✔️ Windows 10 - Fix Temporary Profile Issue - Looks Like ALL Your Documents and Pictures are GONE!

  • IMPORTANT NOTE: If you have moved any important files into your temporary profile, or created any important files while in your temporary profile BACK THEM UP BEFORE FOLLOWING THESE INSTRUCTIONS! Some comments have mentioned losing files in this way. You can copy them to your original user folder, or create a new folder in the root of C: and copy them there. The problem is that the TEMP user folder is REALLY TEMPORARY and will be deleted, with any data that was moved into it or created in it, when these instructions are followed.

    Two years later and this still ends up being a problem. My laptop updated last night and I had this same problem. The second fix was what helped fix everything. Thank you so much for explaining this in such a clear way, I don't know what I would have done otherwise.

      @@Ahmedch49 It worked out for me twice, I had this issue two times. I'm not entirely sure how to explain what to do if it doesn't work, because the second fix he lists in the video is what helped both times with my laptop

      @@Azura_Shades you deleted the one profile and then renamed the one by removing .bak ? I did the same a couple of times and restart my laptop but i can't see my original profile, theme, wallpapers etc.

      @@Ahmedch49 Yes, that's what I ended up doing. I had to pay close attention to the file I deleted. I'm not sure what's causing the issue for you if you still can't find your original things

      @@Azura_Shades my original things are in folder C as he showed in first place. When I deleted the profile without .bak it comes their again when I restart the computer.

      @@juzj3est3nn66 well every product has a flaw but microsoft really needs to improve their Windows OS. Every new Windows Update keeps getting worst and worst. Also windows 7 is no longer supported anymore so yeah the OS they are releasing is totally shit

    Dude, thank you. When I first turned on the PC in the morning and saw the temporary profile, at first I thought I caught a virus that plays with windows settings, paradoxically the day before I did several hours of working on a PC with important files. Your video is amazing and It saved me. You explain it well, you can understand it beautifully when you talk, you do everything slowly with explanations. Just great, really thanks!
    I don't understand how such a thing is possible on Windows 10 and how many people still have a serious problems with their OS. I miss the golden times when this never existed on Windows 7.

    I'm so grateful; I have thousands of photos of my grandchildren among others over the years and this Update freaked me out after the Reboot and I saw it all gone. Your method was much more easier to follow than the other video I saw. Again Thank you; Time to back up everything again.

    At first, I was unsure if this would work on my computer despite reading all the comments. I thought that my computer had no hope left... However, the second method worked for me !!! Thank you sooo much !!!
    By the way, do not panic if after you restart your computer (with method 2) & your computer is stuck on "preparing windows and to not shut your computer down." Just shut your computer down, and open it again. Everything should be back to normal. :)

    I just got really lucky- this happened to me, but the issue resolved when I turned the computer off and on again. This video had me feeling brave enough to turn it back on at all, I do regular backups but I did a lot of work last night and my heart was about to stop when I saw my desktop.     I appreciate you so much for making this video. Being this I used 2 - 3 different methods, all that didn't work, specifically they all ended up telling me something on the lines of me not using a temporary account which is odd. Although it's meant to tell you it's a temporary account, mine didn't though. At least this method had no block. I would honestly pay though I'm unable to sadly. Hopefully you're doing well for teaching many people this proven-to-work method. Great Job!

      I did the same as he said. I removed the one profile and then renamed the other by removing .bak but it didn't work out for me. Please help.

    Thank you for your help and this video.
    My wife's desktop computer ( somewhat infrequently used and updated ) just got hit with this blank profile.
    Everything vanished for her overnight, I suspected a blank profile but did not know how to fix it. This is the first time in >30 years with windows for us, that this has happened ... and I am extremely thankful for you posting this video and google pointing me to it.
    I would like to point out that we did step one, changing the 1 to 0 and windows update; but then faced black screen for 10-15 minutes, decided to force shut down, then recovered the windows installation and the desktop came back to normal.
    What a relief.

    Is there any hope that files can be recovered if they were found and copied into the temp profile, which I didn't realize I was in? When I restarted they disappeared. Thanks for your video.
