My Amazon parrot: "Help, help, let me out!"

- Paco is my three-year-old Double Yellow Headed Amazon parrot. Since he doesn't talk when he sees me or the camera, I set the camera on the nearby piano and recorded 12 minutes of his morning chatter. This morning he was definitely fixated on corn! About mid-way through the video he began yelling "Help! Let me out!"
I just read somewhere about Police (or fire dept/ambulance) somewhere breaking in to help a poor person who screamed for help. When they came in, they found a parrot who was alone home, longing for some company, I guess... 😂

ROTFL! I have a 30 year old Double Yellow Headed Amazon named Sunshine, and though I sing this endlessly, she has never learned to sing it with me. But she does dance to it. And she sings "Hello, Dolly." So there's that. Thanks for sharing. Paco rocks.
Do the dyh sing more than the less yellow colored ones?
I doubt that these birds "communicate" through there vocalizations, but I am quite sure that they are aware that their performances will result in contact / social interaction with their human companions. This is certainly what a caged bird desires as much as food and water. What beautiful and amazing creatures.
Were I to knock on that door and hear someone crying out "Hello Hello help me let me out" you can be sure I'd crash in that door or smash a window to help that person..uhhhumm..bird 😆 🤣

This is a brilliant video, and an excellent way to show that large parrots are perfectly capable of communicating with us, and using words in context. I am constantly in awe of how incredibly intelligent they are, and most people fail to recognize that until they see a bird speaking or using tools.

Such a good talker, I just want to let him out but my amazon parrot says all kind of things to get me back in the room including telling me he is putting his makeup on so they don't always know what they are saying although they are very intelligent . My bird lives out of his cage with the door open all the time but plenty can't as it's not safe for them I'm lucky mine won't chew electric cables or anything but some are a danger to themselves . This lovely bird certainly knows what to say to get attention. Amazon parrots are such characters and love to get exactly what they want
I just got an aggressive amazon parrot who is an adult, how would I train him? I have two male Indian ringnecks, who I trained since babies but this one has never been out his cage, around other birds, hasn't had toys or been held. he only gets talked to
@@laurencabrera1966 exactly like mine , I followed Barbara heindenrich style and was gentle and quietly firm and as my parrot loves food it works well . I only have him so he can do what he wants so bit easier but I would be careful with the other parrots and introduce carefully as I think amazon males could be aggressive to other birds. I'm sure if they are treated for positive behaviour around other birds they would be friends in no time. I also mind my fingers around mine and used multiple perches and branches set up around his cage with door open or closed to teach step up with a target stick and treats to avoid him biting me which he loved so much and would hop between them for attention. Mine was affected mentally by being stuck in cage and shouted at or covered up when he made noise for most of his life and is still a bit stubborn but food and positive attention, music and fun is completely irresistible to him. +milobaggins thank you. and yeah the man who had him since a baby had him in a small cage, no toys, or even been around other birds. so this will be his first time around birds, getting held, getting toys and being outside
@@laurencabrera1966 poor bird , he very lucky then to have a good life now. Good for you . They really love attention I think so I use that to my advantage but apart from that I just make sure my parrot is happy and as free as possible which is all they really want I think
+milobaggins me too. my other birds which are ringneck were abused, and this one was not properly cared for. his only companion was a mop. I want to be able to free fight him and take him camping, to the beach, stores, etc. my birds are rarely in their cage they are always flying and playing. I would like to get him to be used to cuddling, wear a flight suit and being out with people

Hi, so he must be 5 by now. Did you get him a companion? Because he seems to be very desperate. There is lack of toys in his cage and I bet you just walking by did not safisfy him either. I used to let my pionus out in the morning and have more nap together in the bedroom. Or did you do this just to catch him on video?
+Hana Junkova Have you actually read the description? I don't think this parrot is neglected in any way. He's chatting away as Amazon's do - they don't talk when you want them to!
Hana Batek Junkova He seems neglected and needs exercise. I think this is a common ocurrence in this poor neglected intelligent bird's k life.
With the cage that bird has. I know for a fact he isn't neglected. I'm pretty sure 12 minutes of recording did not traumatize the bird.
Know this is old, but still... It amazes me that someone can read that much out of a 12 min video where he was placed in the cage to catch his morning chatter. And re. a lack of toys, you can’t see the whole cage, in the visible part there is 3 - 5 toys visible (2 may or may not be toys), how that is a «lack of toys», I don’t get...
This was painful to watch. The parrot asks clearly for help, and is not responded to. Also, at 8:59 he says "can I come out please", not "Do you want to come out please" as texted. The bird is obviously frustrated, yet ignored. Why? Why film this?

I bought the cage from a pet shop in Miami (I think it was Simbad's) and it was shipped disassembled. However, I don't see it on their website now.
