Also something to note around Mighty Car Mods: we are normal guys and are not trained mechanics. We like to make interesting car mods and show you how we've gone about it, but we can't promise that anything we show you will work for your particular car, or that you won't harm yourself, someone else, your car or your warranty doing it. Please be safe, be responsible and unless you know what you're doing, do not fool around with very serious machinery just because you've seen us make it look so easy. Talk to a qualified mechanic if you are in any doubt.

Excellent video. After watching this i now have the confidence to take my car to a professional installer knowing that is the best thing to do.
Sadik Meah funny Bengali
100% agree Sadik
was employed as a window tinter for 8 years and have to say this vid is a great place to start to learn how to do it yourself, obviously practice makes perfect but the boys have given you all the info needed to have a crack at it!
Squeezing that air out is very satisfying to watch
I used to own an auto glass business. Let me tell you, you guys nailed it. Every important step for a DIY'er to do this at home. Love your videos. Keep um coming. And a tip for anyone wanting to buy good tint, ask a local shop what they use and see if you can buy what you need off um. Or buy 3m, that's all I used, but I was 3m factory trained so that's why I used um. And I liked their products. Cheers
I would watch you more than Top Gear if you guys got on television...
same
we all might be watching this instead of Top Gear after what's happened.
Oh no, what's happened?
cameron blaze Clarkson punched one of the producers over food at a filming. He's suspended and there are rumors going around that they might cancel the show all together. But BBC would be shooting themselves in the foot if they ever canceled that show. Bring Back Clarkson
Jack Dawson wtf I hope that's on camera
I was skeptical, but it looks like this turned out very good.
Good on ya boys for juggling work, music, mighty mods and everything else! Enjoying every minute of it on the receiving end, thank you!
Wow that tint looked amazing, I honestly wasnt expecting the final product to look that good!
Can MCM make a DIY video on how to wrap your roof with vinyl? Would be much appreciated!
I second that
I second that
They've made a vinyl video, the same rules still apply to the roof.
looks like you thirded it too
4th it :-) maaaaaaaaaaaaddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd igoing to do my 93 RS turbo:- )
I'm getting my 02 Dodge Durango done for 175 and a lifetime warranty but this was cool to watch :)
i have an 01 durango how did it end up looking?
I called my local place for my 98 outback and they quoted me 375 I wish I i got your price
These videos are awesome guys! We hope to have our DIY home tinting videos be as successful as you guys! Keep up the amazing work!
This was the very first Mighty Car mods video I ever saw and I am so happy that I came across this video and this great channel
I'm bad at placing stickers... I think I'll go to a professional
roberij05 if you are incompetent at DIY projects then don't watch DIY videos, cheers m8
Oguz Ozkirbas Fuck off and take a joke, feller.
Oguz Ozkirbas if your a pretentious jaded fuck face, life's going to be a bitch for you
actually my life is amazing bud
dan bilzerians life has nothing on mine
and guys theres no need to swear lets all be civilized and discuss our problems with one another like human beings
Oguz Ozkirbas A truly civilized man doesn't call another incompetent.
never get tinting done professionaly if your good with things like this... even if you arent good its probably still more cost effective to do it yourself.. tinting really isnt that hard to get it absolutely perfect aslong as you take your time seriously try it youl be suprised how easy it can be and tint is pretty cheap, so dont worry about messing up
Your funny
Id love to see some examples of your tint work. If Its soooooo easy i dont have a clue why 8000+ people paid me to do it for them.
theravedaddy I think it's called Convenience, same reason you go to the store to buy meat & other food items
Haha
theravedaddy I bought a BMW 528 for my younger bro, didn't have any tint. Decided to do it myself and it looks pretty great, never attempted it before but yeah with taking my time its not really hard tbh
theravedaddy agreed. I can do a lot of things car related such as painting, minor body repair, car wiring and electrics, vinyl wrapping etc, but Jesus Christ trying to tint my rear windows made me want to put my fist through the glass 😂 safe to say it ended up screwed up in a ball in the bin
Pretty sure you don't fully appreciate just how long the editing process takes to make a 20-minute episode as slick and well done as MCM's stuff. It takes AGES.
There's different ways to express impatience. Yours is the correct way, thanks for explaining it to people who don't get it!
These guys are masters.
you can also use a nano-carbon/ceramic tint rather than the metalized. This means you can still get phone signal through the tint ;)
Gotta love chilling and watching classics ❤
Good tinting is a work of art, takes practice and a lot of patience to get it perfect.
