what model year car does it go up to w/o going online and doing updates? Thanks
Hi, Joe - I'm unsure on this but I'll pin your comment to see if anyone can help out. Thank you for watching!
Yours seemed to go to 2016. I saw some mention that the updates take it to 2017 presently.
usually it is 1996 and later
The easy to scratch screen you mention is actually a screen protection film. It's very thin and hard to notice, but it is there :) I removed mine, because it had a bubbles on the sides which were annoying to look at.
@Andy's Stuff - ah, ha! I just peeled mine off too and it looks much better. Thank you for pointing that out. However, somehow I have scratches across the display surface now even under the screen protector. But the underlying material doesn't seem to be as fragile as I originally thought. The only way to know the durability is to keep testing. Thanks again!
I noticed that too ! Mine is still on .
I was thinking the same thing But don't worry about the batterries They are just backup to fire the scanner up when its not connected to a car. I bought a ZR13 yesterday an I plugged it into a car without putting the batteries in and it worked just fine
This is good to know as well. I hadn't thought of trying it without the batteries.
your screen scratches because there's a plastic film protective covering on it you can just peel that protective covering off and then you got your nice clean unscratched screen underneath
Hi Alan! Thank you for your feedback. You are correct - Andy, in a previous comment, pointed this out as well. I couldn't see it, but sure enough when I started peeling around the buttons, the whole protective cover came off. It looks much better now. I think the design would be improved if the protective cover had a small tab outside of the lens area so it's obvious there is a protector on the surface. I appreciate your feedback and welcome to our community!
Cute ending lol....A new good screen protector will be nice to have or apply if available.
Yes they allow you to return these, but I am pretty sure they have a hefty restocking fee unlike their usual items....just pointing that out.
Hi, SNeal5966 - yes, I was told the same thing when I bought mine.
I wanted the zr13 had the coupon but it was backordered for 6 months. went with the zr11 instead. I did not need the srs ability anyway. The update process was quick and easy after downloading the updater software from the product details page on the Harbor Frieght website. went from firmware version v. 01.04.07 to v. 01.05.00
Hi, BlackCloud - thank you for the information on the firmware update and that it was a successful upgrade. I had a similar experience when I went to pick up the ZR13 - the reason I had to wait a few weeks is because although the store showed they had four in stock, they found that they had probably been shoplifted. I had to keep checking back for quite a while before they had a new shipment come in again. I bet the ZR11 runs just as well.
And welcome to our community!
No carrying case..deal breaker. Thnx for review.
You're welcome. That's what's great about these videos - it helps to find what you'll get before having to find out the hard way. 🙃
Sooo did it help figure out those two codes 0172 and 0175?
Can this diagnose "service brake assist" "service stabilitrack" and "service traction control"?
This zr13 does not offer fix accest
and is extremely hard to to a refund from harbor freight especially harbor freight in Fayetteville Ga30215 ,because the managers
brother-n-law is a professional mechenic ,and he will call the police on you if you disagree with his return policy lol
Hi, @woodhandj - it sounds as though you may or may not have had some interesting experiences down there in Fayetteville 😂. Usually Harbor Freight is good with their return policy so it might be time to find a different store location... before the police show up. 😄
Would this work on a 2006 Acura TSX?
Does the Z13 have a function to perform an ABS brake bleed? To bleed out air or old fluid from the ABS system.
Hi, JBear - I researched the manual and cannot find this functionality listed. I also plugged this into my vehicle just to double-check for any undocumented features, and I couldn't find this function in the menus. Hope that helps.
this product can't scan my Toyota Sienna 98 ABS don't waste your $
Does this bleed abs brake module
Hi, Mike - no, unfortunately not. I have checked in the manual and in the device itself to see if there was an undocumented feature. Hope that helps and welcome to the community!
Does it clear ABS codes or only scan for them? Thanks!
Hi, Jef - yes, I have used it to clear ABS codes. Hope that helps, and welcome to the community!
@@robkinney Thanks for the quick response! There is no way to delete emission stuff, is there?
@@jefrey5578 - This tool lets you read emission-related data and clear those type of stored codes. For example, in the video you noticed that the Tahoe was running a bit rich. I am able to examine the STFT and LTFT values as well as the Fuel Alcohol Content. However, I could not reset the Fuel Alcohol Content with this tool. You will need a more advanced diagnostics scan tool for that, such as the Tech2 if you have a GM vehicle. I had to approach this problem from another angle, but I was able to clear the code in the end with the ZR13. Hope that helps.
Will this read pending codes??? You just plug in and scans by itself or what ? My friend has one he bought on offer up and its worthless every time we scan a car we get no codes except for some old codes stored that are from the original owner
Hi, Eazy Goflow ! Yes, this reads pending codes. I have been using it to read a variety of systems in a variety of vehicles. You plug it in, confirm the vehicle you are scanning, choose the system to scan, then it will return codes for that system/module. I am hoping someone with better knowledge in this area can help, but is sounds as though your code reader is not actually connecting to the vehicle to get the codes. A quick call to Zurich may be in order so they can help confirm the reader is working correctly. Hope this helps and good luck!
