Zeus’s fatal flaw - he isn’t able to stay loyal to someone, especially when it comes to marriage
Isn't a "fatal flaw" supposed to affect and inconvenience the character who has it, rather than just the others around him/her?
Yes
How do people like you come up with these really good/hilarious comments! :))
@@omniavanitas7893 r/woosh
OOF-
It’s really interesting that it was Annabeth and Percy‘s fatal flaw that got them into Tartarus and got them out of Tartarus.
Yeah his loyalty to his friends (Rip Bob)
If pjo was an actual greek text annabeth would surely have died, hubris is basically a death condamn in greek myths
@@fabioviti7384 But no, little Annie is just too important to die, and her flaw shouldn't be fatal!
@@cringeygachakidthatalsodoe7154 well, I don't say she should die, but in the greek myths hubris is the biggest fault, and every character that has it dies at the end
@@fabioviti7384 that's actually not always true: Odysseus' fatal flaw is Hubris (best exemplified by him mocking Polyphemus and telling him his name as they sailed away, which allowed Polyphemus to pray to his father Poseidon and ask him to make Odysseus' life a living hell) and he gets a pretty happy ending in The Odyssey. He is an exception tho, so I'll give you that.
It’s kind of ironic (and very depressing) that Jason broke his fatal flaw, and it’s what got him killed. He made the choice that he will die, and not Piper. He chose, without deliberation, to save his friends. He made the most non-deliberative choice possible and died all the same. A true hero.
Wait what book is this from? I've read all 5 of HOA but Jason never died there.
@@gale4380 it is the sequel series, the Trials of Apollo. Sorry for the spoilers😓
@@FrostReach66 ah shit, guess it's time I read the last part
I quit reading these after the first book sequel to the PJ series. Didn’t like it, far too little Percy.
For jason i thought he was either gonna say his fatal flaw is hes dead, or a brick

Tyson's fatal flaw is actually being far too badass for the series that he's contained in. He's the Percy Jackson version of Shaggy.
Yeah Tyson could beat Chaos in a 1v1 while using 0.5% of his power.
@@goofytnt2126 true. Rick was actually going to have Tyson come to Tartarus to save Percy and Annabeth in House of Hades, but he had to scrap that idea and write the part for Bob instead because he realized it would be a plot hole having Tyson go down there, since he could one-shot Tartarus with a jar of peanut butter.
Yup Tyson is so underrated

I like how Percy and Annabeth fell into Taurturs because of their fatal flaws but escaped by conquering their fatal flaws.
Because Annabeth knew wasn't good enough and Percy couldn't save Bob and Damasen . . . I never even realized that.
Low-key stole this one
@The Tenth Ringwraith you did or they did? ‘Cause a lot of people have noticed it so I don’t think it would be stolen
I’ve always felt bad for Pandora. Like the literally made her curious and also gave her the box, it was really setting her up for failure.

it was a family issue stemming from prometheus (the eagle eating the dudes liver while he was chained to a boulder)
I personally found Perry's flaw the most interesting, not because he's the main character but, because I kind of relate to it, I always want what's best for those around me even thou it could end up hurting me in the process. I always saw loyalty as a good quality to have, never really seeing the possible downside.

Percy’s fatal flaw is loyalty, which is why his Achilles heel was on his back. This was also the reason why he fell into Tartarus, and also the reason why Annabeth fell into Tartarus as well. Her fatal flaw is hubris which is partially why she didn’t cut off Arachne’s web.
the way lukes sword was named backbiter aswell😭😭
Leo Valdez always thinks that he will never get the girl. Little does he know that every girl in the world wants to be his girlfriend. ALL DA LADIES LOVE LEO.

