BMW M3 Competition Review - Is this the best M3 ever?

- It is always a special occasion when there's a new BMW M3 and we just had to get behind the wheel. Watch Ciro de Siena get to grips with the latest G80 BMW M3 Competition.
Is there a more iconic letter in the car alphabet? M from BMW represents a special breed of performance vehicle and when a new one is launched, people get excited.
This new BMW M3 features a 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-6 engine with 375 kW and 650 Nm, and power goes to the rear wheels via an 8-speed gearbox. An all-wheel-drive model will follow later in 2021.
Is this new BMW M3 Competition good enough? We put Ciro De Siena behind the wheel on the safety of an airfield to see if's worthy of the M badge.

To be honest, it makes me sad because cars like this will be extinct in 10-20 years and we must appreciate now because everything will be electric soon. I think the latest G80 M3 could be the last old school car with no electrification. Who knows what the next would M3 be like?
Nothing wrong with hybrids.
In fact, the future hybrid versions will be better in every single way possible excluding only engine sound.

Everybody talk about the grill. I'm one of the few who liked it ever before seeing it on the road. Now that I've seen it a few times in person, I love it even more. Its a BEAST!!

Perhaps we love these sorts of cars, because daily we are stuck in traffic at 40km/h, potholes galore in Jhb, stuck at a WFH desk, or maybe just because they are aspirational and maybe one day you can afford a 10 year old model when the new electric M3 makes a million kilowatts and costs 10 times the price of your house

Hey Ciro. Any idea if the “S.A antiwagonism”stance will deter Bmw from bringing the M3 touring to our shores?
You might be mistaken about the fact, that gt4 is faster around a track. Autocar tested both cars on a track in Wales, and M was faster. It would be a great idea to test them both on Killarney (on the same tires, as was tested in Wales)
What about the iOS app? It's really frustrating.
M3 Comp xdrive is a better buy because if one need a pure rwd u can just switch to it and if weather changes to wet conditions then again u switch to awd Sport +
How much does that interior cost as a optional extra ? Those bucket seats look the bomb !!

I have always been a fan of BMW M3 and the 3 series, I'm still struggling to get used to the grill on these new models 😂😂😂. But BMW never dissapoints in terms of performance.

Aesthetically,it looks better than the M4(my view).That straight six engine sounds like music to my ears.Should cost over R2 Million I guess.Will the future electric cars emit the such sound???

Nope, expect a lot of fake sound in the upcoming electric cars like i4, etc. Tesla has done this with the Model S P100d by playing a fake Mustang V8 sound in it.

Hi there, it's Ciro here, I'd like to explain how we get car reviews on to the channel. Firstly I'd like to thank you for your support, we couldn't have grown this channel without you. As with all media outlets in South Africa, we are at the mercy of the manufacturers in terms of test car availability. The manufacturers themselves are at the mercy of shipping delays and production delays in Europe etc, and usually a new car will launch 3-6 months ahead of SA over in Europe. That's why the British and European car CZcams channels are so far ahead of us. Another issue down here in SA is sometimes car dealers will get new models before they are launched to the media, and so people start seeing them on the roads way before we even get a chance to film one. We can't source cars for filming from dealers as they do not have the insurance we need, and so we have to wait for the manufacturers to make media cars available. Cars.co.za is now the very first publication to get every test car that comes out, however sometimes this doesn't even help because a manufacturer might only have 1 test unit, which they will keep in Gauteng for a few months before they send it to Cape Town (this happened with the new BMW M5, for instance.) The video team at Cars.co.za films the test cars as soon as humanly possible. The edit process then takes 5-10 working days depending on the complexity. In summary, what I'd like our audience to know is we push really hard to get videos out on cars in a timely manner, but we have to work within a system that we have no control over. That's subjective. Personally I think the best M3 ever is the E46 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️

But, I'd give you that the E46 is best, I would, the only problem is the engine, and I guess for the E46, that straight 6 was good. I know the CSL is craaazzyyyy. But nothing tops a V8. The E92 is like a special edition. The only M3 with a V8, and a six speed gearbox alongside the E46. So I'd say between the E46 and E92. But you can't come up and be like a G80 is the best. Naah fam.
