As someone who lives in germany, i still remember it. Every talkshow was constantly talking bad about Özil. Proof that some will never be accepted, no matter how much you integrate. They want you to assimilate; assimilate your religion, assimilate your culture, assimilate your passion.
First of all he shouldn't have met Erdogan. Imagine if a Jewish player converted to Islam and living in Turkey or other Islamic country and if he meet Nethenyahu. How will you people react dude. He was criticized for supporting a human rights violator and that is a good thing. You dont have to live in Türkiye. Other people have to live there. What he did was extremely anti-Turkish and also anti-Muslim. Look at what ERdogan did to Deniz Yücel and others.

Hypocracy would be if you criticize things you are still supporting. Furthermore does the WEst criticize itself, because they have a free press. That is not allowed in a couple of other countries. Türkiye has a lot of restriction in the freedom of press. It is strange that the video does not criticize Özil for being a hypocrite, because he is one. That just shows their bias. But suddenly Özil and his fans care about human right when it comes to the Uighur issue. The irony is the issue was published by the same GErman media outlets that he ciritcized. So if it fits his narrative he uses the outlet when it comes to the defend Türkiye and their citizens he doesnt care.

1. People praised Ozil for his Uyghur gesture, however arsenal is privately run business and they can't support any political acts whereas fifa world cup is not a private affair, so such criticisms can be allowed
2. Ozil is Turkish culturally but politically he is a German. So he can meet any Turkish person in cultural capacity but not in a political capacity coz he met Erdogan as the Turkish president. For example no one really criticized him and rightly so when Erdogan turned up as the best man at his wedding
And Ozil has been awarded German Player of the Year 5 times ffs, so any kind of hate talk against Ozil is wrong