Percy’s fatal flaw is deeper it’s not just he would do anything to protect his friends. he feels he has to be the one to do it he NEEDS to be their shield and doesn’t want anyone else to do it for him he needs to be in front so he can protect them and his inability to step down and let someone else help out for once is a big problem for him
I liked that you pointed out how similar Thalia and Percy are, with a connection that I never really made.
However, I would like to add Nico to that equation. Not due to fatal flaw, but due to everything else:
- Look very much alike, with the Mediterranean complexion and build. Along with looking more like their fathers. They could honestly pass for siblings and no one would notice.
- Having a thing for blondes, as shown by Luke (and Apollo), Annabeth, and Will respectively.
- Weird obsession with cheeseburgers.
- Extremely sarcastic and pessimistic (less for Thalia, more with Nico and Percy).
- Have been turned into something.
- Afraid of their powers or their element: Thalia afraid of heights, Percy afraid of drowning+what he can do, Nico afraid of the dark+his powers.
Honestly, you could throw Bianca in there too, since she was afraid of death, had a slight pessimistic streak, and looked like her father.
"Have been turned into something" the truest line ever
@Singularity And a dandelion
thalia: for a pessimist im pretty optimistic
i hope someone gets the reference
What was nico turned into?
@@smc912 A dandelion (via Persephone) and a corn plant (via Triptolemus).
I would like to point out you missed 2 flaws of characters I can think of. Hades has the same one as his children, holding grudges as was evident in most of the first series. Posideon does like being controlled or told what to do. Just some I wanted to share, love the video
Hades acting like the shredder, tai lung and lord Shen.
Poseidon just wanted to serve anyone he please. Poseidon has slavery syndrome. Poseidon believed that his purpose is being controlled by anyone even if he doesn’t like it.
My fatal flaw is definitely laziness. I have a constant struggle to push myself to do something even when I know it is important. I hold myself back constantly because it's hard for me to preserver and and most of my problems that I encounter in life are derived from being lazy and it's something I really need to work on.
same here but i think that my fatal flaw would actually be thinking that something turns out right but it actually is the other way like carelessless
I don’t think I agree with Reyna’s fatal flaw being ambition. I think it’s closer to Hazel’s - her past, specifically committing patricide. Her fears and guilt drove her to run, physically and emotionally, from something that is an intrinsic part of her. This, in addition to Aphrodite’s statement that “No demigod would heal her heart,” led her to feel inadequate and question her own place in the world of demigods. Reyna’s primary characteristic is her feeling like she doesn’t belong, and that’s what drives her to become her image of a perfect Roman praetor without actually considering her own feelings and desires.
Great video!!
Yeah, I agree with this statement.
In some of the many, many, many versions of greek mythology, it is said that Hera cursed Hercules with madness, as she had done once before, with Dionysus' maternal aunt and uncle. So that's a fun fact.
True but in Percy Jackson he just has pure wrath. He nearly kills the seven just because they were on a mission from Hera.
Ikr. He needs an immortal therapist or something lmao.
Hera turned her son into the Joker?
That’s one evil of a mother.
That’s pretty evil.
Boy that’s low.
@@joshuahecht6866 Hercules was not Hera’s son. He was Zeus son from another woman, and Hera hated all his extra-marital children ((
something interesting to take note of: percy was the only one of the big three's children who could complete the great prophecy. in order to win against the titans whoever was fighting luke would have to trust him.
a child of Zeus may let their ambition overtake them and try to take the kill, gaining all the glory.
a child of Hades wouldn't trust luke because of his betrayal.
a child of Poseidon would trust luke, because they would've been friends at one point.
My fatal flaw is definitely selfishness. I can be incredibly selfish and care about my own needs way more than about other people's.
Sometimes I wish I was more selfless.
But Percy Jackson showed me that having flaws is completely normal and that you can overcome them.
I have pride(I think) I definitely have a big ego
Definitely pride for me as well, I cant ask for help at all cause its been drilled into me since I was young that of I asked for help I was being annoying.
Being able to admit a flaw as great as Selfishness takes massive courage. With a mind like that you’ll eventually overcome it.
Be careful not to go to far in the opposite direction either , if watching She-Ra season 5 religiously has taught me anything it's that there's an extremely fine line between being selfless and being self-destructive.
Mine is Apathy. I'm not good at being engaged in other peoples lives. I have the mindset of "As long as it doesn't affect me, who cares", which isn't the best way to interact with other people.
I would say that Reyna’s fatal flaw isn’t ambition but rather excessive sense of duty/ righteousness and inability to overcome the past. In the Trials of Apollo she felt relieved to have to give up leadership roles like Praetor and join the Hunter of Artemis willingly. I think the reason she takes up such responsibilities is because she feels a sense of duty to do so - to reconcile Greek and romans which led her to seek the Athena Parthenos, to sacrifice herself to deliver the statue because it is the right thing to do, to remain Praetor despite being laboured because she constantly thinks that the romans need a strong leader. This can be her fatal flaw as well - excessive sense of duty/ righteousness - but in Blood of Olympus it is reviewed that she had a dark and traumatic past and refuses to look back into it. Her sister urges her to face the past but she almost refuses to do so, and this kind of shaped her into a person who tries to act strong no matter what.
everyone's talking about Percy and Annabeth and Tartarus, but no one is talking about Leo and how his fatal flaw inconsequently caused him to go out with a bang (literally) and become a vital part in saving the world. Just a thought.
I’ve been waiting for more Riordanverse content!!!

