOUR WORK JENN!!!
Just found this channel through Instagram. So much talent. Great to see old school work like this.. My only critique is not enough closeups and way too much commentary. I have to watch with it muted.
As a fellow lefthander, I am in awe of your work here!
Well I wanted to learn metal foil leaf and got way more then expected. I loved this video was explained very well and the music was spot on for the project.
I restore old garden tractors some farm tractors. Some I do custom work on and I also plant them I've always wanted to learn how to do gold leaf. I have a customer that wants green leaf for his John Deere pulling tractor. In flames and lightening. Hopefully it comes out great. You definitely got a new subscriber for life. Thanks for the video.Den's custom tractors.
AMAZING WORK!!!!!
Very impressive work!
Brilliant job, well done x
Fantastic! This is a great lesson Jen! Thank you!
My god, that brush control. I learned so much, thank you for both your skill and your transparency about the craft.
So good, looks fantastic.
I just realized you're a lefty, I am also a lefty striper. I've always wanted to try turning leaf, but never had a project that it would work on.
I've been hand lettering since 1985 and have probably have used my quills most everyday since then. Viny
Looks amazing 👏 good job
You do beautiful work and everything match very well you are sure a professional and I will be watching your videos thank you God bless
Always been a primer and paint. Never really paid attention to pinstripping other than sticker. I was very impressed what skills it takes to do this kind of work. Labor intensive, mindful of your surroundings. Impressive. I look forward to seeing more of your work. Well done.
thank you!