Good vid
Can you check to see if the reset BMS (Battery Management System) is supported for a 2013 Lincoln MKZ? Thanks.
Hi, John - The best I can find in the manual for the battery reset is that it works "for BMW, Ford and Volvo models only" on page 75 and 76, so this may actually work. Is there anyone out there that has this experience and can help John out? John, if you find the answer, I'd love to know if it works for you.
Thanks Bigfoot. I want to buy the tool but I need to know if it will work for a Lincoln. thanks.
Can it monitor the transmission shifting when driving?
Hi, Classic Car Garage - I don't see any options for this function on mine - or at least with my vehicle combination. You may need a more specialized unit for this. Hope that helps, and welcome to the community! 😎
HOW DO I GET 1 OF THOSE COOL KEY CHAIN FROM
Hello - are you referring to this item? amzn.to/2Gzq9QL
can it reset or auto bleed abs?
Hi, Susan - the ZR13 can read the codes (and reset them) associated with ABS, but it cannot perform maintenance procedures such as bleeding the brakes. Hope that helps!
Nice review.
However, it will work on your cat. You just tried to plug it in the wrong end. ;)
Just lift it by its tail and you will learn a lesson that you can in no other way.
how much did u pay? I believe it was made by innova. as it is almost identical to my 3160g. $300.00 at amazon
Hi, James - I paid about $189. I've seen it cheaper since then. And welcome to our community!
Now if I can just get Windows to recognize my ZR13 so I can update firmware... :O (Update: it's basically the same as the Innova 3160f, so the Repair Solutions software will pull the updates for it.)
actually its not an Innova 3160f rather it is an Innova Pro 5100 right down to the buttons & style: pro.innova.com/Product/FullDetail/5100
How do you erase the codes after you did the repairs but keeps putting the warning light on after you did the service already?
I have the same brand n model.
Thanks
For the help
Hi @Junior Sandoval - I just went out to the Tahoe to try erasing some codes. From the home screen, click the red button that looks like a square eraser on the front panel (at about the 10:00 position). The scanner will confirm erasing all codes - scroll to Yes and Enter, and it should erase all the stored codes for the vehicle. Hope that helps.
Bigfoot Dad Explores Montana For GM vehicles, here's a handy ZR13 tip to keep your previous SES codes when erasing. Use the OEM Enhanced screen to view and reset the SES. The old codes are retained in the OEM Enhanced section of the ZR13's memory for further research. :)
Hi Christopher - thank you for the info! This will come in handy.
Bigfoot Dad Explores Montana You're welcome! Make sure you disconnect the tool immediately after resetting. What parts of the Big Sky do you explore most?
Junior Sandoval If you did the service, and erased the codes, if the same codes return more diagnosis is needed to solve the problem.
Bigfoot Dad Explores Montana Hey man does this scanner program key fobs and re-learn pcm's.. nice video otherwise..thanks
Hi, Mike - I just looked in the manual and I don't see either of those functionalities. I don't think this reader is that advanced. Hope that helps and welcome to the community!
@@BigfootDadExploresMontana thanks for checking it out for me man
trash, that where the zurich zr13 we bought for our fleet ended up in-
the zurich couldnt read some of our vehicles, which our old CarScans had no issues with
the zurich would give us conflicting live data info-
and several times we had misreads from the zurichs, making us have to use our old CarScans to verify...
we trashed this trash, got some Autrels and have been happy ever since-
just my 2cents
Hi, aztecadog - this is good to know and valid feedback. Thank you for letting us know. Others could be experiencing similar experiences.
u have many thumbsdown cuz u didn't demonstrate at least one sample showing the problem of any car... that stuff could be another scam
Thank you for the tip, Bal. 😎
@@EHUE-kf4ey Ok... but you are all caps... are you mad?
You do not need música. It is very hard to listen what you are saying.
Hi, Nestor - thank you for your feedback. I have adjusted the music in the later videos as I have gotten some similar feedback before too. I also found that it widely depends on the headphones or speakers used to view the video - with some the voice is clear, others it's washed out and hard to hear. I hope you enjoyed the video and will stick around to see more. Thanks!😎
I checked and it won’t really do jack squat for my 2016 Tubdra
Hi, Pan - that's frustrating! It may be hit and miss on these more inexpensive scanners. I hope you find one that works better and feel free to let us know what works better for you. Good luck!
Robot here....
Hi, Bill long, Robot - thanks for stopping by! 😃
This guy treats it like a clothes accessory ! Useless video by inexperienced person !
Bush - thank you for your feedback. ;~]
Can this diagnose "service brake assist" "service stabilitrack" and "service traction control"?
Hi, Daniel - I've used the ZR13 on my Tahoe to diagnose a Stabilitrack issue. In my case, it told me that the steering position sensor was the cause. I replaced that and ever since then it's been running great. Hope that helps.
Will this reset a 4l60e transmission??
Hi, Tim - I have the 4L60E transmission, but haven't had a chance to reset any codes from there. Can anyone else help Tim out with his question?