I realised that Hazel overcoming her fatal flaws can be seen as a metaphor for therapy: telling Frank her story and past trauma allowed her to rid of this burden and so her past didn’t haunt her anymore because she had finally accepted it and Frank helped understand she really did nothing wrong!
Your timing with this video could not be more impeccable. I'm currently re-reading all of these books as we speak.

lol, for me its liek, the 6th time, but there still AMAZING
Riordan is a genius. It's so interesting to see an author take a basic staple of character building in writing and make it a canon force in the story. Fatal Flaws are also known as "Shards of Glass" in the writing community. They're beliefs and experiences that dig under the character's skin, constantly causing pain and irritation and driving their actions and misbeliefs in an attempt to ease that pain. They often cause a character to mistake things they WANT for things they NEED. Luke WANTED to get revenge on Hermes and the other gods for hurting him and his siblings and not acting like family but what he NEEDED was to acknowledge that he didn't need the gods at all because he'd built his own family at the camp that loved and valued him.
Like you mentioned with Percy, these Shards can also be beneficial in moderation since our past experiences that cause pain can teach us good things that we overcommit to. Percy grew up with no one that cared about him besides his mother, who always put him first and sacrificed everything for him, even purposefully suffering years of abuse for him. Percy took that example of showing love with loyalty and applied it to everyone he cared for in a similar self-destructive manner, making his personal loyalty into his shard of glass/fatal flaw.
My fatal flaw is fear….Like literally I’m too scared to do anything and one fear of mine just leads to another….
Dude same
llike aunt joesephine
Honestly same.
also just wanna say Hercules is roman, Heracles is Greek I don't know when they got mixed up or how and also the reason why the Romans now Heracles is that he became a god after the 12 labors so yeah
Disney - the Hercules film would’ve mixed it up
@@libbykenilworth4253 yeah.
my best friend said this to me
"percy's fatal flaw is loyalty, and when he had the curse of Achilles the only way to defeat him was to stab him in the back"
i...
Luke's sword/scythe was called Backbiter...
Omg!
I always thought Apollo´s journey as Lester is soo interesting because you can see how much he really looked up to Percy and Jason, took them as an example on how to get his quest right. Throughout the whole TOA series you can see how he admires them more and more. He wants to be like them and doesn´t really see that he ist enough just as he is. So much that he ist soo fiercely loyal to everyone who sees him as worthy and believes in him.
I think my fatal flaw is probably the same as Jason's. Temptation to deliberate. I'm really quick to be a mediator and will listen to both sides of the story and I'm quick to just go along with whatever everyone else wants to do. I never really saw it as a flaw but I've realized it can make me passive and submissive and when people actually want me to chose I usually don't know what to do.
Good timing with this video! I was recently studying the concept of fatal flaws in these books while I was considering some of my own work, because exploring such flaws has always been interesting to me. The only thing I wish they explored more was having more than one flaw, because I feel that most people are realistically more likely to have more than one. But it was still a really clever way to adapt tragic flaws for a modern audience.
you should do a speculative video that would be called "Harry Potter Fatal Flaws (If Harry Potter Characters had Fatal Flaws from Percy Jackson)"
I like this idea!
