On top of that, if you think that they aren't commenting enough on the music, it's because nothing is happening IN the music to comment on. It may be "a great song" that they're listening to, but that does not mean there are actual complicated musical things happening that they'd be able to talk about.

I appreciate that Henry didn't care for the song. Like I personally love it, but it's the willingness to be honest about how they feel that makes this group of reactors so special. I know that if they don't like the song they will say so, which in turn makes their praise that much more genuine

they're not harsh to the artists themselves, maybe the content of the song, or the production, but i don't recall they being harsh on the artists.
That's why this is the only react channel that I watch religiously.
gunther stewart I don’t ever recall them being harsh to the kpop idols. They just criticise the songs and the production.
I remember one person was kind of snobby but otherwise most of them are pretty intellectual and critical with some of them just enjoying the music

Edit: I agree, musically they didn't do something great like with decalcomaine and piano man, but I also think this song was more about the message, and the song was just supposed to "catchy". I think they went for what is more popular in the market these days? Yeah I really believe that. Which is a good thing, because if the music caters to the market, people will listen to this message more.
I think this song is still important because it's sending the message to love yourself in the best way possible. It doesn't matter if you like makeup, no makeup, clothes blah blah, you're beautiful the way you are. And I think that's really really important.
Weirdly, it's still one of my favourites , even if the music style isn't my preference. I still hope we get more songs like piano man and aah oop though xD

IKR I literally have the same opinion as yours like I like the message they are sending with the song and I love it that they are trying new things musically and concept wise, but for me when I first heard the song I was a bit disappointed. Obviously I do not hate or dislike the song or anything, it's just that when I first watched the teasers the bridge part was the one that was in the teasers so I was really excited for them move into a more minimalistic electronic sound. Although it did take me some time to adapt to this concept, I think it took some time for them to adapt to it too.
It was still worth it. I still play this song religiously because it gives me SO MUCH CONFIDENCE.

I'm fine with Yes I Am not being the most difficult song. When the girls have schedule after schedule, with singing about 4 songs live each time, a less strenuous song is good. What really saves the song tho is their live performances, the way they perform gives so much life to the song and u bet I'ma be bopping away to it. It's not my fave Mamamoo song but I still like it, the message is great and it's fun. Mamamoo keep exploring different kinds of genres and I'm all for it, and it's great how they aren't being limited to just one particular style or concept.
+Jayel Same for me, it's not as difficult of a song as Decalcomanie (I think their most difficult title song) but they manage to make it fun. Despite MAMAMOO doing different genres, they are still able to put their own sound and color to it. Plus this song is one of my favorite concepts because of the message they're promoting and no guys involved. I love that they are still able to put adlibs on their songs for live performances.

I think if anything, maybe react to their live performances of it cause they add stuff vocally to make a bit better like more harmonies in there, idk maybe its just me. I agree however that the message of the song was probably more important than the actual song itself

As a kpop fan who does not stan Mamamoo, all I can say about them is that they are much better when they are singing live. All their adlibs and their enjoyment when performing really hooks a lot of people. That's why in Queendom (a competition show between girl groups) they are mostly at the top in terms of fan choices.

yeah, this song is really not that complex or different musically but it defines mamamoo perfectly. they were always the risk-takers of kpop, doing their own thing and not letting the norms and standards restrict them. and all in different ways too. all of the members have wildly different styles and voices that somehow just come together so beautifully.
that runway scene at the end of the MV really showcases each of their individual fashion styles - solar with a playfully sexy dress, hwasa in a bodytight jumpsuit showing off her curves, wheein with a more glamorous chic dress, and of course, moonbyul in a very regal androgynous-style pantsuit.