I have a Mazda bounty 2006 and did my rear 5% and front 35%.
>Initial D reference :^)
LOL!!! "That would be like insulting initial-D with some cheap tofu instead of that quality tofu" -Moog
*MIGHTY CAR MODS PLEASE DO SO MORE MODS ON THIS 3RD GEN SUBARU. I HAVE THE VERY SAME MODEL HERE IN US. I HAVE TO SAY THAT YOU GUYS (MARTY) GOT ME INTO THE SUBARU THING AND IM HOOKED. THATS WHY I BOUGHT MY 01 OUTBACK AND I LOVE EVRY INCH OF IT. BUT ITS SOME WHAT SLOW (NO TURBO) AND I WOULD LIKE TO LEARN ABOUT ALL THOSE AWESOME PARTS I CAN SWAP INTO IT.
(bigger rotors, brakes, evrything I can swap into it to make it more maaaad)
love the videos keep up the good work.
I can't get over how much I love the intro.
Hardest part of this mod .. finding $120 tint that's good quality delivered to my door
I'm just gonna go for the $10 Gila tints found in autozone. LMFAO.
MADBONE Hey guys does anyone know how much it costs to renew a registration a small car in Australia like a Honda civic. including green slip and all costs roughly.
The stuff they use is on ebay for a little over 120 (tho im not in australia so idk if the shipping is rediculous or not)
Price of the film to do it yourself- $150
Price to have a professional do your entire car - $200 USD.
For an extra $50 we get lifetime warranties here in the states. I dont see why anyone would even debate about trying to do this yourself. Its good to know how its done but Ill leave it to the pros and get a lifetime warranty.
You can buy a 100ft roll for 80 bucks, you could tint everyone's car in your family and save 200 bucks a pop or charge 100 and tint your friends cars
wdym you can get a whole roll for your entire care for 40 buck and it's quality from auto zone so I mean saving 150 bucks sounds good to me
>$40 roll of tint from Autozone.
Yeah carlos keep putting garbage on that hoopdie. Enjoy the bubbles and wack cut job.
Top vid. I came looking for how-to tint your own windows. You've convinced me to pay someone else to do it! LOL
I just hope they are meticulous as you guys!
Awesome, I can't wait to see the next part of the 1jz conversion! Finally! Whoop whoop it's gonna be maaaad!
emmmm... you still haven't mentioned how to get Johnson Window Films???
+Asterio www.google.com FFS
You don't deserve those 3 likes on your comment
Hikari I don't see where the hate came from?
Do you guys mean this video was a troll? well, sorry but I'm no expert in car, so I really couldn't tell if they are troll or not, unlike you guys.
Asterio i tried to say where you can find Jhonson Window Film by searching on Google... and no this video isn't a troll...
NP Rally Video Obviously that didn't work otherwise I wouldn't have posted such comment.
I actually spend few days search around on internet and across Australia for similar products, they are next to impossible to get privately, so I really thought these guys are somehow trolling...
does the razor not scratch the window glass?
+0SimpleSam Nope, you can actually sharpen steel with glass. Glass is harder than steel you know?
damn haha thanks
***** I have done it before, you use the frosted part of your window on your car or truck. Look it up, its high school science.
Don't use a razor on your rear window with the defroster elements.
Thanks brahsss.. Really helpful.. I was waiting for this for ages..
your subaru is just amazing!
When you live in Houston and all legit tinting starts at 100$
Bit late but that's in aussie dollars
This video is misleading because that car is relatively easy to tint. The back window is almost flat, and the side windows have no trim around them except for the bottom. I've made several attempts on my mk6 ford fiesta and it's a fucking nightmare and I've had to throw away most of my tint. If you are thinking of attempting this take a good look at your windows first. I would have been much better off paying 3x the cost for a professional to do a professional job, instead I'm fiddling around with something that's going to look like shit.
check out 'tintstuff' he has the best videos on CZcams on how to tint cars with trim
About bloody time for another video! :D
Great job guys,
I love all of your videos. Just one question, where do you buy the film from ?
Thanks
Why start with the hardest window first? If youve never done this better to start with the easier side windows first then work up to the back with the experience youll gain.
Secondly note they are doing this outside and under trees... while the trees give necessary shade (you do NOT want to do this in direct sun though parking it in sun after might speed the adhesive drying) they also will likely drop debris on you during application. Lacking a garage I just cut a huge piece of cardboard from a fridge box and held it down on the roof with a 45lb weight plate and moved it over each window as i went around the car. Doing a tint job in direct sun would just mean setting a world record in how fast you'd completely fuck it up- though I suppose someone who tinted professionally like 20 yeàrs could pull it off.