Harry’s would be willingness to save people/recklessness, Ron’s would be jealousy, Hermione’s would be pride in her studies, Ginny’s would be I don’t know actually, Neville’s would be low self-esteem, Luna’s would be absentmindedness. Albus Potter’s would be a thirst to prove himself (a Slytherin trait!), Albus’ OC First friends would be determination and Scorpius’ would be his confidence, Rose’s would be similar to Hermione’s, Hugo’s, I don’t know, Lucy Weasley (Hufflepuff) would be loyalty.
Oh harry and ron is easy... Heroes Complex and jealously
Hermione is a little more complicated it can be the same as annabeth Or being stubborn
I think it should be her being stubborn cause most of the conflicts around her is mostly cause of her stubbornness
Movieflame: posts Percy Jackson content
Me: took you long enough
The fact that, in true Greek Tragedy fashion, Luke's fatal flaw lead to his downfall and eventual death-
This is so amazing. All these subtle hints in the book were overlooked, by me atleast! Amazing job Morgan, for putting these together and bringing is this amazing video. I love all the PJO content. Keep it up 😉
My fatal flaw would b insecurity, part of it is that I don't think or believe sometimes that people understand what I'm saying when I try to explain it. And I need people to agree with me a lot more, as if they already do like 4 out of 10, I need like 7 of 10.
Its been talked about since 2020 or longer that Percy Jackson will b rebooted as a Disney+ animated series that'll do better then the films did. I've found a fanmade opening intro that looks good.
Mine would probably be perfectionism or the fact that I can’t help everyone
Or insecurity
@@katplays4976 mine would be carelessness
I hope the next time he does it he does the story of Jason Grace, as while there are blank periods, there is quite a bit to sift through
I like Apollons, because it shows that, like humans, flaws can change as well, and I find that hella interesting!
Finally someone who says Thalía correctly
IKR
I feel like Harry's fatal flaw is having to save people, Ron's is getting jealous easily, and Hermione's is anybody outsmarting her
So Harry has like a hero complex, Ron's is jealousy and Hermione's is pride
Harry James Potter has a hero complex which will wear out over time after Voldemort died for real.
Ron Bilius Weasley is not getting jealous so much anymore due to having the ones he loved and trusts them all completely like Percy, Bill, Ginny and Hermione. Especially his brother-in-law Harry James Potter.
Hermione Jean Granger’s pride won’t stop harming others but at least she recognizes that they are smarter people than her and she will have to accept that. Harry and Ron are smart like the time for Basilisk and the Deathly Hallows.
So Their fatal class are finished.
Hermione's flaw is similar to annabeth's hubris
So harry would have percy s fatal flaw loyal to fault
I feel like annabeth could have two fatal flaws, thogh the second one is not really fatal. Her second one(apart from hubris) could be the same on as hermione's. They also have very simmilar character layouts and personalities, if you realized
Piper is a really interesting case, she is both the exact opposite of most Aphrodite children and the exact necessary for the Argo II
YES! IVE BEEN WAITING SO LONG FOR PERCY VIDEOS! Thanks so much!
I really like Percy's excessive loyalty to his friends. It really shows what kind of person he is and how much he cares about his family and friends especially Annabeth. In The a battle of the Labyrinth, she's the only one who knew about his Achilles heel and it's why she took the knife for him when Ethan Nakamura attempted to stab him but she took the knife for him when they were fighting Kronos and his army. I also like Annabeth's fatal flaw too. It's really interesting since she's pretty much the only one of the seven that doesn't have a special power.
Yay! I've been waiting for more Percy Jackson videos
So glad to see another Percy Jackson video after some time. Great video!!!
Youre such a rad human!! Thank you for all your awesome content and just overall infectious smile/joy. I cant even describe how good it feels to see someone else excited over my childhood favorite!! I think Rick Riodan would be so proud

