I don't understand why they can't just make the story like it is in King's short story. Expanded a bit of course. They have yet to do that and it makes me so frustrated.
With the exception of Frank Darabont films, pretty much all of SK adapted films suck the big one. Nobody can make a movie like SK writes.

That’s pretty much what the tv remake is. The expansions are pretty bad but ya it’s all there.
Yes I actually really like the short story but I guess the concept of (to oversimplify) evil children is too much for people. Every single version that I've seen(I've not seen them all) has the children being influenced by a monster, or a demon, or something that is an evil influence on the children. Because you know, no way they could come up with killing the adults on there own. I just want someone to make the children the ones that come up with the idea on their own

@spookyastronauts, it's still technically religious because there's still a cult. I didn't think the film was horrible, like some people made it out to be. I kind of liked it a little more than the original in the sense that I thought the plot was kind of far-fetched in the original. However of course it's still no masterpiece.

Pity, but not surprised. Evil kids in horror is one of my fav things to watch.
A lot of this movie was filmed near me in Windsor, Sydney NSW. I remember seeing them filming some scenes probably about a year and a half ago.
Shame to hear it didn’t turn out very good but I might watch it anyway when it’s on digital just to see if there’s any places I recognise 😂

Poor Emma she had to endure so much pain watching the 11 movies😂 I've only watched the 1st and didn't find it that great but enjoy it from time to time. Haven't seen the rest, planned to back then and thank god I didn't. Shame these movies never ended being that good. Thank you Emma for your reviews.

they could have done something really off the wall like make the film about growing kids by planting them in a cornfield.
The sad thing for me is that the Children of the Corn concept has so much potential for an effective film. And always has. The cult religious themes, the imagery, the ancient God that they worship. We should have a great folk horror masterpiece by now. I wish they would just give it to Mike Flanagan or something. Somebody who would actually care about making it good.

I kinda get why the kids wanna save the corn because it seems they all know about the monster and they wanna protect it. It’s the main character’s motive that throws me off, like why would she care about the corn? She’s tryna act like she cares about the town, but it seems the town would be better off without the diseased corn with how many problems it’s causing.

I just watched it here in El Paso, Tx. I loved the original and some of the sequels. This film was a bore. Gr8 review as usual. 🎥🍿🌭🌺
The idea is completely counter-intuitive to what made the original novel scary. What happened between the disappearance of the adults and the establishment of the corn cult was left to the reader's imagination, that's what made the kids in the original novel so creepy. This is like making a remake of Pulp Fiction where the origin of the briefcase is explained in detail.
"I'm not gonna call it children of the corn, I'm gonna call it KORN!" Speaking of Corn, I like KORN albums. lol
I can't believe there are now 11 Children of the Corn movies and not in a single one of them do they ever pit em against the Village of the Damned. What fools. FOOLS.

I might have seen all of the CoTC movies so far, I'm really not sure. I'll watch this one too of course. No hopes for a great one. Great hopes for it not being the worst.
If my parents decided to no longer make corn, I would masacred them as well. This is of course a secular decision, as The Corn rationaly explained that killing our insane parents is a more profitable course of events, due to long term enviromental issues. As a rational 7 year old, this metaphor of murdering the old boomer ways is more fun than Fortnite.
I've only ever seen the original Children of the Corn and this remake. I have grown up watching the original and still very much enjoy it. This remake was different enough for me to find some things to appreciate in it. While, it starts kind of lame, I felt it gradually became more entertaining as it went along and finished strong enough. Little girl was the best part. 5.5/10 for me.
P.S. I found your recap/ranking of the series to be thorough and fun, even though I had not seen almost all of them. Made me curious to check out a few of them. Only a few...

Was Disicples of the Crow the best one? There is a Spanish movie from the 1970s with a similar.plot called "Who Could Kill a Child" that predates all of them. Even King's story.

I feel like this remake would have been alot more intriguing if they went the route that Eden was just some little crazy girl that was convinced her Imaginary friend was real and convinced the other kids to kill the parents insted of well...Corn Demon 😂🌽
Also can I say the main character is kind of directly the cause of everyone dying.

I saw the Cinema Snob quick review of this yesterday and other than liking the main villain, he touted this as worse than the Firestarter remake. Your assessment appears to be similar.
Happy to skip this one, then. I remember it was made in 2020 but shelving it for almost 3 years and with that thin a plot, that's enough to convince me to go without.

Saw this in theaters with my friend. I leaned over to them during it and said, "we're not talking about corn, are we?" This is a really bad movie but in a funny way so I still enjoyed this one.

It's about a 16yr old girl that's a vet and a vegetarian, the shit that happens in it is disturbing and pretty wild. It came out in 2016. It's pretty fucking crazy.