Thomas Andersen I stated two logical reasons why I disagreed with what they did and why it was better to do it differently.
Without arguing that the reasons were wrong you argue others may want to do it differently.
Its no bother to me if they want to be dumbasses and end up with a fucked up tint job.
Tell me though do you do tint jobs outdoors in direct sunlight or under trees that drop shit on you while youre working?
Good luck with that!
this is actually helpful, i'm looking to do this mod when the weather improves and thankfully i have the garage space to do it
Andrew K I assume youll be getting a precut set on ebay or similar... I did and they fit perfect. The film probably wasnt the best nor worst. They included a couple of cheap tools I wish I had spent $5 on a better smoother/squeegee thing the one they sent was rough and left some scratches.
When selecting how dark you want it remember that 5% stuff is nearly impossible to see out of at night. If youre used to driving a panel van with mirrors no problem. :-)
Its a bit like trying to spray paint outside in the driveway. Not impossible, but better to do inside a garage.
Please do this to a car that has frames around the window, this does not help the car owners that has a frame around the window wich i think most have.
Dalarna Skogen very true. I've seen some examples but better someone more experienced handle the heat.
honestly......just take the glass out....much easier
Thats MAD! I love the finished product!
The johnsons film they used is really good, my dad worked with the company with the import rights to it, very high quality stuff, used on all the cars my family has for years, no issues!
So.. Dumb question
Does the tint go on the I side or outside? It looked like on the doors it was aplies to the inside and on the rest was applied to the outside...
did you even watch properly..... they told you that it goes on the inside
Yes I watched. Thanks for the insult. I see them applying something to the outside of a couple of windows is all.
When he puts it on the outside his cutting it to shape and then he puts it in the inside
Stephen Butler doesnt seem like you paid attention, when thay laid the tint on the outside they were cutting the tint to fit, then the protective backing with the glue on it was removed and the tint was then applied to the interior of the car window.
Stephen Butler The actual tint goes on the inside...the outside is used for the template
I just got 30m tint off eBay for $25
Probably really shit quality
So ... How grotty was it after 1 month?
Thats enough to keep replacing it every year when it turns purple, well done.
got the same tint off eBay, have had it since May last year and has not turned purple at all and no bubbling. Extremely worth it cost me $27 total
You made it look so easy!! I always get bubbles n creases when I try and tint anything!!!
That looks excellent! Nice work.
$150 for full car. I got mine done whole car for $175. Lifetime warranty. Find a good place if you can and save the hard ache. Cool vid though for those wanting to do on their own
Some people are genuinely into learning new skills
Right but 100ft roll will allow you to tint multiple cars
$150 (AUS) - Around $110 (US)
I love how these guys rip on honda civics
This comment aged badly.
I love this. Are there other shows like this ?
the center looks great guys
Because you have the steering wheel on the wrong side? :)
+Frankie LowNRG Steering wheel is on the correct side.
+Chris Middleton no it's not
+cj cambell it's on the correct side for the country it is in... Australia
what a dumbass
bro...your intro is 34 secs long. Why does it need to be 34 secs long?
great episode guys.
ive done this so many times, but never once gotten it right, great tips!
5% was just ridiculous, the owner was probably embarrassed to be seen inside the car that's why it was that dark😂
We too, watched the video.
I have 5% behind the B-pillars, still plenty visibility to check my blind spots, but nobody sees what's in the back. The front isn't tinted as it's illegal where I live, probably wouldn't even do 20% if it were legal, that's just unsafe at night.
Jason Yanes How did you get 85% tint? Automotive glass is like already 75% VLT
$150 to do yourself >.< wow for £60 can get it done at a shop with guarantee lol
Where I live they try to scam you and say it costs £250 to tint your windows...
60 pounds is about a hundred dollars
Wow Neil that is for sure overpriced :S and ye mark 60 pounds maybe 100 dollars but if you diy and it goes wrong you have to pay more to correct it :D
Tom Bennett but you will have a big role of it to do it again xD
true but honestly i brought some cheaper stuff about £12 and i did my whole car out of it lol even though proffesionally fitted is cheap ish Cant really beat DIY but when they mentioned $150 i was abit shocked at this minor mod.
Awesome vid!
Realy great job with these How-To!
