  • Democratic Alliance Leader John Steenhuisen addressed supporters in Paarl where the party launched its Western Cape manifesto on 6 April 2024.
During his address he called parties like Patriotic Alliance and GOOD “political mercenaries”. He also denounced them for campaigning in the DA-run province, and claimed there was a desire by some to loot the Western Cape.

Extremely anti Steenhuizen commentary. No indication of what he said that's so egregious. If it's his comments about coalition parties contesting the top municipality in SA which is DA run then he is right. Why fight the DA when you could be contesting in delinquent ANC municipalities? Go fix what is broken, not taking over that which is well run.

    • @Tinker8531

Well run for who? The fact that you can ignore that the DA runs the municipalities at the same level of the ANC in poor areas in the WC shows you have the same mentality as the DA. The nerve of you lot to think that people who are treated with contempt by the DA should vote for them, is absolutely ridiculous. People will vote on their lived experience!!!

Is John alone responsible for the tale of two cities in the WC or is it DA as a Whole. DA thought they could win on Swart Gevaar forever. Its simply of case of two cities one which is well governed and the other neglected. Whether we like to admit it or not, DA is about keeping what was there before 1994 . Its no surprise Education standards in WC are dropping and other provinces are doing better, that WC has the least people taking Maths at matric level in state schools. It was never in their and their funders interest to have a skilled well educated Non White population in the WC. No surprise they took from the education budget to use it on fighting crime. Good education and jobs are a well known fact across the world as the best deterrent for people getting into crime in the first place. Like the ANC, DA's chickens are coming home to roost. NEVER ABUSE YOUR VOTERS, WHICH IS ESSENTIALLY THE VOTES THAT KEEP YOU IN POWER.