Great analysis on the characters. Truly looking forward to more of this.
Awesome. I knew most of these but I am happy to see ones I didn't know! Keep making the awesome videos. I'm excited to see whatever is next.
Though I will always say Talia, (because the Greeks didn't have a sound for the letter H. Based on ancient Hellanic time periods) it's good to see that the argument has been put to rest.
I would argue that children of Hades/Pluto is almost always holding onto things too tight, whether it be grudges or the past
That's actually super smart😮
I am always very protective of the way names are pronounced so thank you for saying correct pronunciation. The way you say it is also accurate to their cultures origins.
Love these Percy Jackson content!! Pls make more!
Thank you for doing at least one more Percy Jackson video, it is a good series and I am happy you did at least one more
Percy's flaw is what we call a "MC flaw", symtoms maybe saying things like "I have to do this alone, I cant let anyone else get hurt, I cant stay here my friends need me etc" They generally tend to be teenagers, have some kind of prohecy about them and be stronger than average. Also it mainly effects people who's name is plastered all over the cover/posters. Some famous people to suffer from this are Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, Naruto Uzumaki etc.
Bro I love ur Percy Jackson videos pls make more of them

I love your work, keep it coming
Honestly I like to think that I’m a combination of Percy, Leo and Frank in the way of iamb loyal to my friends and family and love them dearly, but I suffer from heavy self doubt and inferiority probably because anxiety and depression are a bitch in my life.
I really did enjoy the video keep up the good work my dude.
I just finished listening to the Percy Jackson a few weeks ago. I stoped reading in the very beginning of the 4th book due to the movies. I got in a convo with my friend abt it and wanted to reread and finish the books. I can’t wait for Disney to make the new movies.
This video is awesome keep it up and please continue doing Percy Jackson videos
I liked how you actually told us how pressing the like button would help you!
Is it just me or has anyone else also wondered how that helped?
Is it just me or would I rather have Hazel’s fatal flaw be an actual human emotion? Just reducing her character flaws down to an intangible idea like her past reduces her character and the problems she experiences in her past and present, along with the fact that the rest of the characters have flaws that seem more real like inferiority or pride. I personally think a better fatal flaw for her would be guilt as it ties into the guilt she has over her curse and indirectly resurrecting Gaea, which is something she experiences in both the past and the present. Plus this connects with Nico’s fatal flaw of holding grudges, as they’re both children of the Underworld, but instead of holding a grudge against others, she has a grudge against herself.
14:09 Kind of cool you used Kid Icarus Uprising model for Pandora’s Box. Nice touch.
Don't forget that he also used Arachne from Soul eater and Disney Hercules when he used it to describe the respective character
All the evidence point to me being a Hades kid:
1. I have gotten Hades as my parent so many times on the official Camp Half-Blood sorting quiz
2. My fatal flaw is definitely holding grudges. I've been told that it's like I nurture it like a plant or something.
2. I pretty much have all of Nico's personality traits including not trusting people easily, anti-social behaviour, and enjoying the dark better than the light.
My fatal flaw is empathy. I’ll die before I see others hurting. I feel everyone’s pain sometimes on a deeper level then they even feel it. It controls my life, I never stop thinking about what others are going through 😔
I wonder if Frank acquired a new fatal flaw? Like distrust? A big part of HOO was the story around how his life depended on that stick, which, if burned, would kill him. The only people he trusted were Hazel and Percy. It took him a long time to trust the others, especially Leo (because of his connection to Hazel and because of his fire abilities). I bet trust was something that became hard for Frank still after that as well.
PJO/HoO is the best bro ❤️
Well finally!! Been waiting for a new Percy Jackson video!
I’d say my fatal flaw is I can be inconsiderate with what I say. Many times I just say the first thing that comes to my head without really considering if it’s offensive, even if it’s a joke cause it makes me look like selfish or arrogant
Sameee...
My fatal flaw is insecurity, it ends up ruining some of my friendships and making me feel completely awful
Same. That and pride. I’m super insecure and constantly try to seek validation and do self destructive stuff, but I’m also to prideful to the point where I can’t face people when I feel like they might be upset with me for something.

When I first saw the title of the video I thought you were going to talk about flaws in the series. Like, things that aren‘t good.
Then I had a second look and was so relieved!
Jasons fatal flaw is not temptation to deliberate but not being able to stay conscious 😂
My favorite Fatal Flaws, in writting characters would be; wrath, vengence, hubris, inferiority, low self-esteem, and loyalty.
Mainly because i understand these flaws the most.
Also, Jason had several abandonment issues something he kinda shared with Nico. Just pointing that out.
I was wondering when you’d post another PJ one!

Interesting video, Morgan! Nice job. I always look forward to your Percy vids.
What do you think your godly parent and potential fatal flaw would be? If you know or have a theory. . . I'd be curious to know
I'm a child of Athena, and I think my fatal flaw would be either personal loyalty (leading to me getting taken advantage of or making a bad decision for the bigger picture). or low self-esteem. Which are interesting because they aren't "typical" Athena flaws. But I really do think I'd be a child of Athena over all the other options.
Anyway I'm curious what yours are, and thanks I enjoyed the vid!
Zeus’s fatal flaw: he can’t keep it in his pants.

can you do the same for the Kane chronicles and Magnus chase and the Norse gods?
Oof, Percy's fatal flaw being Loyalty could be written even more tragically in the future, such a personality trait is powerful.
I wonder if the Riordan-Verse will end with a super upsetting, classical "Greek Tragedy" situation, Percy's Loyalty to everyone being the main, final straw in the stories epic finale.
(Also, Leo having Inferiority and Frank having Low Self-Esteem kinda makes a similar parallel between those 2, funnily enough)
Yeah Leo and Frank are a lot alike. Which is funny, considering they hate each other at first.