Thank you
That's MAAD bro. Can't wait for next episode.
this is bullshit, I started to tint my windows and it instantly wrinkled up and got tangled, this is not a do it yourself unless you're a professional, the hell with this I'm taking it to a shop
or you could just try again? thinking of giving a precut tint kit a shot.
I did mine myself, had to give it a second attempt on the rear, but the sides were easy-peasy. You need to spray the glue side liberally with soapy water, that way it doesn't stick on itself or the window until you position it perfectly and squeeze the water out.
Glad you mentioned initialD during the video, just reminded me that a new series starts this november! :D
Saved $100 doing it myself thanks guys cheers from merica.
You've definetly done this before, you make it looks easy!
Im going to try this in the morning, hope this Will work
I have a 2000 outback that I would love to have look like yours. And stormtrooper is a perfect description for it. Proper job here I am very jealous
Love your shows guys, very entertaining, very well produced, looking forward to the next project.
And you cant go wrong with Jap Cars!!!
So let me just get this straight, you guys only have something against the Civic drivers?
What about DC5 Type R drivers such as my self?
Great video guys!
@mightycarmods i love your stuff guys!! keep videos coming!:) geatings from italy!
nice work martin!
I love these guys, this is seriously usful
New Episode !!! MAD ! I Love you Guys MCM
Hey i'm from Perth and getting prepped to tint my 99 forester, cant find any tint besides cheap Ebay tint.
Anyone know where to get some quality tint?
the tint on that Subaru looks great mate its gold jerry pure gold my main man
Best video out there, thanks. Cheers.
love your show although im not ready to mod anything lol.. just love the presentation mixed with how to is well balanced n fun.
you guys are good at everything big fan makes me happy to bee a mechanic
DAMN!!!!!! Cant wait till next EPISODE its gonna me MAAAAAAAAD!
Awesome, Beneficial and Beautiful Demonstration. Thanks.
i was just thinking about tinting and you guys!
nicely done guys :)
also would it be easyier to take off the door panels?
to make sure the tint is below the rubbbberrr?
iv tinted a few cars and I learnt from this video, pre cut tint and heat gun and washing up soap and water in spray and your sorted just take time and you'll be fine yeah it might have taken you ages to learn but doesn't mean some one wont be able get fantastic results from doing it them selfs and another thing we could pay you £150+ to tint our windows or we could try it for £50
Here in Australia where this video was done, to get your tinting done by a pro costs $250. Cheaper if you shop around . That's a mere $100 more, but less the headache and stuffing it up. Let's not forget the parts like heat gun and the squeegee/guides cost as well. I guess these guys are like, do something on your car you can be proud of. Good luck to anyone, taking such challenge.
Song is "We Will Go Faster" by MOOG from the TRANSFORMER EP. Available on iTunes and MCM Shop. Both links are in description.
You guys are awesome!! Thank you for sharing! :)
I totally understand you! did you order some precut tint? It is much harder then it looks....
Stormtrooper Liberty honestly looks absolutely flurping amazing boys.
Can't wait for next eps.
Where did you buy the film from. "Johnson window films" wont sell to the public??
Cheers Pat.
Love your videos! Could you do a how to on wheels stud conversion? 4 stud - 5 stud?
Top Quality Vid as always Fellas. Proper MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD!!!
i love this show i think it's great to learn so much about the cars. I wanted to ask you a question, i recently bought a car and it only has break calipers on the front and has different breaks on the back, do you think it would still look cool to paint the front calipers or should i just leave them? cheers :)
Rear painted drums stand out like a couple a sore thumbs! Luckily by now you probably have a car with a proper brake setup
well done,nice job,keep a good work guys
I know right! and what a perfect song to go along with the 1jz as a theme song! :D
I love that outback!! Ha awesome Videos guys!!!!
Great presentation....not so afraid of giving it a go now!....lol
That black legacy looked sick!
Even though I've tinted before, I still watch this video only because of the sheer fact that it's MCM. Woo!
These guys are the BOMB
I got given some window tint but didn't remove the clear plastic to reveal the glue, will it stay stuck? Or does the cheap stuff not have glue?
Great tutorial btw thank you
goood i love mcm, i wish they uploaded more...
As a tinter id like to point out that you guys had it fairly easy with that back window, the curves on other cars can get pretty tricky and easy to burn up. But nonetheless it was a good DIY
ITS CRAZY CUZ THIS VIDEO RELEASED AS SOON AS I WAS MOTIVATED TO TINT MY WINDOWS!
Hey MightyCarMods, my falcons spoiler has lost its paint over coat, and its like bubbling, any tips of how i can fix this?
